I've been kicked out of OSE about 6 times today
-
Anyone know why I'm being logged out automatically?
-
Hi all!
We discovered a secondary issue with the SSO tokens earlier today. The two symptoms associated with it is either being stuck in a redirect loop or being logged out when switching between Moz and OSE. A preliminary fix has been deployed that should cover most of the effected customers. Our Developers are working on a follow-up that should fix it for everyone else. There's no ETA on that as of now, but they're all-hands on it so it shouldn't be too much longer. Sorry about this!
Best,
Sam

Hi Sam,
I'm also running into the issue today. I have tried clearing the cache/deleting the cookies and two separate computers and continue to have the issue.
I did file a support ticket yesterday and today, but never received a response or update from either. It would be nice to get timely updates on the support tickets even if the problem is known/not solved. Thanks for your help on this.

Hi Sam,
This issue is still occurring today. It seems to be specifically a Chrome issue. I've tried IE and seems to be working fine, shame I don't use IE, hey!
I've cleared my cache and deleted cookies in Chrome and the same thing's happening. Each time I enter a new domain in OSE I have to log in. It's getting pretty frustrating now tbh.

Thanks for your help Sam.

Hi Everyone!
We had an SSO glitch that we were battling through. A fix for this has been deployed so everything should be working properly again. If you are still running into issues access different parts of Analytics or the tools, try using a different browser or clearing the cookies/cache on the one you're using as you may still have old auth data that hasn't been updated yet. If this doesn't work, please send us a note so we can look into this further for you.
Sorry for the inconvenience here!
Best,
Sam

Yes, that's exactly what I have been experiencing. I'm glad to hear it's not just me, but on the other hand sorry you've suffering the same frustration. Thanks for submitting a ticket, hopefully the issue will be identified and fixed soon.

Hi Matt,
This is also happening to me. Each time I enter a new domain to research, OSE requires that I log in again. I have filed a help ticket with moz and will update when I hear back from them.
-
Thanks Patrick. It hasn't happened for a couple hours now, so hopefully it is just a temp glitch as you suggest - fingers crossed!

Hi Matt,
We were having some issues yesterday with getting logged out while browsing the Q&A and Moz Blog which was really weird. OSE was working normally for us and everything seems normal today. It may be a temp server glitch, but if you continue to have problems, I'd hit up support. My guess is what we experienced with a temporary issue only.
Hope it pans out for you soon though as OSE is awesome! - Patrick

Moz's new Link Explorer, including our revamped index and DA/PA scores is now open to everyone!
Hey Moz Community, Link Explorer is now open to the public! Everyone can access it via a subscription or a free Moz ‘Community’ account. As you may know by now, the brand-new Link Explorer tool is primed to replace Open Site Explorer as Moz’s link building and analysis tool. The Link Explorer project is the result of an incredible amount of perseverance and hard work by the team, and we’re proud to be able to finally share it with you — we know it’s going to revolutionize how you approach link building and make your job easier. You can read more about the tool here in Sarah Bird’s announcement post. Because Link Explorer improves on almost every aspect of Open Site Explorer, the metrics have improved, too. That means you’re likely going to see some Domain Authority and Page Authority discrepancies between OSE’s index and Link Explorer’s index. We definitely suggest you use the new DA/PA from Link Explorer, as they’re more accurate and refresh daily rather than monthly, as was the case with OSE’s index. However, we also realize that many of you use these metrics to report to your clients and colleagues, and a sudden change or fluctuation could potentially make your job harder. Which DA is the real DA? The new DA is based on a much larger index that has many improvements, several of which are designed to make the index more like Google’s than ever before. You should consider moving towards the new DA (and the old DA won’t be updated after April 26th 2018, so the sooner the better). While there will be fluctuations as we improve the model and add features to the index, we expect it to remain largely stable and to be a far more accurate picture of a site’s authority according to how it’s seen by Google. Why is Link Explorer’s DA/PA considered better than OSE’s, and which should I trust? The larger link index with improved crawl selection allows us to produce a stronger model that includes a much larger proportion of the web. That being said, DA and PA should always be considered in the context of your competitors. A drop in PA or DA relative to the old OSE is of little concern if your competitors saw similar movement. Is Domain Authority/Page Authority an absolute score or a relative one? Both DA and PA are relative to the Internet as a whole. If Facebook acquired a billion new links, everyone’s PA and DA would drop relative to Facebook. Because of this, it’s always best to look at PA and DA in comparison to your competitors. What does a drop/raise in DA mean in Link Explorer vs OSE? How can I explain this to my clients when I’m reporting it? DA and PA should always be considered in the context of your competitors. A drop or raise in PA or DA relative to the old OSE is of little concern if your competitors saw similar movement. Reporting that your site has moved from a DA of 45 to a DA of 42 doesn’t tell the whole story, but reporting that your site has a DA of 42 while your main competitor moved from a 43 to a 37 shows that, relative to the sites you’re competing against in the SERPs, your site has significantly more authority and ranking power. What’s happening to MozTrust and MozRank and why, and what should I replace those with? The improvements to our DA/PA and Spam Score metrics now now account for more important nuances in helping you determine one site’s ability to rank higher than another. Because they no longer correlate with Google’s ranking model as well as they used to, MozRank and MozTrust are being deprecated for better metrics. Users should rely on Page Authority, Domain Authority, and Spam Score to determine the importance and quality of pages, domains, and links. I have historical data I use to help my clients benchmark their progress. What do I do now that DA is calculated differently? You should annotate any KPI changes referencing the change in DA and PA. However, most importantly, you should compare those changes to your competitors, as this will best show how strong your site’s authority is relative to the sites you’re competing against in the SERPs. We take updating our metrics very seriously, and our last major update to the model was 7 years ago. Users of Domain Authority and Page Authority can expect us to continue to produce steady, reliable metrics for the long haul, and only make changes to these metrics when we believe the benefits dramatically outweigh the stability of the metric. Do you have any questions about the new metrics? Anticipating a tough time reporting changes to clients or bosses? Metrics, features or functionality missing that you would want to see? Let us know in the thread, and we’ll work to find a good answer for you. Hope you enjoy the new Link Explorer product and the amazing new link index powering it. We are very excited to provide this valuable data to our community and customers.

Change in OSE?
Hi My site http://sassandgrace.co.uk has a 301 direct from the www. version as recommended and, up until last week, OSE showed no results for the www version with a message of some kind saying about the re-direct. This week the message has disappeared and I have half my links (still v small) on www version and half on the non version. Has something changed? Should I be worried? And what, if anything, should I do? Thanks

Backlinks dropped in OSE
Hi Webmaster, I just checked my website backlinks In MOZ OSE (Open Sire Explorer) tool, from the recent report history, I took the following details, June 29,2014 - 775 links
Link Explorer | | zco_seo
Aug 13,2014 - 783 links
Apr 06,2015 - 861 links
Aug 10,2015 - 880 links
Sep 16,2015 - 880 links
Feb 16,2016 - 569 links
Mar 03,2016 - 672 links
Mar 23,2016 - 55 links (Only coming from blog comments, also different targeted pages, I just removed few blog & forum links, that was around 100 only) Is there any tool issue? But In Google search Console (Google Webmasters Tool) it was saying more backlinks. But, at the same time, I checked my competitors website too, they were having more links with target page only. If anyone know the answer for this, it will be good for us. Thanks in advance,
Cheers,

OSE not picking up all internal links?
Hi! I've been checking a few pages in OSE. For example: https://www.holidayhypermarket.co.uk/holidays/last-minute This, according to the tool, has only 6 internal links. However, a Screaming Frog crawl picks up 700+, which is about right seeing as there is a link in the footer. What do you think could be behind the discrepancy?

Why Moz Doesn't See or Count Our Backlinks?
Hi Moz Community! We have been working hard to improve our Moz metrics, measuring against a high ranking competitor to help us set our goals. Our Majestic and Webmaster Tools find tens of thousands of external backlinks pointing to our domain. That's all well and good. Moz's Open Site Explorer, however, only finds 900 total links - including internal links! This being the case, we have worked diligently to build a variety of great external backlinks, creating Bitly links and encouraging clicks on those through social promotion. Yet, our competitor has over 7,000 external backlinks in Moz's index, while ours is not growing relative to their number of backlinks. Can anyone share with us what they do to tell Moz about their backlinks? We already know we have many more backlinks than our competitor, from trusted domains with good authority, yet it seems Moz is not discovering them. We just want to understand how to use these Moz metrics to create meaningful calls-to-action. Otherwise, it seems like a gargantuan waste of time, and our team has difficulty getting buy-in from our company to put time and assets toward tasks based on our Moz numbers!

What is the difference between a "Just Discovered" link and an "Established" link in OSE?
What is the difference between a "Just Discovered" link and an "Established" link in OSE? How long does it generally take for a just discovered link to migrate in to the established link section? Are there other parameters that need to be met before a link can be referred to as established? Sorry for all the questions in one post, but I've had the same "just discovered" links in OSE for quite some time and have yet to see them migrate over to the "established" link section. I was hoping that when these links become established that it would help improve my site DA. Can anyone shed any light on this issue or have any other comments? Thanks MOZ!
