What EMD Meta Title should we use and what about getting links to the same C-Block IP?
-
Situation: Recently I encountered two problems with both internal and external SEO for my company websites.
This Dutch company has four websites on one server. Three closely related EMD(Exact Match Domain) websites and one overarching website. (Holiday homes rental websites)Vakantiehuizen-Verhuur.nl (overarching)
Vakantiehuizen-Frankrijk.nl (EMD)
Vakantiehuizen-Italie.nl (EMD)
Vakantiehuizen-Spanje.nl (EMD)Question 1:
What would be a preferable Meta Title for the EMD websites (homepage/subpages)? Keep in mind that the domains are EMD. The homepage will target the most important keywords and should not compete with subpages.Options for the homepage:
1. Vakantiehuizen Frankrijk | Alle vakantiehuizen in Frankrijk op een rij!
2. Vakantiehuizen Frankrijk | Vakantiehuizen-Frankrijk.nl onderdeel van Vakantiehuizen-Verhuur.nl
3. Suggestions?Options for the subpages:
1. Vakantiehuis Normandie | Vakantiehuizen Frankrijk
2. Vakantiehuis Normandie | Vakantiehuizen-Frankrijk.nl
3. Suggestions? And concerning the keywords in the beginning; is it wise to use both plural and singular terms in the meta title? For Example:
Hotel New York. Best hotels in New York | Company NameQuestion 2: Many SEOs state that getting (too many) links from the same C-Block IP is bad practice and should be avoided. Is this also applicable if one website links out to different websites with the same C-Block IP?
Thus, website A, B and C (on the same server) link to website D (different server) could be seen as spam but is this the same when website D links to website A, B and C?

Thanks Gianluca Fiorelli, for your thorough answer,
We will consider ending each Meta Title with "- Vakantiehuizen-Italie.nl". We will probably first test some individual pages.
I asked the question concerning the C Block links because we are interlinking between our different EMD's. Which could look suspicious.. Moreover, sometimes I encounter websites where I can submit all three EMD's in once. Which results in a (many) links to the three EMD's from the same C-Block. I am still not sure if I should worry though...

Also, the same analytics or adsense account is a tipoff. Check out spyonweb to see some of this type of information.

Hi,
first of all, even if the EMD Update never rolled out outside of Google.com and English, I would try to avoid just relying on the advantages of having an EMD in order to rank.
That means that you would need to try to make of your domain name your brand name. I know it may sound difficult, given the domain name, but that what with time a tourist portal as Booking.com did (can you imagine a better EMD than booking.com?).
So, usually that can be done making the brand name the same of the domain name, hence including the tld .nl in the brand name. That can be obtained putting the domain name at the end like this: blah blah blah | vakantiehuizen-italie.nl
In the beginning of the Title tag you can put a semantic variation of the domain name... something like: Enjoy the best holidays in Italy... (being holidays a synonym of vacation, which is the first meaning of vakantienhuizen).
Said that, making your EMD a brand is not just a question of things like these ones of On Site SEO. You should try to create content or occasions that start people actively searching for your brand name (your domain) in association with your keywords (i.e.: trip to Italy, hotel in Rome...)
Related to the Class C ip question... it's all matter of not offering evident footprints to Google.
If you are linked from site in the same Class C IP, that maybe may mean that you are receiving links from a web ring. The same if you link out only to site in the same Class C IP... it seems you are creating a web ring with other sites.
And if the register of the domains is always the same, that is an even easier way to detect something sneaky

Ok. Many thanks! I made two questions:

It is a bit of a difficult question, as there are several parts, and the sites are in a language many people in Q&A don't speak. You might want to ask question two as a separate question. Question one may be more appropriate for a paid consultation, though I'll see if anyone can contribute some advice on our end.

I guess these questions are quite difficult..

Best Link Building Strategies in Modern SEO
Hello, In light of all the updates and also in guest blogging being only for nofollow links now, what's some of the best strategies for link building for ecommerce sites? We're in an industry where the content doesn't get linked to very much. Thanks.

How should I use the 2nd link if a site allows 2 in the body of a guest post?
I've been doing some guest posting, and some sites allow one link, others allow more. I'm worried I might be getting too many guest posts with multiple links. I'd appreciate your thoughts on the following: 1. If there are 50+ guest posts going to my website (posted over the span of several months), each with 2 links pointing back only to my site is that too much of a pattern? How would you use the 2nd link in a guest post if not to link to your own site? 2. Does linking to .edu or .gov in the guest post make the post more valuable in terms of SEO? Some people recommend using the 2nd link to do this. Thanks!

What's the right way to gain the benefits of an EMD but avoid cramming the title?
Hi Guys, Say I'm (completely hypothetically) building weddingvenuesnewyork.com and right now I'm organizing the tags for each page. What's the best layout so that I can optimize for "wedding venues new york" as much as possible without it becoming spammy. Right now I'm looking at something like "Wedding Venues New York: Wedding Receptions and Ceremony Venues" for the title.. To get other strong keywords in there too. Is there a better layout/structure?.. And is having the first words of the title on the homepage the same as the domain name going to strengthen the ranking for that term, or look spammy to Google and be a bad move? This is a new site being built

Advice on links after Penguin hit
Firstly we have no warnings or messages in WMT. We have racked up thousands of anchor text urls. Our fault, we didnt nofollow and also some of our many cms sites replicated the links sitewide to the tune of 20,000 links. I`m in the process of removing the code which causes this problem in most of the culprit sites but how long will it take roughly for a crawl to recalculate the links? In my WMT it still shows the links increasing but I think this is retrospective data. However, after this crawl we should see a more relevant link count. We also provide some web software which has been used by many sites. Google may consider our followed anchor text violating spam rules. So I ask, if we were to change the link text to our url only and add nofollow, will this improve the spam issue? We could have as many as 4,000 links per website, as it is a calendar function and list all dates into the future.......and we would like to retain a link to our website of course for marketing purposes. What we dont want is sitewide link spam again. Some of our other links are low quality, some are okay. However, we have lost rankings, probably due to low quality links and overuse of anchor text.. Is this the case the Google has just devalued the links algorythmically or is there an actual penalty to make the rankings drop? As we have no warnings in WMT, I feel there isnt the need to remove the lower quality links and in most cases we havent control over the link placements. We should just rectify that we have a better future linking profile? If we have to remove spam links, then that can only be a good reason to cause negative seo?

Is it bad to no follow all External LInks at the same time?
I am working on more than 40 EMDs. They are good quality brand sites but they all are interlinked to each other through footer links, side bar links. (and they dont have much of linking root domains) Now Some of those sites have been renovated with new templates and these new sites has very few external links (links going out to our own sites) but some of these old sites has 100s of external links (all these external links of course link to our own sites). But anyways, we are planning to no follow all those external links (links that are linking to our own sites) slowly to avoid penalty? question is, can it be bad to implement no follow to all those links on those sites at the same time? Will Google see it as something fishy? (I don't think so) Also, Is it good strategy to no follow all of them? (I think it is) What you guys think ?

How do I place the product link on my blog?
I have a shop and also a blog where I explain better the products on the site, such as: how to use, tips, recipes and more. How do I place the product link on my blog? Should I put a link with nofollow? Should not I put link? To put the link anchor text or just put the page URL? Don’t I need to worry about it?
