Keyword Phrase vs. separate keywords - Title Tag best practices
-
Hello,
What is your opinion about when to use a keyword phrase vs. 2 keywords, separated by a comma, in the title tag?
For example, on this page, the title could be either:
NLP Hypnosis, Language Patterns | Nlpca.com
or
NLP and Hypnosis Including Language Patterns | Nlpca.com
Which do you guys think is best with respect to rankings, updates, and future updates?

Moz shows here:
keyword 1 - keyword 2 | branding
That's kind of what Andy did, but with more of a phrase or description over plain keywords.
My only question left is, should I lean towards a sentence like that instead of listing keyword 1 - keyword 2 | branding
like keyword 1 - and keyword 2 in a phrase | branding (like Andy did)
in light of future updates?

Assuming you don't want to use the words "NLP Hypnosis Certification Training" in the title of this page, I'd consider:
NLP & Hypnosis - Mastering the Language Patterns of Influence
(61 characters inc. spaces - 5 spaces left).
Making sure to include "The NLP Institute of California" somewhere in the description tag.

I try not to use any non-value adding words like "and" in my title tags if I can avoid it. Plus, if you just use the comma, you get to see "NLP Hypnosis, Language" display whereas if you used "and" and "including" language wouldn't even show up. I would think having the most keywords display in your title tags would be best for your rankings and conversions.
Best,
Ruben

Keyword rankings sudden drop
Hello, I own an online headshop, and as of last week my keyword rankings dropped significantly on some competitive keywords I was ranking for. I noticed the same thing happened to me last month, and then a few weeks later these keywords were ranking again. In fact, they were ranking even higher than before. I also noticed that 2 of my biggest competitors who receive 500k+ clicks a month had a significant drop in their keyword rankings as well. Does anybody know why this happens and how to correct the issue? Thanks

Question about "sneaky" vs. non-sneaky redirects?
One of my client's biggest keyword competitors is using, what I believe to be, sneaky redirects. The company is a large, international corporation that has a local office. They use a totally unrelated domain name for local press and advertising, but there is no website. The anchor text in the backlinks automatically redirects to the corporate website. Is this sneaky or not?

Why a drop in certain keyword but not others?
Hi. I am looking into a potential clients SEO issues and reasons why their rankings for specific keywords that they ranked for have dropped but others stayed the same or sometimes have improved. They received a manual spam action that was revoked after some disavow and so on. In May of this year they noticed a huge drop in more generic terms. The main keyword that was ranked 6th, dropped to 35th yet other keywords rose slightly. I have noticed this issue for another potential client as well. They ranked 1st for their brand name, then received a spam action that was revoked. Now they do not rank for their brand name but do for other long tail keywords? Any ideas the best way to investigate this or root out the issue and build to improve rank for more generic keywords? Thanks

4 websites - meta titles and descriptions
I manage four separate websites/brands that all focus on the same topics and have the same achitecture. I am trying to improve each site's meta title and description, page by page, that I inherited from another before me. My question is, how different should each title/description be from one another for the same page type? Do the search engines consider this heavily in their decision process of who to show on SERPs? Am i able to simply swap out the brand name in the metas and call it done or should each meta be unique? if unique, how unique? As you can imagine, since each page is essentially the same with the same overall content and layout targeting the same keywords, it is very difficult to rewrite metas four unique ways. I greatly appreciate any advice on how you would approach this project.

Should I delete Meta Keywords from a website?
Hi Guys, I've been reading various posts on the Q&A section here at Moz about Meta keywords. I understand that meta keywords are not relevant with Google and that Bing signals this as spam. I'm optimising existing websites which already have meta keywords in the html coding. My question is: If I delete ALL meta keyword coding will this have any negative impact whatsoever? Thanks Mozers Jason 🙂

Beaten in SERP's by a site going 'all in' on 2 keywords in their anchor text profile.
I would like to get peoples thoughts on putting 80% of your anchor text links in just 2 keywords vs a nice spread of branded and longtail keywords.. like I am. recently fell off the first page for a key SERP.. and the site in P10 has gone nuts on just that two keyword's.. I know we have a good site onpage/ conversion / low bounce rate page views etc.. Pretty sure we get more traffic than them. Seems that this obvious bloated anchor text profiling has worked for them though.. What do you guys think/know?
