How to increase SERP for long tail keywords?
-
Let me describe my situation. I currently run an e-commerce site that aggregates items across various e-commerce website. I am focusing my SEO on the long tail keywords such that when user searches for 'hermes birkin bag croco black' and other specific item search, then the page that I have on my site pops up.
What are some tips on increasing this kind of stuff in a general sense such that I don't have to go through all of my 10,000 items that I have in my site and optimize each and every page for keywords. Right now what I am thinking is to increase the domain authority of the overall site. Any other tips?

Everything Alex said right on the money.
With southeast Asia being your main target can I ask you have a specific part of Southeast Asia? But you're targeting because I normally do a lot of things that are targeting people that use Google however if you're targeting people that use Yahoo or Bing or some other search engine you may have certain things that will not work as well
For instance you're going to want to have a domain with whatever part of southeast Asia you're targeting as I do not believe that Baidu , Naver, Yahoo or Bing allows you to Geo target with a .com or .net or .org
The same thing goes for hosting you weigh want to make sure that you have an IP address out of that country and that you are being hosted out of that country if you're not targeting people primarily using Google all this is not a big deal I Google it is a big deal with other search enginesIf you're not already hosting in Asia I would move your server to an Asian data center
As far as Asia goes I my first choice would be Verizon Terremark they recently purchased edge cast which is a super pop there as well
http://www.terremark.com/data-centers/asia-pacific.aspx
I know Rackspace has recently opened up a data center in Hong Kong
http://www.rackspace.com.hkhttp://www.rackspace.com/blog/the-rackspace-cloud-has-arrived-in-hong-kong/
Same with soft layer in Singapore
http://www.softlayer.com/singapore-hosting
As far as hosting goes I know and NNT has a very strong network in that area of the world
https://www.ntt.com/resource-center/topics-asia/data/singapore.html
http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=1307684

Like Alex said a lot of work and a lot of high-quality content is what's going to really make you stand out. Then you're going to have to find out what the best search engine is for your target market in Southeast Asia
I hope this is of help to you
Sincerely,

There's no substitute for hard work. How about concentrating on your best converting products to start with, then that 10,000 will seem less daunting. Also, it might make more sense to test changes on a smaller range of products first - if you make changes en masse and they don't work you could end up doing the opposite of what you want to do.
- Customer reviews can add good long-tail content, so you should encourage and display those.
- Unique and descriptive product information is very helpful - you should keep the default descriptions and duplicate content down to a minimum.
- Rich snippets and social meta tags (http://moz.com/blog/meta-data-templates-123) can help increase click-throughs.
- Linking to related products is a good way to keep people on your site and helps indexing too.

Couple of facts about my site before proceeding forward:
1. My startup is not based in the U.S, it's target market is a country in south east asia (so no, ebay is not my competition here). In fact most of the search terms/keywords will be local to my own language. So for example a keyword of 'basic blue shirt' is 'kaos biru polos', keyword is totally different.
2. My site concept is pretty similar to what Wanelo is. So I am a bit curious if anyone knows how Wanelo grows it's user base. I agree with getting links through out all of the items that I have in my site, and I understand content marketing, guest blogging, video, etc. But I am looking for one's where I should prioritize first in order to get the biggest and fastest gain. I am doing content marketing and link building/relationship, but that stuff takes time.
3. Current domain authority is pretty low, 25.
4. Site is using PHP/Symfony2, I am the developer my self.

The best way to increase the domain authority is to get a large amount of relevant links that point to not just your homepage but your entire site.
You would have to send out press releases, do high quality Guest posting, create outstanding content for instants you could use videos of your products on Wistia then allow them to be shared across the web using iFrame embeds this is set up properly Will allow people to show your video on their site however it will link back to your site.
Word of warning you are currently competing against eBay for those keywords that you referenced.
You can always utilize Amazon's Web store allowing your e-commerce store to sell product on Amazon as well.
What type of framework is your site made from?
What is your current Moz rank and trust?
Sincerely,
Thomas

Keyword Stuffing and Product Reviews
Hello Fellow Mozzers! I am pretty new the SEO world and have been tasked with improving our companies SEO with no prior knowledge of anything to do with SEO as of about 5 months ago. So far, I have been fairly successful (May be luck). There is a product page on our website that has moved from Rank 8-9 all the way up to Rank 3, on a high volume keyword, which increased our traffic to that URL by 500%! I was very proud of this accomplishment until tragedy struck... We suddenly dropped to Rank 6. It doesn't look like we've lost any Backlinks to this URL. My suspicion is that we got penalized for Keyword Stuffing since we recently changed from have multiple pages for a specific product's reviews to having them all on one page (To decrease the number of URLs our Site has). Many of these product reviews have the Keyword in them making us have over 30 of this specific keyword on our page. Could this be a valid suspicion? Should we go back to having different URLs for reviews and Disallow them for Robots?

Is it important to have a csv with high listing keywords?
I understand some digital marketing companies have a list of relevant keywords that are high ranking. I'm just curious why might they need it? I'm thinking about adapting this process into my companies marketing department, but I can't justify it if it is necessary. Could somebody care to explain why its important and an example when needed?

Avoid Keyword Self-Cannibalization. Please Help
This has been addressed plenty of times but I cannot find an example that addresses my issue so that is why I am posting this. I am getting the following Self-Cannibalization error for my Homepage and I am trying to fix it but I just don't see it or maybe I do not understand this correctly. http://fake-diploma.com Keyword Fake Diploma Cannibalizing link"How to make a fake diploma", "How to get a fake diploma", "Making a Fake High School Diploma", "Fake Diploma Template", and "Framing your fake diploma" My understanding is that for Self-Cannibalization to occur I would have to have a link on this page pointing to another page using "Fake Diploma" as my anchor text since I want this page to rank for Fake Diploma. I do have the left sidebar which contains my most recent post and my of my titles do include Fake Diploma but I thought that since they were not an Exact Match and are actually longtail keywords that they did not matter or cause Self-Cannibalization. Am I wrong? How do I fix this.

Keyword stuffing - is it true?
Hi, I use On-Page Report Card for this url (the web is in Bulgarian) : http://cholakovit.com My keyword is in Bulgarian - "уеб дизайн" (which means "web design". It shows me that my keywords is: " Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 5875 "I cannot find so many instances of this keyword. Only 13 uses for "уеб" and 10 for "дизайн" in the whole page code. Is there an error in the report? When I search the English version -http://cholakovit.com/enwhich is almost the same but translated in English of the page for the key phrase "web design" it shows only "Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 8"

Tag clouds: good for internal linking and increase of keyword relevant pages?
As Matt Cutts explained, tag clouds are OK if you're not engaged in keyword stuffing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bYPX_ZmhLqg) - i.e. if you're not putting in 500 tags. I'm currently creating tags for an online-bookseller; just like Amazon this e-commerce-site has potentially a couple of million books. Tag clouds will be added to each book detail page in order to enrich each of these pages with relevant keywords both for search engines and users (get a quick overview over the main topics of the book; navigate the site and find other books associated with each tag). Each of these book-specific tag clouds will hold up to 50 tags max, typically rather in the range of up to 10-20. From an SEO perspective, my question is twofold: 1. Does the site benefit from these tag clouds by improving the internal linking structure? 2. Does the site benefit from creating lots of additional tag-specific-pages (up to 200k different tags) or can these pages become a problem, as they don't contain a lot of rich content as such but rather lists of books associated with each tag? Thanks in advance!

® is displaying as o in the SERP pages
Hello All, A client's site was recently redesigned and since the redesign the ® is not displaying as such in the search engines when created using Option+R on a Mac. If it is created using ® it works fine. I suspect it has something to do with the programming or the CMS. Other sites on this CMS seem to not have this problem from what I have seen so far. http://www.google.com/search?aq=f&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=cliff+stevenson#sclient=psy&hl=en&q=cliff stevenson calgary realtor&aq=0&aqi=g1&aql=&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=23c2bd992ac36d9d&pf=p&pdl=3000 As more time goes on, title tags and descriptions that are months or years old are also digressing to the 0. I have cued up a few tests and once crawled will have narrowed down whether it is a CMS issue or not. Won't have completely done so, but much closer. The CMS says they have made no changes that would have caused this. The programming gang on my end says they did nothing different on this site then on others so it can't be on us. The classic 'no way it can by us, it has to be them' from all angles. I am stuck in the middle trying to find the solution. Has anyone else ever come across this problem? Thoughts?
