How would I create this type of report in Google Analytics?
-
I work for an e-commerce site. I would like to run a weekly report to see what every category pages increase and decrease for pageviews would be. How would I do that?

Some customization is going to happen. But regex can come to the rescue. Try: .(/bats/|/monkeys/|/puppies/). where bats, monkeys and puppies are your categories.
The (parenthesis) is a grouping of folders. The | says 'or'. The .* on either side just says just says match anything. If you only want the categories without the pages, just remove the last .* from the expressions.

/category/
/nachos//category/9
/category/!category

http://www.url.com/bats/bat-manI once had to match every possible misspelling of 'warrior'. My eyes started bleeding, but I got the majority of it.

Although I ended up going through customization having these widgets on my dashboard for my top categories still seems like a great idea. Thank You

I ended up going through customization and can find the data I wanted but I can't figure out how to compare months automatically. Ideally I would like to send a report out the first of every month that shows the increase or decrease in pageviews from the previous month.

I made a couple of dashboard widgets. You will need to edit the Includes filters to the proper category page or pages. If you have a folder level called /category/, you'll likely only need one Includes filter.
If the dashboard is too difficult/broken, you can follow the path Martijn suggested. However you'll need to change the date range to Last week and compare to previous period. Change the Primary Dimension to Page and the secondary to Week Index. After that, you'll have to click Advanced and set includes for Page containing your category.
If it's looking good to you, click shortcut. Then click email and the rest should be pretty intuitive.
If you need to filter via regex, a simple example would be: ./category/.
That will match any page with category as a folder. Try out regexpal. You can get started with the above regex and see how these inputs match (highlight) or don't (no highlight).

/category/!category
Have fun! And if anything is broken, well... it's late.

Hi,
You probably can do this by going to Behaviour > Site Content > Content Drilldown. This should display all the categories on your site probably. By creating the report based on this you get the opportunity to receive a weekly report with all the default metrics you see in there.
Good luck!

Two of Four Google Analytics Views Not Showing Data
Question for you MOZ friends: We added two new views about a week ago, the same views that we have added for more than 50 Accounts, and they are not showing any data. The views are for 'Filtered Traffic' (no IPs or spam) and 'Organic Only' including only the organic medium. Any ideas why this may not be working? First time we've come across this and couldn't find much help researching it... Thanks as always! street%20ga_zpsorfdnemi.png

Google Analytics showing discrepancy in Geo data
My site is related to UAE and the Gulf region. An year ago, Google Analytics abruptly started showing high incoming traffic from USA (Visits grew from 50k/month to 500k/month) while the overall traffic was stagnant. An year down the line, this has now been reverted back to normal nos and the overall traffic is still maintained. What could be a possible explanation for this discrepancy? Since this reversal has also now boosted traffic nos for other countries, should we rely on this data? Or is it polluted?

Set up Google Analytics by product category
Does anyone know if it's possible to set up Google Analytics data by product category? We sell roughly twenty product categories on our ecommerce site. We can look at our analytics performance for the site overall and drill down to specific pages, but what we really want to see is our performance by product category. Our product categories can include up to 5000 products. Any pointers on how to do this?

What is the best way to track mobile sites in Google Analytics?
Hello! I am wondering what the pros and cons of using the regular Google Analytics tracking code on a mobile site versus the tracking documentation from Google specifically on it found at http://code.google.com/mobile/analytics/docs/web/ which is still in labs mode. Does the mobile specific tracking have the same features as the regular one to be able to track events and report the same statistics? Thanks for the help on this one!

Can you get local search numbers/traffic out of Google Analytics?
With Google's new local search I am more curious as to market penetration on keywords that are now localized to my different US cities. I understand that you can separate out Google traffic based on regional Google domains, but I am curious if there is an effective way to separate out searches and keywords based on a my local US Metros? If google cannot do this, any recommendations on products that can? Thanks.

Google Analytics should track users from iPhone App
Hi Mozzers, you say there are no dumb questions, here is one. We've build an iPhone App for our Website working-dog.eu. So users can read there new messages with ease when they are out of the office, read about breeds, ... do all the nice stuff they want. I don't think so, but is it possible to track these users with Google Analytics? When the come via App, the Analytics code will not run for them. But maybe it could start an AJAX request or something like this? But how should the code run, without a browser which can interprete JavaScript? So, in short: Is it possible to track users from iPhone App with Google Analytics? Kind regards Patrick
