Was changing some keywords worth it?
-
Hi, I recently started with the SEO and all the "magic".
Thanks to moz I analyze/change my keywords in On-Page optimization and follow recommendations in the Crawl Diagnostic. Since then I have a simple (maybe dummie) question.
How can I determine that changing of some keywords was worth it? I was thinking that I could check these three things if they are growing/improving:-
check "url - keyword" rank and grade
-
check number of visits from the organic search history
-
check Page Authority, MozRank, MozTrust in Open Site Explorer
Are these three good metrics? What else?I know it is probably not so easy to answer and it is probably matter of discussion.
Thanks anyway for answers.
D.

Thanks for the answers, guys!
I got it now...
I guess it is not that simple to answer my question. If it was easy to measure which keywords are "the best" it would be simpler, but (on the other hand) less interestingD.

Hi Dusan!
You're definitely on the right track, though I'd make a few adjustments to those metrics. To tell whether changes to your on-page keyword targeting were worth it, I'd suggest focusing on rankings changes and traffic.
While Page Grade will tell you whether a page is compliant with keyword targeting best practices, it won't tell you whether that keyword targeting is positively affecting your rankings or traffic. Page Authority, MozRank, and MozTrust are link metrics, and don't consider any on-page or keyword targeting factors, so they really won't do anything to show the effects of your on-page optimization.
Does that help?

Hi Dusan
I believe your proposed metrics are the adequate.
Anyway I must tell you that I do not use only moz which I love... I use lots of Google Analytics, and probably you will also love to see how your metrics are changing day after day, and I´ll tell you why.
It is not only a matter of visits, you also need to know if those visits "convert" as they navigate a certain amount of time, a certain amount of pages... or in the best case, bought, or at least subscribed for a newsletter...
It is a combination of kw search volume, relevance, serp position, number of visits, and returns which bring profitable results on this virtuous equation.
I hope I have given at least a glimpse of how I look for results when selecting kw strategies.
Cheers from southern Spain.

Can I access old data/keyword research if I cancel my Moz Pro account?
I'm currently on the free month trial period for Moz Pro and I will probably cancel the account before the free period ends, but if I want to renew my subscription later, what happens to all the previous data? And does all the keyword research I've done disappear when I cancel it, or is it restored when I renew the subscription? Any insight is helpful! Thank you!

Can you set up a custom report for keywords with a label attached
I'm looking to set up a custom ranking report, but I just want the report to show up keywords that I have attached a certain label to. I've attached a custom label to a number of my keywords. Ideally I would like a report which just showed me the performance of these keywords. Does anybody know of a way to do this? Thanks in advance.

How to add bulk keywords to keyword rankings
I have added hundreds of keywords to "Add and Manage Keywords" how do I get those over to Keyword rankings? Its showing 5 that I manually added. Do I need to manually add them one at a time? That seems a bit crazy. Is there no way to import them over from add and manage?

How does MOZ assign a keyword to a page in the On Page Grades by Keyword Ranking
I'm in the beta analytics tool. In the On Page Optimization > On Page Grades by Keyword section, there is a Keyword column with a keyword assigned to each URL on my site. http://analytics.moz.com/search/on-page/572409.326269 How is the keyword that is shown here decieed upon? Is it simply based on a guess of the "best keyword" for each page based on kwp density and other factors? Can I map a new keyword to each page? or at least to my top ten most important pages? I see I can check the grade for any keyword on any page here: http://analytics.moz.com/search/manage-page-grades/572409.326269. I want to map my top ten pages to ten keywords - can I save these changes in the system so I don't have to manually check a keyword/url match each time? Shaun
