Any suggestions to shorten my learning curve?
-
Hi, I am new to moz. There are a lot of tools and information in moz. I am very excited. I also went through the Howtos sections. I am trying to use moz tools to optimize my own website. Is there a case study to show the process to do that by using your tools? Do you recommend any study articles or videos that can shorten my learning curve? Thanks.

Hi John & Matt,
Matt did a great job of giving you the links to how to use the tools. I thought one thing that might be helpful if it's your first week is running a crawl test it comes back a lot faster than running a campaign it just hit me that it might be of use to you here's the link you simply place your domain into The box and it will email you the crawl test showing any errors with the website very useful tool for quite a few things.
I love crawl test that Matt recommended it's a very good thing to start off with
https://moz.com/researchtools/crawl-test
I think any as he should have one additional tool in their toolbelt and it's free this is a great tool that spoken about quite a bit by Moz & I added a guide that is very helpful just something I thought would be helpful to anyone conducting seo
I use it with screaming frog SEO spider
http://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/
Free for the base 500 pages
&
http://www.seerinteractive.com/blog/screaming-frog-guide
I think it's a real help with the use of the Moz tools (they are the best) this just adds to it.
All the best,
Thomas

Hi Matt,
Thank you for the tips. That is a perfect "road map" to help me navigate through the maze of training materials and all kinds of tools. I have a much better "big picture" on how to learn to use Moz tools than a few days ago. Your information is very helpful.
Thanks.

Hi John,
Welcome to Moz! Thomas definitely has you on the right track, but I've got a few recommendations of my own.
If you'd like to brush up on SEO and inbound marketing in general, I absolutely recommend reading through the Beginner's Guide to SEO, if you haven't before. It offers one of the best introductions available to the basics of SEO, and can be pretty easily read through in an afternoon. Cyrus Shepard's "How to Rank" is another great learning resource, and presents a more practical explanation of the SEO process. Then, of course, there's Moz Academy, which Thomas already covered.
It sounds as if you may have already seen it, but the Getting Started section of the Help Hub provides an overview of each of the tools we have available, including quick video introductions and documentation. I suggest looking it over once, then checking back whenever you feel confused about a tool or feature.
Finally, here's the basic process I tend to recommend to folks who are just getting started:
-
Set up the Brand & Mentions section of your account to get it started collecting data.
-
Add your competitors to the Links section of your account, in order to get their link metrics tracking, as well.
-
Use the On-Page Optimization section of your campaign, and particularly the page grade recommendations to get the on-page elements of your site under control. I recommend checking out Rand's post on the "perfectly optimized page" for pointers.
-
Use Crawl Diagnostics to work out anything that's causing issues for web crawlers.
Where you go from there will depend on your own goals and strategy.
Does that help at all?

Hi John,
Frist off welcome to Moz!
check out some of the links below here I think Moz Academy, learning SEO & distilled U sound like what you're looking for. Distilled is a partner of Moz however they are very close when it comes to the way companies operate. Their friends literally. Here are the links below.
the http://moz.com/learn/seo along with everything included like http://moz.com/academy
along with much more if you want another exceptional way of learning search I suggest
creating synergy you can sign up for Distilled U https://www.distilled.net/u/
Distilled University is an amazing place to learn search engine optimization and marketing. You can even save money by using moz.com/perks I believe you get 20% off don't quote me on that though.
Having used it myself it is extremely thorough, and you can go at your own pace. You can get into very simple things or extremely technical things I would strongly recommend it.
try it I love it.
case studies if you Google "case studies moz" you get a lot of great stuff for instance all the wonderful blogs http://moz.com/blog/an-evergreen-content-case-study
http://moz.com/blog/case-study-whitehat-link-building-in-the-gambling-industry
http://moz.com/blog/9000-uniques-viral-marketing-case-study
are just a very few
I hope this answers your question please let me know if there's anything I have left out that I can help you with.
Remember if you ever get stuck or have a question about anything search related you can always ask it here.
Sincerely,
Thomas

Unsolved Website Traffic
Greetings All. I'm working on a new business website for a client, and I've been accessing the site numerous times daily (troubleshooting, confirming changes, etc.). I've been using Google search to access the site, and I use a VPN so that my IP would be random. So I would presume that the site traffic should be increasing. But on the last Moz Pro crawl, the site traffic was still listed as 0.

Moz not able to crawl our site - any advice?
When I try and crawl our site through Moz it gives this message: Moz was unable to crawl your site on Aug 7, 2019. Our crawler was banned by a page on your site, either through your robots.txt, the X-Robots-Tag HTTP header, or the meta robots tag. Update these tags to allow your page and the rest of your site to be crawled. If this error is found on any page on your site, it prevents our crawler (and some search engines) from crawling the rest of your site. Typically errors like this should be investigated and fixed by the site webmaster. I have been through all the help and doesn't seem to be any issues. You can check the site and robots.txt here: https://myfamilyclub.co.uk/robots.txt. Anyone got any advice on where I could go to get this sorted?
