Large number of Temporary Redirects
-
Hey,
I own a large ecommerce site with a few thousand products. The platform we are using adds a default French, English, and German store. It is not out of the question to offer french version of our site in the future, but for the time being we have added temporary redirects on these pages back to the main (english) version.
In my Moz analytics, there are 1000+ pages with temporary redirects, and Moz classifies these as medium priority. Is there a better solution to dealing with these default language pages?
Thanks,
-
You are welcome! glad I was of help!

Thanks Frederico,
After looking in the source code, there was a div class remaining from the template that added these language parameters. Thanks for your recommendation!

If you don't have the site available in french yet then you should find where is the site linking to the french version and remove the links, that will solve it without the 302 redirects.
If Mozbot is able to find those pages, that's because somewhere in your site you are linking to that nonexistent version.

Number of goals larger than the events its bases on - WTF?
Hi all We configured a standard goal in Analytics that is triggered on an event. I have seen cases where the number of triggered events is larger than the goal completions due to limitations to how many times the same goal can be fulfilled within the same session, BUT in this case we got the opposite problem. We got more Goal Completions than we got events that is supposed to trigger the goal. Now also added a screenshot of how the goal is configured. As you can see its just configured to use the Category name of the event. Nothing fancy at all. How can that be possible? Again, more goal completions than events that is suppose to trigger it? Grateful for any help Fredrik AclZDUO

Main Website Redirects to Mobile Website, Mobile Website counts this as direct traffic, is there a way to tell what the source/medium is?
Hello, The situation is that someone is arriving on my main website https://www.example.com and being redirected to http://m.example.com. When this happens my analytics says that the traffic is all direct coming to my mobile site. However, I know people clicking on my google cpc, and some google organic users are hitting the main website and being redirected. Before we didn't have as good of a redirect on our main website so I could tell organic and cpc traffic coming in, now my main website has a huge drop in these categories because they are redirecting to mobile but I can't tell on my mobile how much traffic from each is going to the mobile site. Is there a way to fix this? Is it because my main website is https:// and mobile is a http:// (as I know that sometimes makes traffic direct) or is it a bigger problem that can't be resolved? Thanks

High Temporary Redirects: Login required pages
Noticed something interesting, a high temporary redirect report from Moz. Reviewing the pages they are caused by the user having to login and getting redirected. I can see the returnto query in the URL too. My thoughts: Since a login is required and the user is being redirected, these should remain 302 and not 301. I tested my Google Analytics account to **Exclude URL Query Parameter **returnto, just to see if it affected traffic. It didn't, I mean I don't see urls duplicated with the parameter anymore, just grouped together, so traffic is still being counted. I'm going to wait 1 more day and see what impact the GA traffic is before applying the exclusion to my true Google Analytics profile. This got me thinking, I should probably exclude this parameter from Google and Bing Webmaster Tools, that way Google/bing won't read those urls. Now does Moz's crawler follow that? Do you think that would change my moz crawl diagnostic report because I told Google/Bing crawlers to exclude that parameter. What do you think of my approach to reduce these high temporary redirects reported by Moz? Will it work? Has it plagued you?

Hello, I'm trying to get a rough estimate of how many times a domain name that we're interested in acquiring is typed in to the address bar. If the google keyword tool says for instance, that the exact match domain name is typed in 720 times, how many times it typed in to the address bar? example.com - 720 global searches Thanks!

To 301 Redirect or NOT?
Hi, This site has been so helpful in receiving not only answers to my questions but explanations too. With so many opinions and motives on the internet explanations help one to decide in which way to go. Here is my dilimna, as always, all input is welcome and very appreciated! I have a site that has more links to www.domain.com and less to http://domain.com , however, for our local search and I do not know why - our http://domain.com has better position in search engines and (www.domain.com has way more links) Is there any reason for this? However, in generic term, (no locality mentined) our www.domain.com shows up in the results. My site is hosted on Yahoo webhositng which does not allow for .htaccess 301 redirects, someone on this board was really nice and has alerted me to Godaddy (my domain is hosted there) and introduced me to a DNS 301. I called Godaddy and they said it would be possible, and also told me that I would lose all my email with Yahoo. I have managed to backup the email and am leaning towards the Godaddy- DNS redirect, just wanted to know if I would see a big difference in SEO. Links (different root domains) currently - http://domain.com 55, www.domain.com 1000 plus. Thanks for any input, if amnyone knows.

301 redirect visible on Google.
Hello, This is a strange one for me. We have 301 redirected our .com domain to the .co.uk domain. The strange thing is that if you gogole the .com domain (theloanengine.com) there is a result with the website description. If you click on the result you are redirected tot he website homepage. One other thing: I've discovered this 301 issue because Google Analytics started to show me a few days ago referrals from the .com domain. I don't know if these things are connected. Cornel
