H tags
-
I am hearing all about the benefits of H tags and I tried to use them in my wordpress blog. The way I did, I used the paragraph drop down and made the selected text h1 or h2 , but size of these tags are huge . Can you help me what is the trick?
Also, Can I have more than one H2 tag. For example my article title seems to be H1 by default(by the wordpress) then can I make just my subtitles in the body of the article H2. Then I will have for example 5 H2 sentences spreaded all over the body.
Thanks

Hi Claudia,
The first H1 one is for the blog and the second one is for the article. It seems to be right because if you go to the blog main page there are many H1. One for the blog page and then one for each article. Please let me know your thoughts.
Thanks
Armin

Hi Calaudio,
I am looking for a way to eliminate the extra H1. But about the photo, I enter all the information including the title but I do not know why it does not appear. Please have a look at the attached photo.
Thanks,
Armin

Dear Armin,
I see your page, which has an error you has two H1 tags, the first is:
class="blog-title">Blog
(it should be an error of the plug-in and the second is fine:
class="entry-title">How Persian Girls Can Attract Men They Like
, the image Persian-girls-12-300x200.jpg (your image post, includes the ALT value correct, I suggest to include the TITLE tag with the same value of the ALT tag (the ALT tag is for search engines and the TITLE is for visitors) and both should see the same.
Please make the changes and let me know
Claudio

BTW, Focus keyword is "Persian girls"

The first H1 is fine, (only one H1 on the body is allowed), when I refer to the title I was talking about the <title>tag, make sure your <title> tag on the <header> of the page is identical to your H1.</p> <p>Also I recommend to add as H2 subtitles with variants of the H1.</p> <p>When you finish, you can show me one page to let me test it.</p> <p>Hope it help</p> <p>Claudio</p></title>

Thanks a lot for your help. I set and it is great. I have another question I hope you do not mind.
As you know there is a title field when you make a new article. Do I need to treat it as the H1 tag. And then in the body of my article add h2,3,4,5,. Or I should enter H1 in the body of my article as well. To test I entered a H1 tag in the body of my article and went to the page source this is what I got:
Word press title is shown as :
How to Be the Man Girls Die for
The H1 tag in the body which I added:
Being wanted
Can you tell me if I need to add H1 in the body again or the one produced by wordpress is enough and I should start with H2,3,4,..
Thank you so very much.

Sure this should be really easy to get going, you can start with this:

Hi Vadim,
Thanks for your response. Do you know any plugins that can do that for me. I have very minimum knowledge of wordpress and I had quick look at plugins. But there are tons of them with so many technicality.
Thanks

Hello Armin,
You should use only one H1 tag on your page, the recommendation is include on it the page title (title tag).
Also you can use other H2 and H3 etc, no limitations but you should care about keyword dilusion and care about not sound as keyword spammer.
Actually I'm using one H1 identical to my title tag, and two or three H2's
Hope it help

Hi Armin,

H tags can have different fonts and sizes and this is usually controlled with the CSS on your Wordpress site. If you are not familiar with CSS, you might have two options. Higher end Wordpress themes, give you the ability to easily customize your font sizes in headings, body text, menus etc. If this is not available, being Wordpress is known to have a plugin for pretty much everything, you can try out the many font customization plugins to see which gives you the option to change heading sizes.

Generally have only one H1 heading, as a page title, and then you can have multiple H2-5 tags
Hope this helps!

Links from Directory Websites with NoFollow Tag
In reviewing our root domain links, I noticed that many of the directories (like Yellow Pages, Insider Pages, Merchant Circle, etc) that there are no follow codes included in the link to our website. Is this a common practice for these directories? Also, I wanted to confirm that this would not help in our link building strategies with any relevant "link juice." Below is a copy and pasted (with some extra characters that shouldn't have copy and pasted), but the key note here is the no follow tag that was included in this link to our site. Visit Website Thanks as always MOZ Community - cheers!

How To Override rel=nofollow tag
I have a plugin that automatically adds rel="nofollow" to anchor tags that link to external websites. Now I want to make a particular link to override that nofollow tag and pass the page juice to it. How should I go about it? Will adding rel="follow" help?

No-index tags-Can they be used in internal linking?
On my site http://villasdiani.com I am using yoast seo plugin and have I am using tags to organize category with villas on self-catering, full board etc but I have them set no-index as I believe they would create only duplicate content for the categories. Is it still ok to use this tags for internal linking? Example: I have a post in my blog which links to category Beach Villas(they are set to be indexed) and I would like to add option also for self-catering villas itself, which is a tag(set no-index) I am not sure if I am getting this right. Thank you very much, Iris

Targeting City Geo-tags/Keywords for Clients with Multiple Locations
Hey everyone! What methods are best to use for SEO campaigns working with 1 website for a company which has 2, 3, 4, or more locations in order to get keywords for their services to rank well... in all their location cities? I feel we know the answer could be any one of the below notes, however, it's always nice to learn more about what all you other SEO's are doing or have done which saw success. Please note: We have heard about building microsites on sub-domains example city.domainname.com/keyword-or-service

We have heard about building sections off the root domain such as domainname.com/city/keyword-or-service
We have heard about just pushing more content to the blog which can target a wider range of keywords and cities
We have heard about building a new site for each city location replicating the main website and swapping out content for 100% originality
We have heard about just building more and more backlinks with different anchor text using the cities in the anchor text Thanks in advance and look forward to hearing from some other experts facing these same challenges!1 -
Title Tag Length
Here is my question, I know that after 70 characters or a certain pixel width. Google cuts off your title tag in the SERPS. I also know it will still index title tags up to 255 characters I think it is,. My question is if I have words or characters after the 70 characters limit. will this show up in the search? Or will Google only look at the first 70 characters in terms of relevance? I hope that makes sense thanks. Peter

Is there any reason why a link within an <area> tag would not be counted as correct backlink?
Is there any reason why a link within an <area> tag would not be counted as correct backlink? In this example there is no <a> tag, so will this still be considered a link?</a>

Do image links with no alt tags pass link value?
"... an image link with no alt tag is useless to search engines..." according to a Nov 2007 seomoz blog post. Is this still the case in 2011? I ask because I'm about to obtain a banner link on a high-traffic site (chiefly for the clickthrough value) but I notice the site uses neither "title" nor "alt" tags.

Alt Image Tags
Hi, Do you think an alt image tag on an image as a link is going to impart the same juice or targeting as a link with a text anchor? So, for example, if one made a clickable image link with the alt image tag of "bowling balls" would that do as much for you as the text "bowling balls" as the anchor link? Thanks! Best...Michael
