Homeware customer 500 per mnth to spend -
-
would a spend of 500 be better on offsite SEO or social media campaigns via facebook twitter pinterest
-
Hi Felicity,
Both can have an impact. What matters is how well you can achieve goals. I could probably get better results from SEO than Social Media, but only because I don't specialise in SM. Get someone who does, and the outcome could be totally different.
I guess the answer to this is where you feel you can have the most impact as both areas have the ability to achieve the desired results for you.

Hi guys - thanks for your response - yes good point I did not define outcome
Increase profits as much as possible with $500 per month.
The customer is in the homeware industry. Sheets, bedlinen etc - med to highly competitive search terms. Customer ranks OK for some search terms.
Really I am asking what has more sales impact in the homeware industry - SEO or Social Media?
From my observations I would suggest social media is the best for fashion but I do not have enough exposure to homewares to be make the same call.

I think that a clear and concise goal statement will help you answer this question.
What is it that your customer truly wants? sales? leads? social engagements? newsletter subscribers? to what degree do they want their desired goal? an increase of 10%? a cost per sale/lead of <$5? Most of the time, they don't know. you will have to guide them into really considering their options and choosing the ultimate path.
By clearly defining their true goal, you can find the right solution or combination of solutions that will provide them the results they are after while allowing you to scale in the future.
I always clearly define a goal before I spend a single dime.

Great response! Why??!
-
Definitely offsite SEO.
-
I would say it depends on your visibility on Facebook etc. How big is the audience? vs. where you would potentially advertise off site? What type of adverts are you running, social or direct? Another option may be to advertise the Social page from offsite?

The $100 question
Spend depends wholly on what is required for the site. Do they need Social work? Do they need links?
No simple answer to this I'm afraid Felicity. It all depends on how this client wishes to focus and if you are completing the work, how do you feel this should best be spent.

Separate Google+ page per blog language?
Our corporate blog is currently online in four different languages (English, Dutch, German and French): blog.com blog.be blog.fr blog.de For these different blogging domains we have one single Google+ page on which we share the blogs' content in different languages. Would it be better to make four separate Google+ pages (per blogging domain)? What would be the advantages/disadvantages? Also, each article is posted in four different languages. But the author stays the same for all different languages. So one author always posts content in English, Dutch, German and French. Could Google consider this as spam?

Google + Business Page Custom url -too-spammy-long-url?
Hi to all, Ok so I was offered a custom url from Google Plus, greatly appreciated. Yet do you go ahead and add keywords when prompted? I mean if its your business page, and Google says you MUST add some sort of number or letter behind your custom url, do you add some keywords? Like ford for example sake. Would it be smart to put google.com/+ford-mustag-f350 So you add a couple of hyphens, and a few keywords? I understand the principle of shorter is better. But if your url is already like 15 characters, does a few more hurt? Or is it useless? Another example: Your Google page is tv repair man. Your Google offered url is google.com/+Tvrepairman But again it says you must add a number or letter etc. So do you add like your location? so tvrepairman-colorado or maybe no hyphen? Or go farther and go with tvrepairman-colorado-springs-co My point is, I am lost. It seems like for now its a one and done. You mess it up, your stuck with it for a while, and I cannot find any ideas online on how to work this. Maybe because its common sense, but just looking for some friendly and honest advice. Chris

Authorship's Back. Could a custom URL be why?
Hey Everyone, First, thanks to everyone for providing me suggestions on how to get my authorship picture back. Sure enough, we did it get it back, but not for any reason that makes sense to me. We got it back within hours of changing our g+ url to a custom one (google provided us with one a few months ago, but I didn't like it, so I didn't change it). Well, now I figured, why not? We have to do something to get our authorship back, and after making that change within hours, we had our picture displaying again. While I know this could be a coincidence, we haven't written anything new since we lost it in mid December. So, it can't be some influx of great content. And, since google is getting more strict about authorship, I don't see how we would have lost it in the first place, only to get it back without anything additional worked on yet. The only change is the custom URL. I know this is not ANY sort of scientific proof, but I figured I'd just throw my experience out there for others to see. Could this be the reason? Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Good luck to everyone else who is working on getting their picture back! Though I can't tell you how to do it, I can tell you it can change back within a few weeks. Best, Ruben

Can I use a customized Google+ icon?
I just want to ask if it is possible to use a customized Google+ icon. I am confused after I have read this "For buttons that may be rendered by the Publisher, such as the Sharing Link, the Publisher must use only the official Google-provided icon or a plain text and link combination. source: http://www.google.com/intl/en/webmasters/+1/button/policy.html Thanks in advance! 🙂

Customer/Visitor Personas
Hey All; Question regarding visitors; How, and what software should I use for my wordpress website? To gather as much visitor information? I currently use Google Analytic's - Any more thoughts as to what I should be using? Remeber a Mozinar regarding this. Anyone have the link, to video by Randfish maybe? The site is a Music video up loader for underground local bands to put their music on TV. It's for a local MAJOR University Private cable service. How do I get started on getting the persona inter-graded into my website? 😉

Custom Social Media icons: Good or bad?
Hi guys, In our never-ending search for better SEO strategies and results, our journey has led us to question the idea of creating custom social media icons for our site. We are wondering if anyone has had experience, either negative or positive, by using these icons, or if there is no difference at all? I would like to make it clear that we are only thinking about customizing the icons that lead to our Facebook page, Twitter profile, YouTube channel, etc. NOT the like/share/tweet/etc buttons. We understand the negative effects in changing those icons, but are interested in knowing if creating general icons that match our design will be a good or bad thing. Any replies are appreciated, thanks!

Is it possible to customize the size and shape of social sharing buttons?
Hello SEO people... I have an important and urgent question. Is it possible to customize social sharing buttons with counter? We are developing a new website and I want to place the social sharing (not the social follow buttons) at a specific location on the website. The space available is not a lot and my developer says that it is not possible to change the size of the button+counter.... please tell me what you guys know about this. And if the answer is 'YEs they can be customized' then please give me a link that I can forward to the boy so that he can work on it. Your answers will be highly appreciated. Regards, MTI
