Is it possible to track rank history
-
I would like to know is it possible to track a keywords past ranking history? We would like to check the ranking history of some potential vendors, but only get data from the point I add them to Alabs, moz etc. Id like to go back a year to see the trend in their rankings. Is this possible and what tool or process can be used to achieve this. Thanks in advance.

Hi Anthony,
Unless you find a campaign or individual who has been tracking results, either for a specific keyword or for a specific domain, you can't retroactively do this through tools like Moz.
You can use Searchmetrics' domain visibility tool to see how dominant a site has been in its niche over time, however, which gives you a rough understanding of whether it has ranked well or poorly for its keywords over time: http://suite.searchmetrics.com/en/research/domains/visibility
My former agency has an in-house process like this that we used daily (I wrote about how it works in this post, although it has been developed into a tool and is more sophisticated now). It's useful for when you want to look at historic performance but don't have specific ranking reports and Searchmetrics is a great public alternative.
I hope this helps!

It's impossible to get past rankings. You can only start to monitor them now and then record the changes manually or with a program. One example is Moz's Rank Checker (subscription required): https://moz.com/researchtools/rank-tracker
However, rank is increasingly a useless term because every person in the world sees different SERPs pages based on his or her location, language, search history, Google+ use, and a lot more. The closest that you can get is to get non-personalized rankings for a given location, but even then, that will just be an estimate.

As far as I'm aware there is no such tool, and I would be surprised if there was.

A keyword my site ranks on has recently dropped from no 2 to 51+ after weeks ranking high.
Any ideas? The full SERP analysis still puts it at no 2 so I'm quite confused

Local Rankings Drop?
G'morning! I got a disturbing report this morning that showed seven of our big keywords drop from high on the first page to not in the top 50. After further research I have found that we are now in Google's local cluster, but no longer on the traditional organic results. My question is this, has Google changed something that doesn't allow results in the local cluster AND in the traditional organic listings? I'm assuming that this is the case because we're doing smart SEO and have built these rankings up nicely over time, but then just fell off the face of the earth. I have attached a snapshot of Moz's Ranking History for a few of the keywords, as I assume this will help explain the story. (We're in green). Any insight would be much appreciated. What is the difference between the Rank Tracker and the On-page Optimization page?
Both of them track keywords. In the Rank Tracker, you add each keyword manually and you associate it with a URL. For On-page Optimization page, the URLs are generated automatically based on searches and traffic?

Is there a way to manually update the keyword rankings tool in SEOmoz?
It appears that our keyword rankings update weekly on Thursdays. Is this the same across the board or is there a way to manually run an update?

Tool which shows site ranking for a given keyword
Hi all. I have a client with a specific request and wanted to ask if there is a reliable tool which allows a user to enter a given site and keyword, and it will return the site's ranking for that keyword. More specifically: Needs to work for Google, Yahoo and Bing Needs to work for various countries such as Google.ca, Google.it, etc. Needs to show at least the top ?10k rankings, not just the top 50 The last requirement is the challenge. I clearly recognize anything past the top 50 or so ranks is really off the map, but the client would like to view his current standings.
