Contact pages coming up for keywords above landing pages
-
I have two examples of contact pages coming up over designated landing pages
-
Keyword: Nickel Alloys for www.neonickel.com
-
Keyword: Artificial Grass for www.artificialgrass4u.co.uk
Is there anyway I can stop this happening?

What I am seeing for "Nickel Alloys" is the page for nickel alloys under neonickel.com (http://www.neonickel.com/alloys/nickel-alloys/). This page is optimized very well for this and Google thinks it is the most relevant page on your site, which it is. Even if this page has less authority than your homepage, the relevancy of this page is why Google is ranking this over the homepage.
If someone is searching for nickel alloys and they get this page which is specifically about nickel alloys on your site, why would you not want them to land on this page?
The artificial grass is an interesting case. I don't see that site in the first 5 pages of search but if I search only under that domain, the homepage is ranked near the bottom compared to all your other pages. Was this page possibly just resubmitted to Google via Webmaster Tools or removal of a noindex tag? Your homepage has good authority and relevance so there is no reason I'm seeing as to why it is not ranking. Has it ranked higher in the past and been a big change in organic traffic?
Something I would definitely recommend is plugging in Webmaster Tools and check the crawl diagnostics there to see if you can get any insight. You should also submit a sitemap as well if you not have not already done so. This will help Google recognize all the pages on your site and increase the number of pages Google crawls.
Hope this can help

Hi,
When I do a search for Nickel Alloys, I get the homepage at position 17. Other than the Adwords, I don't see www.artificialgrass4u.co.uk in the first 5 pages.
What are you using to check pages and positions?

Your opinion on "Keyword | Keyword 2 | Keyword 3 - Sitename" Meta Title
While I'm personally against It I have seen it used. I would think that Google might see this as some degree of keyword stuffing, rather than a 'natural' title, which may hinder ranking. What are your thoughts?

Are there any SEO benefits changing the default home page filename (index.htm) to a keyword rich filename
II'm a newbie. I have a website using the default home page filename: index.htm. I have total control over the web server. I was wondering whether I can get any SEO improvements for my main keyword if I change the default filename with a filename that contains the main keyword, like our-main-product.htm (doing the 301 redirect and changing the server search order, of course)?

What are your thoughts on keyword density?
Useless metric? Good as an indicator, but not of any real value? Best way to judge how well content is optimised? I've heard all kinds of opinions, what's yours? Thanks!

On-page SEO reviews
Hi everyone 🙂 I was hoping someone could point me in a direction on where I could get my website's on-page SEO a review with recommendations. Title tags, meta description, code, H1s, content and so on... I know you can find most of what I'm asking online, but I would like a professional with a new set of eyes to help out. Thanks in advance for your time in helping!

Page title changes based on results per page
I have a product listing that allows customers to set a results per page option. This ads a GET variable to the URL. I've added the page number to the title of this page if they go past the first page. If this results per page variable is added to the URL then google see it as a different page. Do I need to change the page title for this?

Should H1s be used in the logo? If they are and it is dynamic on each page to relate to the page content, is this detrimental to the site rather than having it in the page content?
On some sites, the H1 is contained within the logo and remains consistent throughout the site (i.e. the company name is in the of the logo). If the h1 in a logo is dynamic for each page (i.e. on the homepage it is company name - homepage) is this better or worse to have it changed out on the logo rather than having it in the page content?

Does targeting more than one keyword or keyword phrase effect rankings?
Hi, We have a homepage where we are targeting three main keywords. 'Cheap books', 'buy books' and 'used books'. We are ranking well for cheap books and making progress on the more competitive buy and used. My question is how many keywords can you reasonably rank for on one page. We are targeting other keywords on other pages and having some success - but is three the maximum or is that too many?
