Google indexing

Hi
In my site I have 2 blogs, the first blog is a standard blog, every post is informative and over 6oo words with pictures and all of them are keyworded.
The second blog is basically a journal of bike rides i go on, with a picture and about 100 - 300 word writeup. I use a portfolio plugin to get this online.
My question is should I noindex nofollow all of these posts. Im not sure if google will see it as a lot of uninformative noncene, I dont write these as blog posts they are a journal I post 1 or 2 a day.
What is the normal practice for this... they are not keyworded or seo'd I dont want them to affect my seo or rankings.
Thanks
Chris

There is honestly no need to worry about having "no keywords" in a post. Google is much more sophisticated than that - and besides, a post like:
"today I went out on a 16 mile bike ride over the chilterns using my Garmin 705, After the first 8 miles I used my hydropak and then continued on up the 3 mile incline which was helped by the quickshift speedwheel, I find that with all riding my ipod helps me and when I finally reached mile point I stopped and refilled the hydropak. "
... includes a whole lot of keywords relevant to cycling, location, accessories, etc. The internet and Google's index would be a very small place if it discredited websites with small entries or entries without keyword-rich text, as well.
I can't imagine a world in which these would hurt you in the slightest.

Will these short posts with no keywords affect the rest of my site if I have it in the sitemap and let google index it?

Can anyone comment on my latest post please?

Hi
Thanks for all the great info..
Basically I work so hard on my main blog I just dont want the smaller blog effecting my ranking etc etc.
I do want people to find the smaller blog and I already syndicate it to twitter and facebook and google+
I dont keyword any of the posts on the smaller blog they are litterly like
"today I went out on a 16 mile bike ride over the chilterns using my Garmin 705, After the first 8 miles I used my hydropak and then continued on up the 3 mile incline which was helped by the quickshift speedwheel, I find that with all riding my ipod helps me and when I finally reached mile point I stopped and refilled the hydropak. "
Im just worried google will see 2 posts a day like that and it will hinder my site?
So to sum up, I do want people to view these although there will be no way to keyword every post.
Do I exclude or include in sitemap?
Im worries that the content being so small will pee off google
Whats the best practice here, my main blog on the same site pulls in most of my traffic.
Thanks

I wouldn't worry about adding the no follow tag - unless you don't want anyone seeing your journal entries. I recommend not linking back to your second blog from the first blog, if you don't want to see traffic.
Google may decide not to index it on their own but they will likely index the pages. Those pages may not get found in SERPs. I do not recommend switching to Tumblr, mainly because it sounds like you don't really want people to see your content and Tumblr will likely find ways to send you traffic (it's a social blog, afterall).
You can keep with your status quo.

Hi Chris,
A short write-up doesn't mean that Google is going to automatically look at this and then slap a penalty on you. I would personally look at how you could enhance these by just covering some best practice basics to help do more with them.
How long has this smaller blog been running for? Have you been penalised so far? I wouldn't necessarily rush to move everything unless there is a need to.

Frankly i wouldnt worry about it. Unless your journal entries are really poor and not unique in any way, I would just carry on. If you ARE really concerned, you can noindex / follow them or better still, move your journal to an external blogging platform if it doesnt fit the theme of the site, something like Tumblr might work well for you by the sounds of it.

Is it convinient to use No-Index, Follow to my Paginated Pages?
I have a website http://www.naukrigulf.com and it has a lot of Paginated pages on its SERP and most of paginated pages are getting indexed in Google SERP. Is it beneficial to use No-Index, Follow to keep the link equity to main (first page), although we have already used rel=next and rel=prev. If Answer is "yes" is their any harm by using no-index, follow with rel=next, rel=prev.

No index, or no index no follow?
Wondering if I could garner some views on this issue please. I'm about to add an affiliate store to a website I own, the site has a couple of pages of unique content (blogs, articles, advice etc on home improvement - all written by my team). Obviously, the affiliate store will not be unique content, it will be made using the datafeeds from cj.com et al, and so I don't want to get any duplicate content type penalties from Google for this store. Should I add a no index to the pages and allow the bots to still crawl them, or should I add no index and no follow? Ideally I would like to get the affiliate store category pages indexed as they will be a mixture of lots of different merchants and be fairly unique. Can Google still mark the site down for duplicate content if it can crawl it, even if it is noindex? Thanks, Carl

Google Doesn't Display A Right Page Title
For some reason Google Displays a wrong page title of some of my pages. E.g. page http://www.imoney.my/home-loan The title in the search reach results says "Home Loan - iMoney", but the one I've set up is <title></span><span class="webkit-html-tag">Housing Loan: Compare Mortgages of All Malaysian Banks @iMoney.my</span><span class="webkit-html-tag"></title> Even when I preview it on the preview tool, it shows the full title, but when I google - again the short one. Does anyone know what the reason for that is?

Only homepage in Google
Hello SEOmozzers, A colleague of mine started up a site here: www.wikiboedel.nl. Sadly only the homepage is indexed in Google. It's a wordpress install. Robots.txt seems fine, all pages are on index and follow. Can't see why only the home is indexed in Google. Do you know whats going wrong? Please tell me. Tank you.

Can't find Text-Only Cached version in Google search
Hi, I'm trying to view the text-only of a webpage to run a SEO audit, however Google does not give me this option. When i click the two arrows that appear to the right of a search result, the only option I get is Cached. Is there a reason this might be happening? I've tried clearing my cookies, signing out of Google, and anything else I could find on my troll of the internet. I also tried text, only please! however whether this works or not is debatable considering it shows me actual pictures on the site. Any ideas, or maybe another add-on that will work?

Original content and the Google Panda Update
We are an online furniture store with about 1300 products on the site, and we mostly use the catalogue descriptions for the product. Recently I have been reading about One Way Furniture: http://ecommerceprnews.com/e-commerce_articles/2011/03/one-way-furniture-shifts-toward-quality-content-after-google-panda-update-201928.htm They are a big american online furniture which seemed to have lost about a 3rd of there traffic due to being punished in the panda update. Now it seems they are blaming the fact they use they use catalogue descriptions for the product (like us), and now they are going to rewrite all their product descriptions. We are a small company and rewriting 1300 products (meaningfully) is no small task. Looking at our own traffic we have taken a small slump since feb after about 18 months of general increased month on month traffic ( bar seasonal dips and boost), but we didn't have a "fall of the cliff" like One Way Furniture. But have been expanding into other areas (and there for new keywords), so we had expected to be increasing our traffic. So the question is, how important is unique content for all our products? is it worth all the time and money to fix all the pages? Our plan is to make sure our category pages (and there for landing pages) have unique content, would that be enough on its own, or are the product pages damaging the site over all?
