Reverse an Ecommerce Transaction in Analytics
-
I am looking for help on using Googles Reverse an Ecommerce Transaction in Analytics work flow documented here: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1037443?hl=en&ref_topic=1037062
Essentially an incorrect transaction was processed that was for such a large number that it is really messing up reporting. I have never used Googles outlined process and from my research it looks like it might not reverse the transaction for the date it was placed but ad a negative amount to offset it on the date submitted. This will still work for year of year reporting but it will mess up the data for two different days in one month. If someone who had done this before has any insight please chime in thanks!
Here is a support thread about the reverse transaction messing up a different days data.

Hi Jared,
Thanks for the heads up re the applied date. I will look out for the improved Google solution.

Dean,
Thanks for your reply! It seems that not many people are familiar with this scenario. Currently I have been using the advanced filter for reporting. However other Managers within the company use GA for some minor reporting and are not familiar with using it so I was hoping to apply the reverse an ecommerce transaction method.
Before implementing the reverse an eCommerce transaction method I discussed the scenario with my Adwords rep who talked with some GA engineers, and confirmed what I had feared which is the reverse transaction will be applied to whatever day it is uploaded not to the day the faulty transaction took place. Which means I will have two days with terribly bad data. Especially because at best a transaction like this will not be found in GA until the next day.
They did state that this has been a very common complaint and that GA is working on a solution to make the process much easier and so that it can apply to back data.

The Reverse an Ecommerce Transaction in Analytics work flow show work fine as it mentions that you should check you are using the same transaction ID for the transaction and item-form data as the one you used for the original purchase. therefore reversing that single transaction.
However they also mention that cancelling a transaction does not remove it. Both the original transaction and the cancelled transaction are included in the transaction count so basically you can only zero the transaction value.
You could also apply an advanced filter to your report excluding the offending transaction ID which would be a simpler solution.

Different statistics in Google Analytics
Hi! A client of mine is having some trouble on his Google Analytics overview. When he checks the yearly report with number of visitors, new visitors, returning, ... he gets statistics that doesn't match mine. Also, he gets a notation from Google that no hits were fired, although the script is still there. On the other hand, I (logged in with another account) am seeing all statistics correctly. FYI: no filters were installed, nor segments, ... Why does the client see different and incorrect statistics? There should be a setting or something I'm overseeing. Hope you guys can help.

Would updating Meta Titles affect Google analytics tracking?
Hi All, I need a little bit of help. We need to optimize our blog's articles Meta titles for SEO which all exceed 100 characters. I was told that if we change the titles, google analytics would split the tracking pages and count the data as 2 pages (old title and new title). Has any of you have this experience before and if so, is there a way to avoid google analytics counting this as two pages? Thanks in advance! WMT data vs. Analytics
Hi Each month I export my data from WMT and go through analytics. I also export our non brand queries from analytics and not WMT - I haven't had an issue before, but this month the impression data is quite different. In the hundreds of thousands different for keywords, everything seems to have taken a big jump and it seems strange. However, not everything is different, I've spot checked some and its; consistent in both, I'm not sure what's going on? One example would be: <colgroup><col width="281"> <col width="72"></colgroup>

Analytics query data shows: | industrial equipment | 670 | WMT Data: | industrial equipment | 143 | Anyone have any idea? Perhaps some kind of tracking issue? Also I've triple checked dates etc...0 -
Google Analytics - Dashboard Question
I'm looking to set up a dashboard widget in Google Analytics that does the following but can't : Shows traffic sources in a table as the dimension, and wanting to show goal completions to a specific product page and then only show what the average time spent (by source) on just those product pages. It looks like it's showing the whole session duration for the entire source, but I want to create a secondary filter that is only showing the time spent on those specific pages. Can anyone help - or is this possible? Thanks all!

How do you setup a test analytics account?
I have created a test view but that is not helping with skewed data. Do you all just create a total separate profile with a different GA account for a non-indexed domain? How can I test tag manager and other things without messing with our data? I have our IP filtered out so it doesn't show up in reports but other event tags from outsiders will.

Does Google Analytics parse visits from search apps?
Does anyone know if Google Analytics reports visits to your website differently from individual search apps like Google and Bing? Or do they just treat them the same as any other keyword visit from Google or Bing search engine? I suppose the end result is probably the same as in the Google app you're using Google so it would just be a different access point versus a new tool. I'm just curious if there is a way to see how many Mobile visits are coming from the apps vs the browser. For me personally I have the Google and Bing iOS apps installed but rarely use them, opting for the Safari search bar 99% of the time.
