Right page to place the Schema code for global business
-
I have two questions:
1. Schema code for Global business: As a company which works with clients across the globe, we like to create a well defined schema that doesn't limit and appear as a Local Business to Google. I assume "http://schema.org/LocalBusiness" means a local business to Google. If we use it, will be be affecting the ranking in global searches?
2. Page and location to keep the code What could be the best place to keep the schema code in a web page? - Homepage/ About us page / contact us page and Footer links are the options. I hope applying CSS on it too wouldn't be an issue.
Looking forward to learning your thoughts.

You can still utilize this form of rich snippets using XHTML
_"In general, RDFa uses simple attributes in XHTML tags (often or _
) to assign brief and descriptive names to entities and properties."

Simply update your site it is not a hard thing to do I would recommend using an HTML 5 boilerplate things are only going to get better for HTML 5 sites and Harder for HTML 4.
if it will not validate using HTML 4 and you are not comfortable trying to get it to work even using
googles highlighting tool which allows you to highlight rich snippets or schema then place it into your website.

use an HTML 5 Bpoiler plate if you keep having problems.
All the best,

But we get error Thomas:
Line 198, Column 41: there is no attribute "data-id"
at

It will work
-
Thank you Thomas for the very detailed response. This gives me better insight on Microdata.
One last question:
Out site is written in XHTML and not in HTML5 and we use the following Doctype
Now Its not valid with W3C XHTML when we tested, Is it just wrong DocType or should we completely rewrite with HTML5?
Thanks,

As long as your website is targeting the right country and using the right language using schema will not harm anything it will improve it.you can use this tool and the one below it to create a organization or corporation schema

Schema and the knowledge graph which requires schema will be instrumental in so many different parts of the website that as long as it is in a natural Spot. For instance if your company has the address listed at the footer of every page it is not spammy use schema similar to the feed the bot postal address schema it is telling the truth and it is doing a good job at it.
You even lose the local part.
The thing is that there are so many new things that are being used when using schema for instance using it in the CSS is not wrong at all many people do that with their logos in order to get them more recognition.
http://www.microdatagenerator.com/organization-logos-schema/
The only time you would be abusing using schema would be the same way you would do anything black hat by looking at it as something that you can try to take advantage of the natural flow of the site and trying to trick Google is only sure not doing that you are not going to be in hot water. Good examples are video, events, reviews, authors all of them can use schema
http://www.microdatagenerator.com/thing-generators/http://www.microdatagenerator.com/image-object-schema/
Knowledge Graph
is based partially on schema and will be used very frequently more & more in the future.Sincerely,
Thomas

Google Business Listing Verification for Unmarked Facilities
We have been trying for over a year to get Google My Business listing verification on our facilities, which are separate from our company HQ. We have 31 facilities around the world that do not have business signs on them. We have tried sending postcards and are told that no one is receiving them. The folks who receive the mail are guards and it's tricky to ensure they field them. This has been an ongoing challenge as Google says that the alternate method requires a business sign located next to the building number, which we don't have. What do you recommend we do to get listed in GMB?

Google My Business - What is the best way to remove "Duplicate Address"? Help!
Google can be such a pain with managing listings - especially when you are an agency managing a client's listing! I am hoping someone can help with this... How do I permanently delete a “duplicate address?” In the Google My Business dashboard (classic view), under account summary – I click duplicate locations. From here, I can easily remove a duplicate location - that is not the issue. The issue is for duplicate addresses. For this, we only have the option to resolve address, which directs you to the business’ location details. Our options are then to: 1. Change the business NAP 2. Permanently close location 3. Remove the listing from your dashboard (removing it from dashboard doesn’t delete it from Google). We edited the business’ name, phone number, address and website – to try and make it a duplicate location, because if we are able to make it a duplicate location then we know we will have the option to **Remove Duplicate. **Nothing has changed though. We don't want to mark this as a permanently closed location because if somebody does come across the listing down the road it is going to be misleading. The business is not actually closed! Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

Children's club Google My Business conundrum
Hi there I have been contacted by a small business to help them with their <acronym title="Search Engine Optimization">SEO</acronym> effort.
Local Listings | | coolhandluc
The business is a children's club offering drama classes, music classes etc... Looking at their online visibility shows they don't even have a Google my business profile which is where i was going to start however, they operate from a local school after hours. The local school already has a GMB profile, obviously with the same address and postcode. Is it possible to set up a GMB for the children's club anyway? Many thanks0 -
Can I use the same interior photos for multiple stores in Google My Business?
Hi, The company I work for has many store locations across the country. Getting good/quality interior pictures has become very difficult for us. We recently good a Virtual Tour from Google for one of the locations, and they took some really pictures. According to Google, the "Photos should represent the actual business" and "Represent the real-world business location". My question is: since our stores are VERY similar in the interior, can we use the same pictures for them while we get more pictures? Would Google penalize this? Thanks!

Another Business is Using My Client's Address
This morning my client contacted me that another business is using their address as their own! They received a Google verification postcard with pin number on it, but luckily had the foresight to not give it to the person when they called. After some research, we also found out that they are using our address on Facebook and LinkedIn as well. The kicker is: this business is another SEO firm! You would think they would know that using our address would cause NAP issues for their own business. Has anyone dealt with another business trying to hijack their address for local rankings? Any advice on steps to take to report this abuse would be appreciated. Since this person is obviously unscrupulous, we don't want to provoke them into taking any other negative action online that could affect our business.

Local Search and Schema.org - Do I need to tag up the "same as" Property to all my citations to help with local rankings?
Hi All, We have implemented Schema.og on our website and this also includes the local business schema for all of our branches. However I've read an article (see below ) which says we should also be doing "same as " property and linking this to ALL of our citations such as google plus page , yelp , bing places, city search etc etc as this will help with citations. I am wondering if anyone has done this ? - And if so , has this helped with local rankings etc - I don't really want to invest the extra costs to get this done if I can't find anywhere that says its made a difference - The article from whitespark - says - "when you create new citations for your business (or for your client’s), it’s a waiting game hoping that Google and the other search engines will find your new citations quickly and make the connection between those listings, the business, and the website. The “sameAs” property can help make that process much quicker _and _easier. Schema.org explains that the “sameAs” property is used along with the “URL of a reference Web page that unambiguously indicates the item's [or business’] identity.” By using the “sameAs” property in your NAP schema markup, you can tell search engines that the business you’ve marked up is the same one found at a certain citation URL Of course, Google+ isn’t the only important citation source. There’s also Bing Places, Facebook, Yelp, Citysearch and a few others. The nice thing about many schema.org properties is that you can use them multiple times in your markup." I am wondering what peoples thoughts were and whether they has implemented this and if so , did it help ? thanks Pete | [sameAs](http://schema.org/sameAs) | URL | URL of a reference Web page that unambiguously indicates the item's identity.
