Exporting .csv
-
I love all the data Roger gives me if I ask him politely. It's awesome to turn that data into a nice looking Excel file for analysis. There is however one situation that gets me into trouble.
When I export CSV, open it in Excel and convert text to columns (seperated by comma) and e.g. a Page Title contains a comma (which often happens); my file seperation is messed up.
Anyone got some tips to handle that?
Thanks in advance mozzers

Yeah, good idea Keri. Wanted to challenge mozzers first but will move on to SEOmoz help.

Could you email help@seomoz.org? They might have an answer for you, since nobody has chimed in here. And if they don't have an answer, they can add it to the queue of suggestions for future improvements.

I want to create a report of only de duplicate content pages as a csv file so i can create a script to canonicalize them.
I want to create a report of only de duplicate content pages as a csv file so i can create a script to canonicalize them. So i get something like: http://example.com/page1, http://example.com/page2, http://example.com/page3, http://example.com/page4, Because I now have to open each in "Issue: Duplicate Page Content", and this takes a lot of time. The same for duplicate page title.

CSV export of Open Site Explorer is incomplete.
I exported my back links report from the Open Site Explorer toolbar as a CSV but the file it showed was only about 400 urls. The tool bar is listing over 1,200 links, so at first I thought maybe it was only exporting one link for each unique domain, but it only lists 200 or so unique domains linking to my site. I know it will only export 10,000 urls, but obviously I'm significantly below this level. Here is a link to a competitors site which is having the same issue.

SEOmoz Crawl CSV in Excel: already split by semicolon. Is this Excel's fault or SEOmoz's?
If for example a page title contains a ë the .csv created by the SEOmoz Crawl Test is already split into columns on that point, even though I haven't used Excel's text to columns yet. When I try to do the latter, Excel warns me that I'm overwriting non-empty cells, which of course is something I would rather not do since that would make me lose valuable data. My question is: is this something caused by opening the .csv in Excel, or earlier in the process when this .csv is created?

OSE Linking Domains CSV Export Blank?
For some client domains, I've tried to do a CSV export from the OSE Linking Domains page, I get a CSV that contains the typical OSE header text, but no output records. Before I click the CSV link I always choose "show domains with links to All pages on the Root Domain". It doesn't happen with every domain I've tried this with, and when I've had the time/patience, some of the time if I try hours later, I get data. The problem though is I rarely have the luxury of running reports a second time during the audit cycle. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it a bug, or just an export fail due to system resources or something?
