Why is my DA 1?!
-
Hi all,
I blog at www.thebeautyswatch.com and have a dismal DA of 1! Does anyone know why?
Thanks,

Harriet,
It looks like you're doing a good job maintaining a posting schedule but I'd say that with your broad topics, you may be biting off more than you can chew, as far as defining and speaking to a target audience. If your blog doesn't have an audience that is engaged enough to comment on posts and share post content with others, authority for the domain will remain low.
Your posts cover topics from home decor/accessories to dating, to makeup, to gyms, to love, to wishlists and there's no doubt that these topics easily fall within the realm of health and beauty and are relevant to a broad audience. But authority and pagerank are about audience engagement and links, which are hard to get unless you're able to communicate on a intimate level with your audience. Big time publishers with staffs of writers are better able to do that on the scale of diverse topics that you are attempting.
I recommend choosing a core topic that may overlap into the various areas that you like to write about but which, by itself, is far less competitive and far more focused. Focus on you, for example. Focus on what makes you interesting and then on how dating, gyms, love, wishlists, decor each/all make you more interesting to those you wish will find you interesting. You're much more likely to gain authority like that.

Hey HarrietB!
For starters, your domain was just registered on February 22, 2013

Second, you don't have any other sites linking to your domain. See the screenshot I attached from OSE.
I wouldn't focus too much effort on your DA or PA as these numbers will naturally increase over time. Stay focused on creating quality content that visitors will find useful and like, share, etc. This will help develop your authority. Hope this helps!!

This is probably due to a couple reasons:
One reason might be your lack of links pointing to your site. There's aren't a lot of websites linking to you, and the ones that are, aren't of high authority.
Another reason might be that the blog network you're apart of appears to be selling links. I'm not sure if Moz's DA takes that into consideration, but I know Google does. You can see what I'm talking about under the "SEO" heading here: http://www.etailpr.com/bloggernetwork/advertisers

How does WordPress 3.5.1 impact site rankings?
We have a user interested in having a WordPress 3.5.1 blog on their own existing, robust site. There is a blog module available in the CMS but the user feels more familiar with WordPress. It will be set up at the root as a subdirectory. Based on the URL structure, Google should see the WordPress blog and the user's website as the same website. (www.website.com/wordpress). There will not be a 301 needed. Does using the Wordpress module impact rankings? We've understood that Google doesn't care for Wordpress because 99% of spammers use it... is that only if it is hosted on WordPress.com? Also, are there any other reasons that our user should use/avoid WordPress?

Duplicate content - 6 websites, 1 IP. Is the #1 site knocked down too?
Yes I know, running multiple websites on 1 IP isn't smart. 6 Websites with duplicate content on 1 IP is even worse. It's a technical issue we can't solve quickly. Thing is, our #1 website, which has the highest DA and PR, was the first website with all this content. All other websites we're running were launched a few months, and some a few years, later. All content was copied from the #1 website. I'd say the other websites would get knocked down by Google, because they duplicated the content. Google should see that our #1 website was the first that uploaded this content. Therefore our #1 website should rank normally. Questions is: What does Google think of duplicate content when all websites are on 1 IP? Is, or will our #1 website get punished as well?

I have created 2 blogs for a client as they have 2 domains (1 for their core business, and 1 for a product). I want to use the same content on both blogs. What is the best way to set this up so there are no ranking or duplicate content issues?
We are pushing SEO for only one of the domains, therefore I would like one to be dominant. We will be sending the blog post via email to their database, therefore each blog needs to have the same content. Thank you!

Why does my lousy little blog Rank number 1 on Google?
Search "Google Places Changes." My Blog, www.salesjumpstart.net/blog is ranked first. Has been for a week. Why? Makes no sense. I have been getting many first page Google results for 3 and 4 word keyword searches. The site or Blog just isn't that strong. http://www.google.com/search?q=Google+places+hchanges&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a#sclient=psy&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=uFR&rls=org.mozilla:en-US%3Aofficial&source=hp&q=Google+places+changes&pbx=1&oq=Google+places+changes&aq=f&aqi=g2g-j1g-b1&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=4293l4293l0l4628l1l1l0l0l0l0l271l271l2-1l1l0&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&fp=661c0b1152c259b4&biw=1024&bih=583
