An SEO companies position
-
One worrying thought following a meeting with a friend in the Poker industry was when he told me he heard some rival companies tried to spam other sites with paid listings a few years ago ?
Does this happen all the time ? Also could it happen in other industries ?
I was worried when hearing this news and then thought about an SEO companies position in all of this.
Could an SEO company be falsely blamed for this sort of behaviour ? Is it is better to cover these things in contracts with customers.
-
thats good to know thanks chaps I was getting worried for a moment back then.
-
I've never seen or heard of it actually happening, except one example I was given where it was attempted but ended up boosting the competitors rankings. It's highly unlikely to ever be an issue in my opinion.
-
thanks do you think it would be a wize move to place this in any contract or agreement with a client to avoid any problems in the future.
-
It does happen often, I've seen clients of mine suddenly hit with thousands of fake inbound links from garbage sites, Chinese sites, etc. I'm a relatively small fish so if it's happened to me I'm certain it happens on a much larger scale. I can't see how any one particular company could be singled out and blamed. There is the burden of proof, and without an actual credit card transaction or some other form of evidence how could anyone make that claim and have it stick? There are literally dozens of companies on the internet right now where, for $25, they will go out and spam the internet using software/bots to any link/text that you request. I'm sure there's no verification that you're the actual owner of the website when this is taking place. Since anyone can do it to anyone else, it's best to stay on top of what's going on for your clients but don't worry about it too much. Any time I have seen this happen I've always notified the client with a brief status update that something is going on. From the standpoint, mostly, of making sure that the owner of the company or an employee is doing something stupid without my knowledge.

paid guest posts or purchasing backlink from Authority website is Black Hat SEO or safe?
Hi dear MOZ community members, I am a new blogger. I need some suggestions while link building for the blog: duplicate bills. If I buy backlinks from authority websites through guest posts then is this safe for my website or is it black hat SEO and could lead to penalization by Google? Kindly guide me.

Local SEO - Directory Submissions Not Counting Towards External Links
I'm trying to raise the authority of a clients website. It's a local business so I'm submitting it to various applicable high authority business directories to earn more external links. I've submitted it to about 15 directories so far; however when I run Moz's Open Site Explorer, it doesn't state that any of these directories are linking. It's been about 3 weeks now so I assume that's enough time for the directory submissions to be indexed by Google. Has anyone else run into this problem, and if so how did you solve this so these links are counted?

Forum signature links and SEO
Regarding this article on forum signature links, is this good advice? http://searchtempo.com/forum-signature-links-and-seo/ Doesn't Google suggest a nofollow on these types of forum links? On a related matter, is it a good practice to add a Google Plus link in forum signatures? Best,

Is blog commenting still useful for SEO, post Panda and Penguin?
One website I checked is ranking well on Google. Upon checking its backlinks, I found that most of them are blog comments. Is blog commenting still valuable? Anyone encountered any recent problem (ranks gone down, etc)? Are there any specific strategy to blog commenting these days? Thanks!

I am hoping we could these following questions: Why we had 1000+ errors; consist of diff errors (page duplicate title, missing meta desc, too many links, title element too long,404 errors, redirect errors) while raven tools have only 100+ errors which is meta desc error Are those 1000+ errors from moztool are really significant? How to fix each of the error and what will be the result? we tried some way Meta Desc - provided meta desc 404 error - provide live links dup page title - change the other page's title - will it affect the seo ranking of the page? we believe its yes, so is it necessry to fix the error? title element too long - we understand that some of the pages have too long title, to fix the error we need to change the title to shorter ones, but we are afraid if it will affect the seo ranking, just like the previous q too many links - we understand that these links are from the submission we made previously, how will we fix this error? Whats the recommended number of blog posts per page? Hoping to get answers from the experts! Thanks

Seo industry for seasonal items
Just wondering what type of link building people do for seasonal sites take http://www.sukkahworld.com or http://www.wreathsgalore.com as an example Out of season nobody wants to talk about a Christmas wreath. Do you just a get links off topic or focus on on site content and then get all your links during your season?
