Can i get a list of internal and external links from moz?
-
My issue is that i have 133k external links and 730k total links. And from what i've read on the forums this means that we have about 597k internal links (730k total links minus 133k external links). And this seems like HUGE number of internal links. I somehow think it might be affecting our seo rankings as it might look like some "fishy" practice to Google.
So in the graphs i can see that this number of total links has actually risen from 400k to 700k in the past months.. And since our external link count hasn't changed that much it means the number of internal links has grown a lot. So my idea is to check what are these internal links so I can better understand where they come from.
Can anyone explain how come we have such a HUGE number of internal links? And more importnantly how can we see a list of these internal links so we could possibly rectify this and check if all is in order?
I am adding a screnshot to give better insight

Hi,
So it sounds like you have ~20 internal links per page, which is not unreasonable and shouldn't be a point of concern.
However, if you are still worried, then I'd worry less about finding a specific list of links to dig into - at this scale that likely won't be very helpful or actionable.
I'd recommend that you reviewed the "Top Pages" report in OSE to see which pages have a large bulk of links. Then I'd do a review of the internal site architecture looking at the major elements (top and side navigation, footer links, any dynamic menu systems) and see whether there are places just to tighten that up a little. You can use what you learnt from the 'top pages' report to help inform this review.
However, as I said - I'd certainly not feel you need to go overboard unless you have additional reasons to think that this might be a problem.
Good luck!

I thought about that also but its not the case.. when i try that i get around 30k indexed pages in google

go to google and search for:
site:domain.comyou get all indexed pages. i think that is what he means.

Hi Sajeet ..what do you mean by "Just check site: data and see if the number approximately matches the number of internal links data." where do i check that?
-
Hi,
For getting data related to internal links, you can select the URL filter and select contains -"Your domain name". Since we get target URL as well we can get data related to internal links.
In most of the cases, such a huge number of internal links results from top navigation or footers that are spread across all the pages of the website. In such cases I would not worry. Just check site: data and see if the number approximately matches the number of internal links data.
Hope this helps.
Regards,
Sajeet

Of course. the moz tool Open Site Explorer is perfect for that! And also the fresh web explorer is a great tool as well to find the newest links to you or to your competitor.

Internal links: How do I find keywords that are not linked to a URL?
Hi Moz members I'd really like to place an internal link of every instance of an important keyword phrase "cycling caps" or "cycling cap" to my eComm category page
Link Building | | andystorey
https://www.prendas.co.uk/collections/headwear/cotton-caps I feel this would not only help my customers browsing my store, but I believe it will help from an SEO perspective. How can I search my site using Moz, Screaming Frog, Google etc to find every time cycling cap(s) is used but is not linked to the above URL? I can then apply the same for cycling jerseys, socks, etc Andy0 -
What causes total external links to fluctuate so much?
On my dashboard, external links refers to links on other websites pointing to my own website, correct? If so, I'm seeing some interesting data on my report this week. Apparently I have 129 external links. This is down by 380. What the heck happened here? I've been doing nothing differently, just chugging along, producing good content. What on earth would cause 380 links to my website just up and disappear? I'm also tracking a competitor. This competitor currently has 3,262 external links. But this is up by 1,900 from the previous update. What the heck happened here? I know it's probably impossible to tell for sure, but what could have caused such a meteoric growth in my competitor? I can see if they already had 50,000 and they increased by 1.9k, but 1.9k is a significant fraction of their current external links.

No-index tags-Can they be used in internal linking?
On my site http://villasdiani.com I am using yoast seo plugin and have I am using tags to organize category with villas on self-catering, full board etc but I have them set no-index as I believe they would create only duplicate content for the categories. Is it still ok to use this tags for internal linking? Example: I have a post in my blog which links to category Beach Villas(they are set to be indexed) and I would like to add option also for self-catering villas itself, which is a tag(set no-index) I am not sure if I am getting this right. Thank you very much, Iris

Can these unnatural links from a site that was hacked hurt me?
After reading the article http://www.seomoz.org/ugc/identifying-link-penalties-in-2012 I decided to do some investigating to see if I to have suffered from link penalties. After using site explorer I found a ton of over optimized unnatural links from jnjbtw.com and other pharmacy sites. See screen shot: My site is a website about kayak fishing we clearly have nothing to do with pharmacy, doctors or drugs. I know similar questions have been asked before about spam sites linking to you and if they affect you or not but this is about how overly optimized the links that are going to my site are. Would this flag penguin to add a penalty to my website? Any idea how jnjbtw.com has all these links to my site were they hacked?

New ways to get links (excluding on site link bait)?
Fellow SEOs, I’m looking for a new way to reach out to bloggers and site owners for links. There are quite a few link bait techniques to lure bloggers thanks to = amazing content, infographics,...but there are not so many articles on ways to contact bloggers/webmasters and ask for links... We all know that contacting site owners directly and politely asking then to place a link on their home page is as useful as a comb in Bruce willis’s hand. Link exchange is as dead as the Dodo and business partner links are usefull and easier to get but opportunities are often limited. I have been organizing contests for bloggers recently and it has been quite successful up to now, but I always like to have a spare trick up my sleeve. So if any of you have a decent method to reach out to bloggers/webmaster and get decent links please let me know, I will be forever thankful ; ) Cheers
