Hi all! Do you have any great resources on Google Tag Manager Version 2? I'm looking for some help and I keep seeing info on V1, which looks pretty different. I'm having quite a bit of trouble implementing it correctly.

Thanks, Kane! Sorry I didn't respond earlier. I've taken a screenshot of a basic tutorial I've been reading. My question is where does the "Click ID" come from? I'm trying to track clicks to social media profiles, for example, or for when someone submits their email address (the contact form is javascript--doesn't redirect to a thank you page).
There is no "id" for the social media profile links, but there is a "class." My question is where does "smshrt" come from in the screen shot below? The author of this post gives no more information about his Click ID.

So that statement appears to be referring to a GTM event tracking tag. The filter means that when someone is on a specific page and clicks on a specific link, it will send an event to GA. I believe "Click ID" is referring to the HTML id tag for the element being clicked.
Send me the exact URL you're seeing that on and I can clarify further.

Thank you! I have a pretty basic question about this statement, which is one thing I've been struggling with with all these guides.
You also need to set up filters to specify when your link click trigger should fire. For example, I want to fire a tag on the page whose URL contains ‘/shop/men/shirts/’ and when the ‘Click ID’ is ‘smshrt’.
The 'Click ID' -- is it set up only in Google Analytics? Is there also somewhere in GTM to set that up as well? Or do I need to include it in the link's HTML on the site as well? I know GTM is designed so that marketers don't have to rely on getting into the code too much (and for some of my clients it's nearly impossible to get anything done in there).

Is the meta meta referrer tag still used and is it affective. I have an issue with traffic going from one of my sites to a client site and our referral is going into their direct traffic (in Googel Analytics) instead of being seen as a referral from our site. I saw that people were using the meta referral tag, but I can't find any MOZ info about it other than a blog article from 2015.

Hi All, For my Ecommerce site I have done lots of tracking total I do have total 45 event tracking but many times one event, track many pages. So if visitors click on url or button then do my site speed affect because of these trackings? Thanks!

I have a WP site which uses categories to display the same content in several locations. Which items should get a canonical tag to avoid a ding for duplicate content?
So...I have a Knowledge Center and press room that pretty much use the same posts. So...technically the content looks like its on several pages because the post shows up on the Category listing page. Do I add a Canonical tag to each individual post...so that it is the only one that is counted? Also...I have a LONG disclaimer that goes at the bottom of most of the posts. would this count as duplicate content? Is there a way to markup a single paragraph to tell the spiders not to crawl it?

URL Formatting for Internal Link Tagging
After doing some research on internal campaign link tagging, I have seen conflicting viewpoints from analytics and SEO professionals regarding the most effective and SEO-friendly way to tag internal links for a large ecommerce site. It seems there are several common methods of tagging internal links, which can alter how Google interprets these links and indexes the URLs these links point to. Query Parameter - Using ? or & to separate a parameter like cid that will be appended to all internal-pointing links. Since Google will crawl and index these, I believe this method has the potential of causing duplicate content. Hash - Using # to separate a parameter like cid that will be appended to all internal-pointing links. Javascript - Using an onclick event to pass tracking data to your analytics platform Not Tagging Internal Links - While this method will provide the cleanest possible internal link paths for Google and users navigating the site and prevent duplicate content issues, analytics will be less effective. For those of you that manage SEO or analytics for large (1 million+ visits per month) ecommerce sites, what method do you employ and why? Edit* - For this discussion, I am only concerned with tagging links within the site that point to other pages within the same site - not links that come from outside the site or lead offsite. Moz analytics showing joomla tag feature as duplicate page content
Moz Analytics is showing Joomla 3 tag pages as Duplicate Page Content because many articles are tagged with multiple words and therefore show up on the same tag-pages. example URL: www.domain.com/tag/tagID-tagname I already added "tag" as a URL parameter with Crawl=No URLs. Is there anything else I should do?

Meta Robots Tag - What's it really mean?
I used on a handful of pages recently and noticed that they're still popping up in the Google search index. I'd like to keep these from appearing, so I figured I needed a directive statement with stronger semantic meaning. From what I understand, is what I'm looking for. Using this will keep Google from not only crawling the page, but indexing the page, as well. I decided to see what the official robotstxt.org website said about it, so I checked (link here): the NOFOLLOW directive only applies to links on this page. It's entirely likely that a robot might find the same links on some other page without a NOFOLLOW (perhaps on some other site), and so still arrives at your undesired page. So, is their explanation saying that the page itself will be indexed, but the content / links on it won't be followed / indexed? Let me hear your thoughts, mozzers.
