What are your opinions on the Google News vs Spanish Government Issue ?
-
Greg Sterling said: "Governments across Europe are justifiably alarmed by the declining fortunes of their respective newspaper industries. However punitive or parasitic taxation measures targeting Google, masquerading as copyright protections, are not the answer."
Do you agree?

If the Spanish government is smart it will reverse or revise these rules. If they don't reverse or revise their publishers will be starved of revenue and with that their quality must drop - if they don't go out of business.

Thanks for the explanation and your answer !

The reason i mention it's a good idea to post the article is because not everyone will know the author or its context and it gives them an opportunity to read and if they want comment with their opinion which is what you are asking for.
The comments in that thread are interesting there is also https://www.seroundtable.com/google-news-spain-down-19580.html
I find it amusing that it somewhat backfired in the Spanish government just like it did with Germany and now they are faced with doing far more harm than good.
The term "justifiably alarmed" is just the authors opinion and as far as i am aware i don't know of any governments alarmed, its an age where people want instant news and with no or little cost most of the time via smart phones its not hard to see why papers are going down hill. The main problem is many places that publish "news" are not professionals and normally don't cite sources etc. and can get in some very bad situations but i digress.

If the government want to throws toys out of the pram Google has no problems upping and leaving until they come to their sense in my opinion.
Lastly remember this doesn't come in until Jan 2015 so there is still time for change.

By the way I didn't ask the question because I read it on Searchengineland, I'm Spanish and I live in Spain and this affects me. I've read a couple more Spanish articles before that one. I just quoted it because I thought it summarized the whole thing in a good way.

I quoted the name of the man who said that parragraph, and I'm asking for your opinion, have you got one ?
Thanks for putting the link.

What do people think of Google discouraging guest blogging
Google is recommending that websites nofollow any links from press releases or guest blogging. Do people think this is really the new standard and sites could get penalized for guest blogging with follow links? Is anyone changing their strategy after hearing this announcement? Where does this leave people who work in difficult niches (such as gambling)?

Google Trusted Stores
Hello, So we sell millions of dollars a month in merchandise - most of that comes from eBay transactions. We do have a script that posts to eBay and we do download our transactions from eBay and process the orders from our admin. Now I feel we will do a lot better in the SERPs if we have the trusted stores quality signal. However; it comes down to this. The conversion pixel. Since the don't pay through the site - do you think we can get away of sending a email to a second conversion page for eBay transactions? Have any of you noticed a boost in SERPs once you were approved with the Trusted Stores? Any advise?

If I have a Google+ Business page, do I need a Google Places page as well?
It seems like the two are redundant? Any official word on this? I'm fairly OCD about things being tidy and I dont want to split my reviews / shares / etc between two profiles. Are they not the same thing? I searched for my company, both my plus business page and my places page came up. I attached a SS of the situation. placesvplus.png

So, Google is the best site on the internet.. Right? Or is that just what most people tend to think off-face?
LOL woah, put the guns away. I'm not about to rant, I just have a question and wanted to present it well. Then again, I might have actually found some easy fixes to some of Google's tools that they could make. So here's the thing. I noticed how annoyed I always getting when I have to sign in every time I go to the adwords keyword tool, or analytics. Why do you have to sign in a million times? I think it is a problem that can be fixed because if you go to check your webmaster tools, you go straight into your account, where you can then select which site you want to explore. It knows that I am already signed in to Google Accounts when I go to webmaster tools, but it doesn't recognize that fact when I go to my Analytics account, or to use the Adwords Keyword Tool. Now, every site has things that they need to work on, but not necessarily that need to be 'fixed'. Google being so commonly accepted as the best site on the net, I thought it was funny/interesting at the least to point out the problem. Even funnier is the fact that I could submit it as a problem to see if they could fix it or not, but they do such a good job of making it hard for people to contact them, that A) I don't feel like wasting my time trying B) I don't even really know if it is possible to do that. Also, why is there no official Google Analytics App / Mobile site?? Google has been pushing how important mobile is to us webmasters, but then it doesn't seem to be very high on their priority list for the tools that we use. I mean you can't view graphs on phones / tablets (mine at least), in webmaster tools, OR google analytics. Also, its a pain in the but to click the sign in button on Google Analytics when using my phone / tablet, it disapears really fast for me (needs more research from others to see if everyone has the same problem) Thanks for the interest / answers everybody. Look forward to hearing from you guys. Also, tips and help would be nice if anybody knows a solution to my sign in issue
