Awesome ranking (place 1/2) but my CTR is damn low! Some thoughts...
-
Hey all,
with a few projects I'm ranking really great. Having a good amount of impressions with terms that have decent search volume.
Webmasters shows:
- "tax consultant city" Ranking 1.4 => 1056 imp => 3% CTR
- "seo city" Ranking 1.2 => 329 imp => 1% CTR
Whats up here?
- Competitors are seaching a lot but not clicking?
- Brand issues? Can't believe that.
- Title is boring? German titles a are longer... So I don't have enough room to play. Should I get rid of important keywords? Maybe I don't need them to rank? Gives me room for tests.
- Local Box is steeling all the clicks? We are in the local listings and above.
- Payed Ads are steeling all the clicks? At this point we don't use AdWords because of high costs and our great organic rankings
It would be great to hear your thoughts.
Cheers

I see the same thing.
I rank #2 in the organic SERPs for a really good money term... and I have a really low clickthrough rate. But, there are lots of ads above me.... and image results above me.... and shopping results on the right.... and more ads on the right.
I bet google is making buckets of money from all of those ads and the big beautiful images in the shopping results.

Hi,
Click rate seems incredibly low for 1.4 position. With no additional info it's very difficult to asses what could be the cause. Normally title+meta description are the elements which are important for you click rate (for local only the title). May be the copy could be improved?
Would it be possible to add a screen copy with the actual search results (you can always black out your brandname / url if you want to keep that private)
When I check my own sites in Webmastertools - the only case where I get such low click rates is when people are looking for images, and Google is displaying the image box on the top of the results with 6 images. Even when we are the second image that is shown, the click rate is only 2% (this figure is also coming from a German site).
In Local search results key info (like location, phone number,...etc) is revealed without the need of clicking to the site, which could also lead to low click rates (guess this is probably more in the case of tax consultant than seo)
rgds,
Dirk

Hi Ralph - I am german to, so would you tell me the target city that i can take a look at the SERP?
Competitors are seaching a lot but not clicking <- yes a lot, special SEO Berlin etc. ectremly. I asked some SEOs here in Berlin. Search it x-times a day
title isn't boring - the #newland factor we have, let people klick nearly everything, sad but true. "SEO | SEO | SEO & SEO" would be klicked if its on P1.
One thing, with our local 7 box and the max. 3 results above, when the local 7 box is shown a lot of people think "all above is adwords" . I testet ist with nearly 100 people, 30 thought its adwords, 20 just clicked adwords cause it looks so clickable

Google listing only appears when I move / zoom in or out of the map
Hi everyone, We are having an issue with this local business. The Google listing isn't immediately appearing on the map. You have to move the map or zoom in and out for the listing to appear. I find this really odd as our competitors - with no reviews and way further in proximity - are appearing with no issues. The listing is only about 4km where I'm doing the search, while competitors with no reviews are about 20km away. We are ranking in the top 5 organically for the search term I used (pool renovations brisbane), but nowhere in local unless the map is moved. When the listing appears, sometimes the pin also looks grey instead of red, while others are red (if that makes sense). On top of this, their organic rankings have also been on a downward trend since June. I'm currently doing a backlink audit to see if it's contributing to the issue. If anyone also has other ideas, could you please let me know? Thanks.

Do you need contact details (NAP) on every page of your website for local search ranking ?
We’ve got a clients site which doesn't have the contact details on every page, all the contact details are on the /contact page which is using the schema.org local business markup Some sites that our outranking us locally have their contact details on all pages, where as others only have it on the contact page also. Is having your contact details on every page a ranking factor for local search ?

1 company, 2 shop locations, 3 Google+ pages - help!
Hello, I work for a furniture retailer and I'm doing an audit of our digital presence and need a hand with our G+ pages. Thanks for reading! We are one company but with two shops, located about 10 miles apart. One shop has been established over 10 years, the other is roughly a year old. The shops are called: 'Our Company' and 'Our Company, Second Location' Each shop has its own website (which is confusing and we'll hopefully shortly revert back to just one) We currently have three Google+ profiles: the first G+ was set up a number of years ago and was set up as a personal page, not a business and it links to both shop's websites. The other two G+ pages appear to have been created when we created a Google Local listing for each shop. My questions are: What is the best tool to handle all this info across the web? Bright Local looks good. Should I junk the original G+ profile? If I do, how will I know I won't remove any important stuff from Google? Should I keep 2 G+ profiles, one for each store or have 1 G+ profile and put both store's details in there. Or should I have 3 G+ profiles: 1 for our company name, and 1 for each of our 2 locations? When I search for 'Our Company', I only ever get our original company to show in the Google Local listing on the right hand side of search results. Our second shop is shown in 'People also search for'. Is this the best I can hope for? Is there any way to control this? Both of the G+ profiles that are linked to our Google Local listings have the original G+ URL. Should I customise this and if so, are there any naming conventions I should follow? What should we do with the (2?) G+ profiles for each shop? Both have currently got no content on them. Thanks in advance for any tips and advice.

My #1 (A) ranking client in Maps is now #38 after update?
We have a client with 4 locations and all of them do pretty well in Google Maps. Since the latest update, we dropped from #1 (A) all the way down to #38 in Maps. We're still #1 for our keyword in Organic but our Maps got crushed. We use Yext for the citations but we also do some a lot manual ones too. We have 3 reviews on that location but not sure why the big drop. I'm not even sure where to being to get it back. From our research: We noticed our categories were a little out of order. Our primary was "legal services" instead of "personal injury attorney" (we've now updated that.) I've noticed that all the listings ahead of us, minus a few of them, have their homepage as their link. We've always used a local landing page that has hand written directions on how to find us, our hours and who people will meet when they come in. Things relevant to that location. Our domain authority is a 40. Our homepage Page Authority is 49 and our landing page for that location is a 22. What else should we check to see what's happened? Should I move the Google+ page to the homepage instead of the sub-page (as well as the citations we have)? Thanks for your help!

Help with Google Places, local listings & Google+ please!
Hi all, I work for enterprise app development & mobile consultancy, Mubaloo. I recently asked a question around getting better rankings for London-based search results. One answer was to set up a local listing for Mubaloo's London office. I thought I had done by setting up our London office up on Places for Business - is this the same as a local listing? In addition to this, I can't connect our existing Google+ page to our local Mubaloo Bristol & London listings as Google has created separate pages for each! Is anyone else having this issue? Can it be resolved?
