Positioning rethinking regarding triplicate keyword "landing pages"
-
Hi!
We're rethinking our website and we have some doubts on how it would affect our positioning.
Our main keyword right now is "casas de madera". Positioning by this keyword we have three different "main" pages:
- Our home (http://www.canexel.es/)
2)SEO landing page (http://www.canexel.es/casas-de-madera/)
3)A blog section (http://www.canexel.es/blog/casas-de-madera/)
We thought at first about changing our home main keyword, but this option has been ruled out since is the keyword that gives us the most visits and changing it would result on a rebrandindg strategy we are not sure we want to pursue.
We're thinking about a canonical from the landing page (2) to our Home (1) and making it disappear from our website.
Regarding our blog we've thought about removing the blog section. We've thought about a 301 from every post to a new category or just deleting the category "casas de madera" from our site and telling google not to index the section (3) but continue indexing the posts we already have published under this category.
Would any of these harm our positioning? And, if so, is ther any other steps you wolud recomend us taking?
In this same topic, we're about to create a SEM Landing page for this same keyword. This page will be very visual and with little text. We are not sure if we should have a canonical pointing from it to our home or just not indexing the new SEM landing page. What would you recommend?
Thanks

I think it's appropriate to have your home page target your top traffic/revenue keyword. Since it looks like the "SEO landing page" does go into more detail about the product, rather than simply 301ing or using the canonical tag to point to the homepage, why not retarget the page to focus on a lower-traffic but still important topically-related keyword? That way, you still have a page that you can send users to when they want more information than your home page offers, but you're not cannibalizing your own keyword traffic.
I certainly don't see any reason to take down your entire blog, unless there is another reason for doing so besides your concerns about keyword cannibalization. Since your blog category around casas de madera has no unique content and only serves as a category page, you could tag it with if you were really concerned about it outranking your home page, but you are probably fine to leave it as-is.
I always recommend noindexing SEM landing pages, so that's what I would do there.

Pages that people refer to as "SEO pages" are often not very good pages for user experience. How do the blog and SEO pages compare? I'd keep the page with the better content, or even combine them. (Though that will depend on your overall plan for the blog.)
As far as the SEM page, you wouldn't use a canonical because it will not be identical to your homepage. It is common to noindex SEM pages, which is what I would do in this case.

Wrong page ranking on SERP, above more relevant page
Often I will see the wrong page, something less relevant to a particular search, appear higher on the SERP than a more relevant page. Why does this happen and how can it be remedied? I found this Moz article, has anything been written on this topic more recently. Thanks! https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions

Moz is advising that a page has too many of the same keywords.
But this sub-category page includes products that have the keyword in the product name. Should I be concerned?

Page Speed
Google recommends a page load speed of 1.4 seconds, is it recommended to have that page speed for every page on the site, or just the landing pages. Is there a tool that will check the load speed of every page on a site and report the slow pages? The free online tools only check one page at a time.

If I put 'keyword/url' combination to 'stop run weekly', will it dissapear from the summary page in the on-page grader?
The summary page of the on-page grader chooses the keyword and url combination itself. Now if I choose another combination, I would like the former to dissapear from the summary page. The only option is 'stop running weekly'. But will it disappear from the list also?

The "100 links/page recommendation" - Do Duplicate Links Count?
We have way too many links on our homepage. The PageRank Link Juice Calculator (www.ecreativeim.com/pagerank-link-juice-calculator.php) counts them to 300. But all of them are not unique, that is some links point to the same URL. So my question: does the "100 links/page recommendation" refer to all anchors on the page or only to unique link target URLs? I know "100" is just a standard recommendation.

Dupelicate content home page and custom page question
I am working on a website that got hit by the penguin update. Didn't get hit terribly bad, but dropped from number one to number 9. As I'm going through the pages, the theme and content is a mess. To give an example, say the site is about custom colored marbles. The main page content covers custom colored marbles, custom promotional marbles, custom glass marbles, etc. Custom colored marbles is mentioned and covered on all pages, which I am going back and trying to make each page theme specific. There is also a custom page, so I am at a cross roads on how best to employ the focus of the custom page and the home page. I am thinking the home page should emphasize colored marbles, and the custom page should emphasize custom colored marbles. My fear is that making such a drastic change will bounce the site completely off front page and that it will take time for the custom page to come up in rankings. AS it stands now I am confused as to how it even ranks on first page as there's two pages with custom colored marbles emphasis. Id like to clean this up as much as possible so there are no big hits with future google updates, but I don't want the site to drop off either as that would be hard to explain to the owner. Yeah, we are cleaning up your site and making it google compliant and in so doing you no longer rank on first page. That won't put food on the table. Thanks for any advise on this.

Does link text "more information" have more weight than a normal link?
Does the anchor text "more information" hold any additional weight than any other anchor text? My suspicion is no, but just wanted to confirm.
