Can't identify the real source of a goal because subdomains in GA

Hello,
I have one domain for my website (www.domain.com) where I receive all the new traffic and a subdomain (billing.domain.com) for the billing system.
Im tracking both in Analytics.
I have a goal (new order) configured in the subdomain -billing system-.
But when I want to track the source / medium of the goals (new orders) in billing.domain.com, always appears my main website (www.domain.com) as the referral.
Now I added in Analytics: Admin > Property > Referral Exclusion List, the www.domain.com and domain.com.
Do you think that now I can track the real referrer of the goals?
Or should I do a more complex tracking setup with Tag Manager ( https://support.google.com/tagmanager/answer/6106951 ) to pass the session cookies from a subdomain to another one, just to identify the real source / medium of the visitor?

Have you tried treating your sub-domains like a cross domain and passing the cookie to it:
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/analyticsjs/cross-domain
This should fix your problem, but you will need to make sure that your URIs are unique across both your main and sub domain.

Google Analytics Not Properly Attributing Goals
My GA has been working fine for years and is now suddenly attributing 100% of my goals/conversions to a "referral" source. In this case "crm.zoho.com". (see attached url) Our contact form is a zoho CRM form. When prospect fills it out online, it dumps them to a thank-you page and the conversion is counted. That all works just fine, but it is not attributing the conversion to Organic or PPC or Direct as it was a month or so ago. I'm not sure if this may be the cause, but I was cleaning up GA about a month ago, deleting some filters I didn't think I needed any more. Thank you for your help. 9CRUx

Multiple GA codes, one site.
Hi all, Is anyone running two GA codes on one website successfully? My organisation own a number of websites so we used to have one global GA code on all our sites to track global stats, and then we would also have site unique GA on each property to just track that one property. This worked fine, but of late we seem to be getting no data from the globally based code. Obviously, with the site-specific codes we can enter the name for that domain in GA but for the overall code, it is called 'all.com' I'm wondering if Google has now tied the GA domain to the code or if we are doing something wrong. All the codes are the same as they always were but have stopped working. As a stop gap, we have swapped to using Piwik as the all.com code. However, we are then comparing the stats in two different analytics programs so will get a different result. Also, it would be nice to be able to add the all.com to tools such as this to generate weekly reports. Anyone else having GA woe like this? Thanks. Carl

I've hit a wall. What's next?
I've been working on creating content and optimizing my website for the past 18 months, and have seen decent gains in organic traffic. Recently my keyword ranking increases have slowed dramatically, despite adding additional content. I'm hoping a fresh set of eyes can spot something that may be holding me back. I appreciate any feedback the MOZ community is able to provide. One area of concern/confusion is the number of pages indexed according to GSC. The number tends to go up and down, and I can't figure out why. Of the roughly 8,000 pages that are submitted through the sitemap, it says only around 1,100 are indexed (sitemap page). The index status page says I've got 7,500 pages indexed. Kind of confused on that one. Anyway, my website is MetroAtlantaHome dot com. Thanks everyone!

Greetings all! Does anyone know if there is a more recent, but comparable, book that covers the topic of analytics like Avinash Kaushik's Web Analytics 2.0: The Art of Online Accountability and Science of Customer Centricity or Brian Clifton's Advanced Web Metrics with Google Analytics, 2nd Edition? These were published in 2009 & 2010. I know the core concepts remain the same, but the technology has improved greatly.

Identifying conversion rate for product
Hi, I need to identify the conversion rate for a product, lets call it a spanner. I have 100s of spanner product urls and I ensured that the url protocols must include the product name e.g /red_spanner so its easy for me to work out the conversion rate in analytics for all my spanner pages as I just add 'spanner' to the landing page filter, hit the ecommerce tab and bingo. What I cant figure out is how to work out the conversion rate for all spanner sales which includes alot of sales which didnt originate on spanner pages e.g. home page > search result > checkout. Theres 1000s of variations of this e.g. email > home > search > product page > checkout. How can I work out the total conversion rate for spanners which needs to include: people landing on a spanner page and people who didnt arrive at a spanner page and did a search with eventually got them to the spanner pages. Hopefully its not as complicated as I think! Thanks in Advance!
