How can I most effectively use Twitter to increase traffic and promote sales for our fine art business?
-
My wife and I are struggling to promote her sales of Fine art wildlife art and nature paintings; both originals and fine art prints. We have had a website for over 10 years; with virtually no traffic, and only an occasional sale (averaging about one per year). How can we most effectively use the Twitter platform to generate leads and sales?

I agree with Joey.
In addition to looking at who your customers are.
I'd also do a little snooping to see what you're competitors are doing and see how you compare.

Hi James.
The short answer is build a following and interact with them. I have many more questions than answers for you, though, starting with why Twitter? Twitter is a thriving, brand aware community of affluent users, but it's a smaller user base (23% of adult Internet users) than say Facebook (71% of adult Internet users), and only about half of those are active. That's still a LOT of people, but is that where your customers are? If so, great! If not, you may want to re-evaluate.
I have a feeling with that number of sales you aren't doing anything else to market the website, so I feel like Twitter isn't the place to start. I would look hard at who your customers are, where they spend their time, and then figure out the best way to reach them. There are many more effective ways to do that than Twitter.

You could actually create one Question for Twitter and Facebook instead of creating two.
Well my advice will be simple.
Read Bufferapp Blog and Social Media Examiner.
Cool to awesome advice in there.

A really well-known person with lots of twitter followers, that include a lot of people who have purchased his/her items in the past, might be able to sell a little bit of art via twitter. If you don't have that follower base already, it will be really hard to build it.
Selling stuff on websites requires an enormous amount of work to position the website in the search engines where people who are interested in your products are going to find it. I have a website that sells craft items and two people work on that website for a few hours each day. That is just to hold our positions, we worked really hard for a couple of years straight to gain the positions.
The place where I would go if I had art to sell would be Etsy. It is an art marketplace and the buyers come to you. Still no guarantee that you are going to sell anything because making a sale depends upon many things beyond getting your items in front of visitors.
Have you tried Etsy? I would go there first.

Why can't anyone check in on my Facebook Page?
Once upon a time, we were able to check in at our office on Facebook. Then, one day, we just...couldn't. I didn't (at least intentionally) change any settings on the page. I can't seem to even find a setting for this. What happened, and how do I fix it? Thank you so much in advance. (Edited to include the Facebook URL) https://www.facebook.com/LegacyTravel

How to best promote this content via social media to gain backlinks
I have created this content http://www.musicliveuk.com/live-music/the-worst-function-bands-and-wedding-bands-ever in order to promote it via social media. Ideally I want it to be shared across the web in order to gain backlinks. My question is how can I best do this? I know I can post it on twitter, facebook, google plus etc... but is that it? I'm new to social media and don't really understand how to use it to good effect. By posting it on social networking sites am I risking people copying the content and duplicate content penalties? Any help would be much appreciated!

URL's for videos to increase page value and social sharing value
Hello Everyone, We recently developed videos for all of our products. Upon clicking on each video, we have the video popping up in a lightbox. The videos are hosted on Amazon s3. We would like to implement social sharing for each video and to do so, we are going to have the video load on each page upon being clicked using jquery. My question is how we should structure the urls so that the actual product page gets the share value. So for example, if the page is www.website.com/product1.aspx should we have the video be www.website.com/product1.aspx#video and ensure there is a canonical url on each product page so that the benefit is given to www.website.com/product1.aspx Or is there another way that anyone would recommend doing this? The videos are AMAZING and I'd like to ensure that as these videos are shared on social networks, that the value of the share is directed to the actual product page. Any ideas mozzers? Thanks!

Automated twitter accounts
I have about 100 city-based automated twitter job accounts which tweet jobs as they are posted. 5 of them are indexed, but the rest do not appear in the twitter index. We diagnosed the issue a year ago because all of the accounts were flagged when we tweeted out the same message across all of the accounts. Then I made a couple of account adjustments (follow, unique description and link), and the 5 started indexing. We unfortunately waited a month and tried again, but the same actions did not lead to indexing. So there we are. Anyone have nay other advice for getting these out of the spam penalty box?
