How do I correct the facts in the information boxes to the right of search results for an individual.

Today it looks as if Google has assembled some information about my client keynote speaker Garrison Wynn and made an info box for him on the right of the results. The information is outdated and incorrect as I see it is for several people I looked up. I have a Google + Profile for him that is linked to his site. But Google seems to be ignoring that information and selecting information from various sources that are outdated. (Garrison has not been an ACTOR for over 13 years and the internet is full of relevant sources that give his title as a keynote speaker. How do I show Google the correct information to use. Do I need to create a BUSINESS Google + for him? The search term I used is Garrison Wynn. They have our buddy and fellow PRO MOZ user, social media expert Brian Carter listed as a football player..LOL.

Thank you for your answer Ryan. I read the article which is very helpful for correcting information that one has access to. However, I can't change the IMBA information and technically that info is correct, it is just not relevant to who Garrison Wynn has been for the past decade. It is as if they showed Ronald Reagan as an Actor from the same source instead of president. ( Maybe that is a bit extreme of an example.) But not to Garrison.
So am I correct in saying that Google has NO particular source they will use first such as a Google BUSINESS (not personal) page? For the Brian Carter example Google did use his Wikapedia entry which makes sense; however, no where on his Wikipedia page does it say he is a football player. I dont believe Brian was ever a football player ( Sorry Brian if I'm missing something huge from your past)
I'd like to see if anyone else has experience with the same issue and how if at all they were able to correct it? Thanks again for your help!

It's partly due to the sources where they're pulling information, so for the Garrison Wyn profile, since he has an IMDB listing, it gets added in. Brian on the other hand seems to be getting his data scraped from Wikipedia.
Dr. Pete recently wrote a great article on the process he took in working with one of these and detailed it all in a blog post here: http://moz.com/blog/how-we-fixed-the-internet . Since he had access to the source material it became a little easier for him to alter, but it still took a while for the changes to take place. Further on he provides other examples.
In short, it's not an easy or rapid process at times, but if you address the source material to get the facts straight it should eventually get picked up. Cheers!

Help! Odd SERP results on two branded terms.
We have had the ODDEST thing happen to our Branded search. Last week we started seeing our Women’s subdomain (women.duluthtrading.com) outranking our main Duluth Trading domain (duluthtrading.com) on searches for “duluth trading co” and “duluth trading company”. If you search for "duluth trading" though, you will get the typically results page: http://screencast.com/t/qGLDWiM0f We have been trying to figure out how or why this has happened. Our website went out for 30 minutes on January 4th. We thought maybe that is what happened but it has now been 7 days. Any help or suggestions would be great!

Using PPC in informational searches
What is your take on using PPC to be the "first" result in an informational search when your goal is truly to deliver information, educate, and affect public opinion? I'm following a large bureaucratic non-governmental organization who has a mission to get accurate information to the public -- they have nothing to literally sell, not even donations -- they're a membership NGO, and this is part of their charity mission. They have sat at about 6th place in the organic rankings for years, while other non-profits and for-profit companies on the other side of the issue (that do have something to literally sell to the traffic they generate off this search) rank in the number 2 and 4 spot. Wikipedia ranks number 1. An About.com site generally ranks #3. On related long tail keywords the bureaucratic NGO often doesn't even rank at all in the organic searches -- it's all the opposing non-profits and for-profits dominating those long tail informational searches. Now I'm seeing the bureaucratic NGO is doing PPC to be the first result on the main search and a bunch of long tails. I am seeing some changes in their website, too, to make it less bureaucratic, more user-friendly, less technical and boring, and more visual and interesting. I'm not privy to what they're doing internally, and I'm not sure if they are doing link-building for climbing in the organic rankings. I'm a newbie to SEO - most of my understanding is based on Moz Beginner's Guide, Moz Link guide, discussions on here, and what I find from googling about SEO concepts. I gather from the google searches that I've done that you don't normally try to use PPC to buy first place in informational searches -- that with informational searches, you should be emphasizing quality link building. I'm also not sure how sustainable it would be to stay at the top position by buying the top position through PPC -- although its conceivable to me that this organization could do that indefinitely, because they're not trying to make a profit off these searches, and they're big and got the bucks. Any insights on PPC in purely informational campaigns?

Where Does Google Pull the Photo From When You Search For Your Brand?
Hi All, In doing a search for our brand from our corporate HQ (Learning Tree), I came across a large embedded "ad" so to speak on the right hand side front and center of one of our locations (see attached photo). Clearly this is from Google's Knowledge Graph. We aren't pleased with the photo of a computer screen pulling randomly from our website...we are OK with the map listing though. Anyway to change this? As a note, when you search for "Learning Tree International" (our more official name as the entity as a whole - we have many locations around the world, and also one near our corporate HQ, which is the one that's displaying when you search "Learning Tree" alone), much better imagery of our logo is displayed. Google is sticking it to E-commerce Companies right?
Hi all, Excuse the rant - but I'd be interested to hear others thoughts on this... I am completely disheartened by the Google Algorithm updates of the last 18 months. They seem to be completely geared up to making life much much harder for E-commerce companies to rank organically, and much easier for informational sites to rank organically, with the only exception being national or global brands that have millions of pounds to invest in off-line marketing like TV advertising. Is it not all a devious strategy by Google to ensure e-commerce companies have to pay for their traffic? It seems like if you genuinely want to compete organically as an e-tailer, without investing millions in off-line advertising, you basically have to become a publishing house as well as shop. My company sells building supplies. There are plenty of magazines and info-sites out there offering tips, advice, interactive tools etc. for how to build your own home, home improvement advice etc. But if I want to start getting 'natural' links, I have to become an online magazine and information resource as well and start competing with these other reputable info-resources - where is the sense in that? If house-builders want advice and information on building regulations, planning permission etc. they'll visit government information sites and other reputable online resources to get that information, if they want to buy materials they'll go to a shop. It just seems like Google is trying to make every site an information resource - how else are you supposed to get natural links without publishing 'sharable' information - no-one shares links to products really, well not building materials anyway - maybe sexy products like ferrari cars and super-duper laptops or sound systems, but no one is going to go "oh that's a really nice piece of timber, I'll share that with all my friends before I buy it". Just feels like it's getting harder and harder and more and more expensive to trade online. What's everyone else think? Luke

On the "new" YouTube" layout how can I select the correct Facebook page to connect to when my Facebook account has multiple business pages attached to it?
On the "new" YouTube" layout how can I select the correct Facebook page to connect to when my Facebook account has multiple business pages attached to it? My Facebook account has three business pages and the "base" user profile. I am trying to connect one of the business pages to a YouTube channel but each time I attempt to do this YouTube selects the "base" user profile and I cannot determine how to switch it to the correct business page. I attempted to connect while signed in "as the page" but it would not allow that. Thanks for any help!

Capturing Brand Search
Hi, How do you capture as much brand results as possible in search results? I know Mike from Koozai recently did a video about brand reputation, but this is slightly different. The current issue i'm having that the client's brand name is also a specific geographic destination, hence the confusion in SERP's. This means non-related industries are eating up the client's potential market share and traffic. My objective would obviously be to capture as much traffic as possible for brand related keywords for the site, so that we can focus more on long tail product terms. Any help would be appreciated.
