Titling and H1 Tag Question
-
What to do if you have hundreds of thousands of a particular product.
Comic Books for example.
Is it ok to have the words Comic Book in the title and H1 tag as long as it is qualified?
For example, if I have the following as both the Title tag and the H1 tag.
Comic Book - Spider Man Versus Wolverine
Comic Book - Silver Surfer Goes Home to Visit Mom.
Comic Book - Superman Gets a New Kitten
Comic Book - Wonder Woman is More Wonderful Than You Know
As of now, I have been doing it this way, but only in the title tag. However, Google has been using my H1 tag as my title, so in the search results, I am only getting:
"Superman Gets a New Kitten"
And I am afraid that that is leaving out important info for searchers, especially qualifying that the product is a Comic Book and if someone is searching for a Comic Book, I need that to return.
But I don't want any 'more' trouble from the Panda. Again, this will be hundreds of thousands of products.
Thanks for your help!

It's a pretty old page, so take it with a grain of salt. Mostly what they're getting at I think is their preference for facts over sales copy when it comes to granular data. Still, things like page counts plus author and illustrator information within the H1 and Titles could help diversify your hundreds of thousands of pages.

Thanks for your answer Dirk!

Hmm. That is interesting Ryan. That's good info on the description. Interesting they say to put the price in there. I have always thought that wouldn't be a good idea since prices can change...
Thanks for your answer.

Thumbs up to Dirk's spot on answer. It's also instructive to look at Google's copy on Meta Descriptions as a general guide on the type of information they're likely to pull, from: https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/35624 they suggest a meta description of:
Obviously this isn't sales or marketing driven copy, but does give you a bit of insight into their point of view. Framed correctly it could help increase conversions though. Cheers!

Hi Craig,
Don't see any issue in using the word "comic book" in your H1. A bit reluctant to give Amazon as an example but they also add the word "Paperback" in the H1 title - they just format the book title & "paperback" differently - but it's still wrapped in the H1. Just make sure that the other content on the page is unique & you should be ok.

Redirect question
Hi Everyone I've tried searching elsewhere in these forums for an answer to this but not having much luck - hope I'm not duplicating content! I get this message in Moz: "We have detected that the domain NappyValleyNet.com redirects to www.nappyvalleynet.com. We do not recommend tracking a redirect URL. Would you like to track www.nappyvalleynet.com for this campaign instead?" Is this a set-up issue on my side? I'm not sure what this means? Thank you!

Is there a way to keep your brand name in the title tag even if your title is cut off?
Hi, I've been thinking of placing our brand name in the front of our title tag for brand recognition purposes. While doing research I came across a few sites that seem to have their brand name on every title tag, regardless of whether of not their title tag was too long and getting cut off by Google. Ex: Personalized Cutting Broads & Humidors...-Etsy The title tag for the example above was for a store in Etsy that sells personalized cutting broads, which was what i searched for. Normally a title tag that is too long gets cut off by Google and your brand name no longer shows if you've positioned it at the end of your title tag. Is there a way to get your brand name to show up at the end of every title tag even if your title is long and gets cut off by Google? Obviously, I could just place the brand name at the front of my title tag, but if I wanted something like my example above is that possible? Thanks You

Regarding Google Title 'Width' and changing Meta Titles w/o Penalty?
A vast majority of pages on my site are now too wide (the character count was fine prior to the March update). I want to go through and update them so they display properly and are not too wide. However, I am concerned, as my understanding was that changing Meta Titles is dangerous and can have a negative effect on your rankings and can cause real issues. Is this an opportunity to change my Titles all-together without any kind of penalty? Or can I only trim the end part? In summary: 1. Can I edit all of my Meta Titles without affecting my rankings? 2. If no, how do I edit them properly to fit within the proper width and not cause any issues? 3. If yes, I can go through and change all my Meta Titles to whatever extent and optimize them to reflect latest best practices? There are changes I wanted to make to all my meta titles but I've been afraid to... due to fear of rankings drops etc Any help with this would be greatly appreciated

Problem with meta title
My web is http://www.canexel.es, is supported by wordpress and I'm having some problems with the meta title. Google SERPS shows “Canexel: Casas de madera canadienses“ when I config the snipped to show “Casas de Madera canadienses – Canexel” I use SEO yoast plugin. I dont know why it is showing the name of the company followed by a colon at the beginning. The home page is the only one that is having that problem. Thx!

Image titles and alt tags for multiple images
I'm hoping some of you may be able to help me understand the best way to optimize my image titles and alt tags for a specific situation. I'm working on an interior design website and they have hundreds of pictures. each of their projects has about 10 pictures. Is it best for me to us the key phrase in each title and tag? or is that to repetitive? here is what I mean: A project called "urban interior design" all images are of urban interior design, just different angles and features, so my initial idea is to just have each image title like this: Title: "urban interior design dinning area" Alt: "urban interior design dinning area view" Title: "urban interior design living room" Alt:"urban interior design living room couch view" Is this the best way or will it actually hurt my ranking with too much exact keyword use? Thanks for your help!

Drupal SEO Question
Still trying to get a handle on all this...a lot to figure out! My site is Drupal and a few weeks ago I had my developer install an SEO Module so I could add a meta description and keywords for my pages. I have done that for the majority of the landing pages and the product pages as well. Earlier I posted a question about the use of adding the meta description and keywords to each product. The answers were mixed and pointed out the problem of the duplicate content which I am trying to figure out how to fix. BUT...when I went through my On Page Analysis grading for my campaigns one of the reasons my grades were low were because of the use of meta keywords tag. That the search engines ignore them and competitors can use them against you. So now I am thoroughly confused. I should optimize each product page with the meta description and keywords or i shouldn't? Keywords should show up in the title tag and the content....anywhere else? Help! Thanks much, Shara

Changing of title page and description
Can I ask how long after changing the Title and Description tags on a website do people have to wait to see these changes reflected in Google? I changed a site of mine a couple of weeks back, pinged the site to google and had well over 5,000 googlebots to the page (not a result of pinging, I get that anyway), yet Google continues to display the old listing. Any secret techniques to speeding this up? Thanks
