Competitor Targeted Keywords

What is the easiest way to about and specifically finding backlink anchor text and links for specific keywords? E.G Our competitor ranks highly for the term "Army Fleece Jacket" whats the easiest way to weed out the links which hold the most weight for this particular term?

LOL. Thanks for the advice, lets see where we stand a few months from now...

To get links I would share this with bloggers/webmasters who have covered cold weather warfare, military uniforms, or military history... for commercial items where you say they are "close to military issue" you might contact the manufacturer or distributor to suggest a link, or a guest blog post. You also might be able to use Google SERP monitoring tool to watch for new content on military forums and Q&A sites for your items. Then join the conversation with some expertise. (I rarely, I never, ever, suggest the use of forums to promote content but in this situation I might give it a try. I hope that none of my friends read this. Geez, they will never let me forget it.)

This makes the most amount of sense. I will try and do this with all of our main products.

It can be very difficult to defeat an opponent by mimicking their methods.
Do something superior and blow them out of the water.
Consider preparing a best-on-the-web content page for this topic. If you sell them you should be able to talk a lot about them to prepare an article that includes: history of the army fleece jacket, proper military wear, environments of use, colors and styles used in the field, time line, materials and their function, features and their use, how the item has morphed into a broad range of commercial products, which commercial products are closest to military issue, tons of photos showing various styles, close-up photos that show features and materials, cleaning.... (I know nothing about this item so if I can think of all of this stuff you, as an expert, should be able to prepare something that is total kickass).
Attack! "Best on the web" if you want to win.

You can use the SEOMoz tool named: Open Site Explorer to check out their links, sniff their anchor text and see an estimate of their authority.

Hi. One of our competitors is ranking ahead of us on Google. Our site has a much stronger authority and much more quality links than this competitor. Would anyone have any explanations for this? Thanks
Hi Guys - I've noticed recently that one of our competitors is ranking extremely well on Google, while we seem to be fluctuating, along with other competitors, for our main keywords. Our site has a much stronger authority and much more quality links than this competitor and traffic is continuously increasing each month. Would anyone have any explanations as to why we may be seeing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Why is this working for a competitor? Non-relevant backlinks helping them out?
A competitor is using a weird strategy, one I know isn't legit, however it's not only helping them, but doing in with a lot of speed. I've ran their info through ahref, majestic, moz, semrush and for backlinks they have 225ish, here is their breakdown. 169 follow links from their parent distributor site ( which is located in their parent's site's footer ) and then 3 to 5 links from sites that relate to SEO, marketing, unrelated things like pocket calling article and comment spam. maybe 5 of those links are from anywhere close to a related site, and those are from spammy directories from out of country. Why would these backlinks be helping them so much, and how can I get in front of them when these craptactics are working for them? They have 250 backlinks - 25 of them are follow We have 300 backlinks - 90 are follow and from relevant sites like EPA.gov, some EDUs and related sites to our niche. Some explanations or words of wit would really be helpful here, as I feel like something isn't adding up.

How can I find page 1 google keyword rankings for a certain page?
Not sure if someone has a tool for this yet or not... Say I have a page like this: http://www.merchantcircle.com/business/Spokane.Painting.Pros.509-210-2799 and I would like to find out what keywords this page ranks for on google. Is there any tool that I can paste in that link and it would give me keywords that it ranks well for? Other than the SEO moz rank checker. It's not like I want to run a campaign just for links like that but I might want to build some links to citations like that so I can move those citations up in the rankings.

Best way to boost ranking for most important keyword?
Hello! I have a blog that is doing really well. Low bounce rate, search queries going up pretty fast, more organic traffic than my first blog. I shot up to spot 5 for my main keyword which was a thrill. But I have dropped back down. According to Google Webmasters I was at spot 11, then 12, and today 13. I worked on doing a lot of internal linking to the page that was ranking at # 5. It is a category page although I'd like my homepage to rank high for that same keyword one day. My site is less than 2 months old and I know it takes time but I am seeing so many signs of great potential. I am looking for ANY advice on how to boost my rankings for this one particular keyword. Thanks! 😃

Is there a ranking delay for highly competive Keywords?
Is there still a delay in ranking highly competitive keywords with commercial intent. If so how does it work exactly and how do you determine which keywords are highly competitive. Thanks

How Are Competitor's With Zero Links (According to SEOmoz) Ranking Highly?
Hey everyone! This is my first post in the community after just signing up for SEOmoz. I've already got a ton of value from this community so I'm looking for to giving back as much as possible. The keyword gets 8000+ monthly searches on Google. Not so many, but the keyword indicates high buying intention. The funny thing is that the top ranking page has 0 backlinks (according to OSE). It seems as though there are some black hat tactics being used, as I doubt that they are ranking solely with on-page optimization. Any idea what's going on? Have you guys/gals seen this before?

Competitor ranking through SPAM
We have a competitor called SwitchWise who has done a whole heap of social bookmarking and article marketing, using a deceptive link with anchor text reading "i select electricity" which has got them ranking #2 in Australia for the term iselect (a big comparison company here in Aus). The articles are low value, the link is deceptive and it is generally bad for the consumer. I could copy their tactics for my client, but I'm concerned about the links eventually being devalued and the company placed in the sin bin. What is the best course of action as I really don't want to let them get away with this, either we need to be up there, or alternative we need to dislodge them. p.s I know this is not a great keyword, but it's more about stakeholder management in terms of what my client sees and how they interpret what we are doing relative to their competitors.

On-Page Report Rel Canonical and keyword density and backlinks...
Hey guys, 1- In the On-Page Report the "Appropriate Use of Rel Canonical" is not checked and it says <dl> <dt>Canonical URL "http://www.mydomain.com/"</dt> <dt>We check to make sure that IF you use canonical URL tags, it points to the right page. If the canonical tag points to a different URL, engines will not count this page as the reference resource and thus, it won't have an opportunity to rank.</dt> <dt>the domain points to the right page... Im not understading why its checked off..??? could it be because the canonical url has the ".com/" instead of just ".com" ???</dt> <dt>2- it also shows that the Total Keyword Usage for this Page = 33 , is this good or bad? too little or too much?</dt> <dt>3- Also when building backlinks should I include the ".com/" or ".com" ??</dt> <dt>Thank you in advance! </dt> </dl>
