If we have two different sub domain pages that talk about the same service but with different content, how will Google react while ranking?
Example : xxxx.abc.com/company/solutions/service1
Suppose if www.abc.com has good authority, which URL will be more benefited?
-
Thanks for your answer. Want to further clarify that if we have cross linking between these two sub domains, will there be any change in the Google's view?
-
If these are pages on different sub-domains with different content, then search engines will treat them like they treat any two different pages, just like they will treat www.example.com/service1. There are numerous subdomains on wordpress and other sites with different content but the same topic. The authority of the root domain helps both sub-domains to a point.
"Which URL will be more benefited?" will depend on all the usual ranking factors for the page and sub-domain. If you are trying to boost one more than the other, more links from the root domain or any other source, as well as better content, will be the way to go.

Don't waste it on a subdomain.. if www.abc.com has good authority then place it on www.abc.com/service1

Removing indexed internal search pages from Google when it's driving lots of traffic?
Hi I'm working on an E-Commerce site and the internal Search results page is our 3rd most popular landing page. I've also seen Google has often used this page as a "Google-selected canonical" on Search Console on a few pages, and it has thousands of these Search pages indexed. Hoping you can help with the below: To remove these results, is it as simple as adding "noindex/follow" to Search pages? Should I do it incrementally? There are parameters (brand, colour, size, etc.) in the indexed results and maybe I should block each one of them over time. Will there be an initial negative impact on results I should warn others about? Thanks!

Benefit of internal link in content
Hi, Is there a real benefit to having internal links in content other than at the bottom of a page for example and not surrounded by content. Would the benefit be 1 to 10 or 1 to 1.5 ? Thank you,

How to stop internal Dynamically created links that generate 404s
Hi I have question weather to block in Robots.txt or through No followed tags. Links that are part of a Dynamic Tab control that generates the tabs based on CMS content. These are internal links on the page which show content within a tab control. Would it stop these errors appearing in the Google report if we added a rel="nofollow" tag to the <a>tag, for example:</a> <a></a> <a></a>VIEW FROM SEATS? Is it better to use No followed tags or block it in Robots.txt? Thanks Cee

Using hreflang for international pages - is this how you do it?
My client is trying to achieve a global presence in select countries, and then track traffic from their international pages in Google Analytics. The content for the international pages is pretty much the same as for USA pages, but the form and a few other details are different due to how product licensing has to be set up. I don’t want to risk losing ranking for existing USA pages due to issues like duplicate content etc. What is the best way to approach this? This is my first foray into this and I’ve been scanning the MOZ topics but a number of the conversations are going over my head,so suggestions will need to be pretty simple 🙂 Is it a case of adding hreflang code to each page and creating different URLs for tracking. For example:

URL for rest of the world: https://company.com/en/products/product-name /1 -
Should I Re-direct Domains to Internal Pages on Money Site
I have an ecommerce site that is fully built out with thousands of products. I own many industry related domains for the products that i sell. Many of these domains are sitting unused. I started to think that it would beneficial if i 301 redirect (at the registrar level) these domains to their SPECIFIC subcategories on my main money site. For example, i sell sporting goods and my main website is buysportinggoods.com I also own the following domains: basketballoutlet.com & baseballequipmentstore.com & footballpads.com Would it be wise or foolish (and potentially cause a Google penalty) if i did the following: Point basketballoutlet.com to buysportinggoods.com/basketballs Point baseballequipmentstore.com to buysportinggoods.com/baseball Point footballpads.com to buysportinggoods.com/football Please let me know your thoughts or experiences with similar situations. Thanks!

Use of the Canonical Tag, Both Internally and Cross Domain
I've seen the cross domain canonical not work at all in my test cases. And an interesting point was brought to my attention today. That point was that in order for the canonical tag to work, the page that you are referencing needs to have the exact same content. And that this was the whole point of the canonical tag, not for it to be used as a 301 but for it to consolidate pages with the same content. I want to know if this is true. Does the page you reference with a canonical tag have to have the same exact content? And what have been your experiences with using the canonical tag referencing another page on a different domain that has the same exact subject matter but not the exact duplicate content?
