Queries vs. Organic Keywords in GA
-
Could someone explain how the following metrics in Google Analytics are being calculated:
-
Search Engine Optimization (Acquisition): clicks on a certain query
-
Campaigns (Acquisition): sessions on a certain keyword
GA Help states that both 'queries' and 'organic keywords' refer to the actual string a user enters in Google Search. In that cases it seems that 'clicks' on a SERP result through a given query and 'sessions' through that very same query could not be miles apart.
E.g.:
-
Clicks through query X = 170
-
Sessions through organic keyword X = 8
Thank you for helping me out!

Hi there
According to Access Search Console data in Google Analytics:
-
Some tools define "keywords" differently. For example:
-
The Keywords page in Search Console displays the most significant words Google found on your site.
-
The Keywords tool in Google Adwords displays the total number of user queries for that keyword across the web.
-
Analytics uses the term "keywords" to describe both search engine queries and AdWords paid keywords.
-
The Search Console Search Queries page lists shows the total number of keyword search queries in which your page's listing was seen in search results, and this is a smaller number.
There's a section called **Why doesn't Search Console data match Google Analytics data? **- read through it and see if you have anymore questions!
Keep in mind, Google Search Console only passes along data to Analytics in rounded increments of 5, 10, 100, 1000.
For instance, one of my clients has a branded term in Search Console for March 2015. I checked the same one in GA:
Search Console - 15,167 impressions
GA - 15,000 impressionsFor another term:
Search Console - 1 impression
GA - 5 impressionsIf it's not zero, but less than 5, it's 5.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

Comparing user behaviour in GA
Hi Does anyone know, can advise a process, for how to compare user behaviour (time on page, bounce rate etc) for a major site section/category page that's changed its url since a new site upgrade (so effectively 2 different pages i presume) with the old page version (say comparing U.B between the two pages and between June this year vrs June last year) in Analytics / Cheers Dan

Linked my adwords account to GA and vice versa and still paid search is getting recorded into organic traffic??
Hi Mozzers, I have linked properly my adwords account to GA and vice versa and somehow I can see 3/4 of this paid traffic recorded to organic search. The most confusing part is that I can see 1/4 of the paid traffic under the "paid" metric. At this point I don't know really what should I do? Thank you guys in advance!

GA Goal Tracking for Proactive Chat
Hi all, Just wondering whether anyone knows how I'd be able to track Proactive Chats as a goal in Google Analytics? So when someone visits our site, and we proactively contact them by initiating a chat (rather than a reactive chat where the visitor initiates it). Thanks!

GA profile when migration domains
I'm migrating a .co.uk domain to .com and am trying to decide if I should reuse the same Google Profile (if I can?) or create a new one. If I choose to reuse the same profile so it has historical data, does anyone know if it's just a matter of keeping the same UA profile identifier in place on the page? Or do I have to change anything on the actual profile in GA as well to say "start pulling data from .com now"?

'Search Queries Report' in Webmaster Tools Question
Hi, How much do you use the search queries report in webmaster tools to research current rankings/movements? It does look like a great tool but the data doesn't seem to be spot on. For example a keyword over a week might have flux in position so lets say 6.0 then 9.2 for 3 days then back to 6.0. But I check the serp's for this keyword everyday and didn't see any movement?!?! Is this a good tool for you?

Get search query information for wildcard subdomains
For various reasons, I have a couple of domains with a couple of hundred subdomains on each. I would love to track how many search impressions they get each day as an overall site in webmaster tools. I have this information for my normal domains and it's a great way to track progress up the rankings (in addition to hits). Anyone know if it's possible to add wildcard subdomains to webmaster tools or any work around? I have tried *.domain.com but it's not accepting it. Thanks

Organic bounce rate after site re-launch
3 months ago a client of mine re-launched theoir web site (after having a lot of work done on it). Since then, many of the SEO indications are good - more non-paid keywords sending search visits, more organic visits overall, more URLs receiving entrances via search, etc. The issue is that their bounce rate has been increasing pretty much EVERY week since. Has anyone seen a similar issue and what could a potential solution be for this? Thanks everyone!
