2 Domains
-
Hi, one of my clients owns a dental practice. The business is split into 2 parts. One is general dentistry and the other in cosmetic dentistry. They are both aimed at different markets. The question is, should we have 1 website with all the details for the business under, or could we have two domains and promote both sites differently. Does anyone see any issues with the address being the same etc?
Thanks
Ade

Hey Adrian!
Definitely keep this all under one roof, as others have said. Focus on building out super content about the different services and you should benefit the overall brand from all this work instead of divvying it up between multiple sites. *Do remember, one location only entitles you to one Google+ Local page, regardless of the number of services offered, unless you have a multi-dentist practice, in which case you can build a Google+ Local page for each practitioner. That scenario can enable you to do interesting things with the categories - optimizing one listing for a certain type of service and another listing for another service, provided you're adhering to the guidelines. Only proviso here is to be aware of historic problems with dealing with doctor/dentist duplicates in Google's system.

Thanks, thought this would be the case.

Hi there
I definitely agree with Andy here - it's the same practice, just different services. That's really no different than a car mechanic doing engine work and brake pads. If I were you, I would have the client embrace it and create categories on one domain. If you optimize and structure the site properly, you'll be golden.
That's my two cents.
Hope this helps - good luck!

Hi Ade,
This isn't something I would advise splitting across domains. Choose the domain you wish to use and then sub-cats for the different types of dentistry. If you have two similar sites at the same address, it will make Google wonder why it was done (SEO purposes) and you could have issues on your hand.

Does Google prioritise local domains?
I'm in Australia targeting Australian traffic. I often see US domains in the Google SERPS and wonder if that indicates an opportunity for local (Australian) domains to rank?

Google map listing #2
My website ranks well locally and nationally, but shortly I will be adding a second site to my business. We will be ranking it for different key words but the same location. My question is, is it possible to verify another google + & google maps listing for this site? And, what does google think about having two sites for the same business? Huge thanks in advance for any answers 🙂

Local citations - domain or business name
I have a bit of a tricky situation with a client where there is some history with old domains. But this is the current situation which I need to stick to: Business name (all made up) is Acme Print 2 live websites - acme-niche(dot)com and productsandservices(dot)com Third website acmeprint(dot)com is live and owned by an old partner, different NAP. acme-niche(dot)com and productsandservices(dot)com share the same NAP. Not much traffic and a bit of a poor domain profile for acme-niche(dot)com, so suggest just using productsandservices(dot)com. Also acme-niche(dot)com would be a bit misleading for use for the whole business in any case. However, all content for productsandservices(dot)com refers to Acme Print. Because of all the confusion should we keep the productsandservices(dot)com referring to Acme Print throughout, or update with new productsandservices(dot)com logo, mention that it is a trading name of Acme Print and refer to the trading domain name throughout the content. I want to know the best option for listings and citations - the trading name which is a domain name or Acme Print? I've not worked with a local site where domain name and business name and a separate business with domain are mixed up.

Domain Purchases!
I am a website developer and designer and I know all about the basics with regards to seo, webmaster tools, content and meta tags! I am currently re-building my main site from the ground up and is nearly finished! Within my site I have a section with 5 pages that's designed for potential clients who are thinking about hiring a developer like me to build them a website. This section I have named _'So you want a website!'._It's designed to make people think about what, why and what they want their website to achieve as well as how much it costs to have it built. My question is this.... I have just purchased the domain soyouwanta.website with the intention for it to basically redirect to the named section above! I hear it's good to have similar named domains to redirect to main sites and is good for seo! How do the search engines treat new domains to redirect to main domains and how do I add this to webmaster tools? Looking forward to your answers. Phillip Dews

Can we place a FB business page link instead of direct domain link in a Google My Business listing?
A client of ours asked if we could place link to their local Facebook page instead of a link to the direct domain in their Google My Business listing. Will Google allow this?

New website no ranking, due to 2 duplicate websites . Please help.
Hello Everyone, We have a client that has 2 of the same websites, that have the same content, different phone numbers and different content for the Homepages however, there are a few differences that has been done to both with different functionality. For the last 3 weeks, we have been trying to rank "1. www.websitetoronto.com" as this is the branding of the company, and is for 18+ content. We also have "2. www.websitetor.com" that is PG13 content which is for google places for business aka google+ for business (which is still in pending mode, and is the older site about 7 years old, and was ranked before. The reason for both the sites is that Google Places for Business Listing does not allow any adult content, and our main branding "**1. www.websitetoronto.com" is for 18+ content. Here are the specs for both the sites. ** 1. www.websitetoronto.com New Registered site to be ranked organically (however this is no where in the SERPS) as its serving the older site previously No Google Places for business listings.
