Blog Site Set-Up/Frequency
-
Hello! I am a new blogger that is just getting started. All I have done so far is purchase a domain name and signed up with Blue Host. From what I am reading, WordPress seems to be the most recommended plug-in to get going. There is a lot of material out there on SEO and I wanted the community's thoughts on where to start. My blog is intended to provide readers with information on a particular topic. It is a vast area with much to write about - I intend on populating the content myself/with the help of experts in the field. It is not news so it is not time sensitive. Here are my questions:
1. As this is a brand new site, should I be blogging every day or is couple of times a week sufficient? I am able to produce content fairly quickly in the beginning as there is a lot to write about. Should I write a whole lot of content first and then release it on a schedule (twice a week, daily, etc.)? As it is a new site, I don't want it to launch with just one article..
2. I am taking a WordPress class next week, but as someone that is not too familiar with copy/backlinks, other mechanisms to boost SEO. does WordPress make it easy enough to optimize your site for search results or does it require more expertise?
As far as I see, my first tasks are to 1. ) set up the site effectively so people can find it and 2.) create valuable/engaging content. Appreciate any advice on setting up the site, blogging frequency, other tips to get going. I don't want to launch a site and get dinged by Google for reasons I am unware of..At some point, when I have a robust set of content, I am thinking of FB advertising to increase traffic to the site. Seems a bit premature to do that at this point..
Thanks all in advance for your feedback!

Thank you all for the tips/answers to my questions, it was very helpful! I have spent a lot of time since my initial query reading up on/playing with Wordpress/SEO and am still confused on a few topics, any help would be greatly appreciated!
1.) For my purposes, it seemed a premium theme was the way to go. I purchased News Pro from StudioPress. When I look at my themes in my dashboard, I see both NewsPro and Genesis Framework. I think I accidentally purchased a bundle with both themes, thinking the "Genesis Framework" was the framework files to power NewsPro, but I think it's another theme name that they sell. Is that correct? Both themes are powered by this so called Genesis Framework?
2.) I've been reading conflicting information on SEO plugins: supposedly, while these Genesis themes are SEO friendly, plugins like SEO by Yoast are better/more flexible to help you boost your SEO. Is that a fair statement? I understand taht a large part of SEO is the content itself, but outside of the content, I am not a developer and don't know html/css, so was looking for something that will help optimize the areas I am not as familiar with. Can I combine a plugin like Yoast with a Genesis theme such as NewsPro or should one not have both running together?
3.) I haven't published any content yet, want to make sure I don't make any SEO mistakes that will get me dinged right away. What are some of the things I should make sure to do at my end before I launch the site? For my very first article, likely not to rank well - what are some of the things I could do to get a new site to rise up in Google rankings?
Thank ou all in advance for your support and help!

Hi there
For your post frequency, I would check out this answer thread on a similar question from a few days ago. Myself and EGOL shared some extremely helpful tips on how often you should post and how to prioritize it.
Hope this helps! Good luck!

First of all welcome to blogging world
There are multiple blogging platforms available and most of the bloggers prefers Wordpress because of plugins, seamless integration and easy to use functionality.

Yes, I'd suggest you the same to post content on frequent basis at the start to get the flow of traffic and early traction. Then schedule a proper editorial calender and follow it. You may even add the "Guest Post Day" every week apart from your post in the calendar to attract new bloggers.

Wordpress doesn't help you in this way.. Yes, they do have lots of SEO friendly plugins like Yoast but again SEO is something that you need to do yourself. Though, Wordpress can tackle your technical SEO part nicely and if you're going to learn Wordpress, you will easily play around with its features.

Meta tags not being displayed for Mobile version of a blog even after the blog is indexed
I have updated the meta title and meta description for my blog. After updating the meta tags, blog URL was submitted in the webmasters and it has been crawled and indexed by Google but only for the desktop version and not for mobile version. Currently, meta tags are not being displayed for mobile version in Google. I have also checked with robots.txt file, there is no problem with this file. PFA screenshots for reference. Kindly help me out with this issue. eWu1k8N PdimKGq

Site folder hierarchy 2016 ?
Hi, Would you say that based only on the "folder structure" that "somedomain.com/focus-keyword" has better conditions to rank well than "otherdomain.com/general-keyword/focus-keyword" ? Using Yoast SEO for WordPress when creating automatic XML sitemaps, URLS with subfolders seems to be getting lower priority. Thanks!

Duplicate content on partner site
I have a trade partner who will be using some of our content on their site. What's the best way to prevent any duplicate content issues? Their plan is to attribute the content to us using rel=author tagging. Would this be sufficient or should I request that they do something else too? Thanks

When to post blogs?
If I was to put 2 blog posts on my site a month, does it matter if I post them on the site at the same time, or is their benefits in posting them a week apart? Thanks!

On page/site - Images & bold text
As I understand it on a page where you are going for the keywords 'Metal gates', you have an image titled 'Metal gates' (Lets say MG for Metal gates to save on my typing!) with the alt tag being 'MG' Now as I also understand it, if an image is also used as a link the Alt tag is also the anchor text? So, I have a page on Metal gates using the above methods, from this page I have image links to a metal driveway gates page (as well as text links), would I be best using an image titled 'Metal driveway gates' with the alt text as ' Metal driveway gates' to link to my metal driveway gates page (if you follow me)? Also on the image question, what if you have say six images (that are all links) on the metal gates page, how would you title the images and alt tags? Variations on Metal gates? Or using the keyword on the page that the link points to? (I'm not looking to keyword stuff but want to get it right! ) Also is it important to have your on page keywords in bold still? i ask because I've bolded text on my pages but not the main keywords - I've bolded text that I want people to see, but do not want to take away any power from my keywords if you follow me?

How do I do a 301 Redirect in IIS 7 from http://www.freightmonster.com/index.html to http://freightmonster.com/index.html when I don't have a physical page to redirect?
I'm trying to get rid of my Rel Canonical links and use the 301 Redirect instead.

Monitor site loading speeds
We all know that site loading speed is important for google ( and getting more important), and currently we are considering moving to a dedicated server. But I would like to measure pur current loading times and compare them to our competitors. I know that webmaster tools shows you your loading times, but its seems a bit random with its results, and I know analytics also now records speed, but the sample sizes seems to be too low. When I googled website load times, I got a load of different free tools but they seem to give conflicting results e.g one said that our avg kb load time was 0.02sec and our competitor was 0.01, but a different site says our sites loads in 1.7 secs and our competitor loads in 11sec (our home pages have similar total file size for our homepage. ) Also what would be useful would be a way to monitor of website loading speed to see when it slows down, so we can figure out why. Does anyone know of any good reliable programs or sites that does this?

On-page optimisation for CMS based sites
With so many sites being based on a CMS, and with so many hundreds of different CMS out there, as SEO consultants how do you recommend dealing with on-page optimisation for a client where you discover their site is built with a CMS you have not previously used (or even heard of!)
