International Traffic on Analytics - Is this normal?

Hi All,
One of our clients has asked why they are getting so much traffic from international countries when they solely operate in the UK.
See attached image for % of customers who are visiting our site from different countries.
Is this a normal ratio of traffic when we are only targeting UK customers?

Not that I know of!
I think our customer is just a bit cautious that they aren't getting relevant traffic to their site.
I can't see why Google would think our website is relevant to anyone outside of the UK but I am finding it hard to see what search terms international visitors would be using. Any tips on this?

Thanks, at first I thought it was spam but looking at the source that the international traffic is coming from most of it is coming from Google which makes me think there isn't much we can do about it.
The site isn't optimised for local listings as such as it is a service available across the whole of the UK but I don't see why we would be appearing in any search results from other countries.
I have heard that some people may use IP address reverting so that it looks like their IP address may be coming from somewhere else in the world. Is it that popular that a fair amount of people are using it to visit our site?

IP Address is UK based.
Company is a Service provider rather than an e-commerce
I'll check into the audit and try to narrow it down via traffic sources etc.Regards

Hmm, that does seem a bit odd. I am surprised that your % of traffic from the UK is not higher.
Few Q's-
- is your IP address located in the UK?
- also, you might want to run an audit to find out where this traffic is actually coming from (legit traffic or spam).
- is your site a service or e-commerce?

Strange Traffic Movements
Hi there, I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on this... I'm working with a client whose website is experiencing some odd organic traffic patterns. See screenshot attached. As you can see, there was a sudden cliff fall about a month ago, and then it recovered (almost) entirely. Then, a month to the day later, the same thing happened again. What is the best way to learn google analytics?
Hi I'm trying to get my head around google analytics as a first time user. Can any suggest the best place to start after I have taken a look through the whole thing, how do I go about managing and tracking performances on my website? eg: Registrations/sign ups, conversions all that sort of thing Some advice will be much appreciated Thanks

Surge in Yahoo! organic traffic?
Recently a domain I manage shot up in rankings for many industry related keywords in Yahoo! It only lasted for two days, but durring that time we saw about 300% increase in organic traffic. Durring that time we were spending a lot of money in paid ads. Can anyone explain the sudden surge in Yahoo! organic traffic and rankings? Could there have been traffic from our paid ads that tracked to organic search? We use Google analytics and an in-house tracking system that both showed the same trends.

HELP! 75% Drop in Traffic with no Explaination
Hello Everyone, After looking at one of my websites, http://pokeronamac.com/ I noticed that there is a significant drop in all traffic to my site. I cannot figure out what the exact source is, as we received no warnings in WMT, and as far as I know there are no major updates released in the last week or so by Google. I took a look at the content section of GA and I saw that virtually all of my content was seeing a decrease in traffic, meaning that it isn't specific to a few pages, which leads me to believe that it is an algorithmic penalty. My confusion was that there was no changes made to the website in the past few months, although, on September 10th (5 days after traffic dropped) I updated the meta descriptions and titles site wide. I don't believe that the penalty is from Panda or Penguin because we actually experienced a positive influx in traffic during the week of April 25th. I'd appreciate any insights into helping me recover from this so I can get the visits again that I had before. If any other metrics are required, i'd gladly provide them. What is Responsible for All My "Direct" Traffic?
We have a broad content site - the majority of our traffic overall comes in via deep links.Google analytics consistently shows 17-20% of daily traffic under the "direct" bucket, with the rest of the traffic about equally split between Referring sites and Organic search.However, if we look at the specific content in the "direct" bucket, the URLs that are being hit do tend to mirror rather closely the Search traffic. The close mapping to our Search traffic doesn't seem to make much sense - while some of it is probably bookmarks, it seems doubtful that that could be responsible for more than, say, 20% of this direct traffici based on the # of pages and types of pages (many of the pages that do well in search are honestly not ones that someone would be likely to bookmark). The traffic reported by google as "direct" for a given day tracks a lot closer to Search than Referral URLs (which tend to be he more viral content on our site). Any idea what could be causing this traffic to show as Direct? Do people tend to bookmark pages while doing searches to come back to them or something? THANKS everyone for the responses.
