Just looking to get an honest opinion on my website design for my scuba diving client. Trying to decrease bounce rate and have seen some results from tweaking design. Honest opinions appreciated. Recommendations appreciated even more

Overall impression is very good.
Biggest thing I see missing is an ABOUT page. This is SO important. I use crazy egg to show all my clients how important their ABOUT page is. For most of my clients its the MOST popular page on their entire website. People want to see a story and the real people behind the business who care about what they do and the people they serve.
You have courses and contact us above the fold but maybe something a little softer like you see on this site - http://www.rovepestcontrol.com/ encourage them to ask a question would likely help w bounce rate.
The phone and email in the footer aren't clickable.
The headers in the footer. You can barely see them.
Need more relevant and helpful content
Videos are great. I would get those on the homepage for sure. Increases time on site and will help with bounces for sure.
I would add a REASON to join the mailing list.

This site needs more content to reduce bounce rate and there are tons of opportunities for content.
The blog is hard to find and the content there is very skimpy. I'd go with several hundred words minimum with plenty of photos of gear, people, and underwater discoveries.
The trips page should have outlinks to photo-rich blog posts and photo galleries of previous trips, photos of clients (with permission) so they can link to the trip page from facebook and say... "I did that". Photos of clients (with permission) are kickass. Videos showing clients are rocket fuel. Videos featuring the client experience (with proper branding) will be shown, shared, and viewed by many - provided that video conditions are good.
Videos are also good for promotion. Do cave diving? Send the video to the local news paper websites of featured clients. Send it to CavingNews.com. Got videos with coral? Share to climate change blogs. Videos with wrecks? Send to marine archaeology blogs. Underwater videos are very popular and novel when they are in newspapers and websites that don't usually cover underwater topics.
After you got a great library of video posts, and beefier blog posts, then feature the most popular and the newest on the side bar of every page. Spread the links to these all over the site. Use fantastic images to elicit clicks.
I used to dive a lot but that was nearly 50 years ago when scuba was still new and novel. People are curious about "what is down there?" So, videos showing what's underwater could be popular on lots of local websites. Old foundations, wrecked cars, quarry equipment, parts of historic bridges. There is history on the bottom of reservoirs, flooded quarries, and rivers where lock-and-dam construction has flooded original culture. Newspaper sites and history sites will feature these videos or link to them on your website.

Do I need to 301 redirect www.domain.com/index.html to www.domain.com/ ?
So, interestingly enough, the Moz crawler picked up my index.html file (homepage) and reported duplicate content, of course. But, Google hasn't seemed to index the www.domain.com/index.html version of my homepage, just the www.domain.com version. However, it looks like I do have links going specifically to www.domain.com/index.html and I want to make sure those are getting counted towards my overall domain strength. Is it necessary to 301 redirect in the scenario described above?

How to bounce back after a new url & new site design?
About a month ago, my company changed domains (from the long-established www.imageworksstudio.com to the new www.imageworkscreative.com) and also did a complete overhaul of our site. We tried to do everything necessary to keep Google happy as we went through this change, but we've suffered a drastic loss of both rankings and traffic. I know that can happen as a result of a redesign AND as a result of a new domain, but I'm wondering how long you would expect it to take before we bounced back and also, what can we do in the meantime to improve?

I need help with international SEO for two sites?
I'll try to keep this clear... I am working with an company based in Germany, they own company.com/de and company.com/en, and that's how they are currently structuring their domains. They also own companyusa.com that they really want to show up in USA only. They want to keep company.com/en for England/english speaking Europe and company.com/de for their German audience in Germany. They are wanting us to optimize/SEO for companyusa.com, and they want that URL to show up as the top google search in the USA for their "company" keyword. What is showing up now is www.company.com/en 1st in Google because it's been around longer and it has more domain authority. What is the best practice for us optimize companyusa.com so that it is the top dog in the USA while not messing up the other domains? Should we merge? Subfolders all around? Thanks for all the input.

Panda and Penquin Fall - Could HTML Design an Issue?
Hi, We were hit hard by Panda 3.4 on March 23rd 2012. Then Penguin came along and slapped us down a little farther on April 24th. White hat SEO for 13 years on the site. I have been trying to discover the reason we got hit so hard, to date 90% down. We ae wiped. I have a couple of keywords still #2 and #3 and we see up and down changes in Google webmaster tools, i.e. a keyword is supposedly up 50 points then another down 50. All other 150 keywords that we used to rank on the first page for are not even showing up. I have a person that is about to do a full link analysis but since we never went after links I just never had the feeling that is where our problem is at, but definitely going to explore it. The reason for my post is that last night I spoke with an SEO person that has some pretty good credentials (9 years experience and works currently at large online marketing company with seo with clients like Honda) and he was nice enough to just take a quick look at the site. He said he saw nothing really wrong and did not think that we were hit for any of the normal issues people are listing, i.e. duplicate content, backlinks. His first impression was that we were knocked down because the site is "hard to index". He said the site still uses tables and a lot of our Doc Statements were for HTML 4.01 from 1999. As we all know, there are 'many' experts in this industry. So I wanted a little feedback from the community. Our main site was built in Dreamweaver using tables. We do have a Wordpress blog that is very small and just now posting to add fresh content. (posts seem to rank pretty good, this is why I thought, you know he may be right) Would an older site be penalized like this for using tables? What would you do at this stage if you had a site that is not recovering? I have now reached panic mode and have to do something, just not sure of the next step.
