"Fake" backlinks indentified on Webmaster tools. How to remove them?

Hi…We noticed a huge number of “fake” links to our site a couple of months ago through Webmaster Tools. After identifying that, we tried to disavow the links, but it hasn’t worked. It looks like a registered domain that has duplicated our entire site. All links are coming from worldstudy.concretecorp.com.br and when you go to it, it redirects to our site. These crazy links keep increasing (over 637,000 now!). What would be our options to get rid of them? Thanks

Hey John,
It's a negative SEO attack and as you mentioned it's already been couple of months past, you need to actively work on it to prevent further damage. I'd like to know, have you suffered from a traffic and ranking drop in this tenure? If yes, the at what rate?

You are actually in luck. It looks like the site is hosted at AWS. You can send a DMCA notice to AWS and let them know someone has copied your whole site and is hosting it with them. They should take it down immediately. The link you need is here, https://aws.amazon.com/forms/report-abuse

Backlinks and Domain Authority
Hi there, I have a question on backlinks. I have seen conflicting stories about it, and hoping someone with a vast amount of experience will be able to help me (If you could please be so kind). Now I understand the difference between 'no-follow' links and 'follow' links. I have accumulated quite a few 'no-follow' links through things like Facebook, Youtube, Twitter etc. I understand that they won't feed my site authority or trust; or anything of that sort (I do work on content too, and have gotten a few follow links, don't worry). Now I have seen conflicting answers to the actual importance of them. Some things I have read are saying that SEs completely ignore them (NFL), and they don't even consider them a 'link', but rather a user tool to further the experience of the reader on your site. Which is fair enough, but then people are turning around and also saying that Google relies heavily on them, and they only make up 5% of the internet or something. I have even read something saying they are the only ones worth getting (I know that is bs, but they must have a reason behind this thought?). If someone could enlighten me as to a 'ideal' ratio, and also any little known authoritative sites I could look at submitting content to. I am in the plumbing business, and doing my own sites, so I'm no expert. Also, what are the importance of comment links? I don't go for them, but don't know if I should? Is anybody else noticing a dramatic change to their 'links to your site' section in Google Webmaster Tools?

Over the last six months or so we've been going through our backlink profile and cleaning up links from poor quality sources. Week by week there have been small changes in our Google Webmaster Tools 'links to your site' section to reflect this. I logged on this morning however and there has been a dramatic shift in the information displayed. Pretty much every bad link has been removed from the list including sites I know for a fact are still linking to us as they didn't communicate at all to our removal requests. Additionally, rather than showing the top 1000 links to our site as it used to, WMT is only showing 73 linking domains. The remaining 73 domains are good natural links from high quality sources. I'm guessing Google are just in the middle of an update and that the remaining linking domains (including the bad ones) will reappear shortly. This isn’t a request for advice or help but I’m just curious as to whether anybody else is seeing anything similar?0 -
Why aren't my backlinks showing up?
I've recently switched hosting my site on www.vamospaella.com to www.vamospaella.co.uk (using a 301 redirect) and I've been building backlinks. According to Majesticseo, vamospaella.co.uk has 38 backlinks with 8 referrring domains and vamospaella.com has 15 external backlinks from 11 referring domains. Some of these backlinks date back a month, while others have shown up in the last week. However, I have seen no improvement in my Google rankings for my keywords. Why is this?

Paid Links - remove, report or leave? And how to remove?
Bit of an unusual one for me - appreciate your thoughts... I did an SEO audit for a potential client last week and discovered that 3 of their top 10 strongest inbound links (reported from OSE) are blatantly paid links from those "Link Bid Directories". The links were created mid-last year, so reasonably recent. Strange thing is that they have been using a highly reputable SEO agency for several years who do NOT engage in link buying - so I'm pretty sure it is not their SEO agency buying these links. Also - the link anchor texts are the company name - not a target keyword - so I suspect they either: a) have someone internally in the company who thinks they are "helping" by buying links - or, b) in my most paranoid fantasies, a competitor is setting them up for a Google smack (very long bow, I know!) Anyway my questions are: If I decide to take on this client, should I DO anything about these links? These link are almost certainly currently "working" to pass link juice and I don't believe the site has been penalised (yet!) for them. I suspect when these links are switched off, the site will drop in rankings so my thoughts are to just ignore them and proceed with a normal link building campaign in the hope that if (when) the links are killed we will be OK. Is there a "safe" way to report them to Google? By which I mean, let Google know to ignore these links and NOT penalise US for them being there. Is there a way to get the links removed given that we don't control the accounts that created them? Oh - and feel free to comment on my paranoid fantasies 🙂 Have you ever seen paid links appear that you KNOW didn't come from you? Thanks! Steve
