Google Tag Manager Tracking
-
We have Google Tag Manager set up to track our website https://kontenta.co.uk/
Although we have a blog - https://kontenta.co.uk/designroom/
I'm just wondering if it's better to track the sites separately? If so, how do I add the blog to tag manager?
Does it need setting up as a filter to match the regular expression https://kontenta.co.uk/designroom/*
We just need to figure out the best way to measure both the website and blog traffic and if users are coming from the blog to the site, and what interactions they are making.
Thanks

Thanks Marcus, that's a great help. We use Magento for our main site but Wordpress for the blog, so we will just ensure the same tracking code is implemented and use the custom filters as you said.
Much appreciated

Hey Joshau
You will want Tag Manager and any relevant tags on all pages on the site. So, if you use separate blog software you will want to ensure tag manager is installed there but use the same tracking code.
You then have various options to filter the data but I would likely set up various views on the Analytics data to achieve a more granular view of what is happening.
- General view (default) of all site traffic
- View of just the blog traffic
- View of the site traffic exluding the view traffic
The view filters allow you to achieve all of this in a pretty straightforward manner:

As an additional tip you can use a custom filter in Screaming Frog to determine your tags are installed as they should be and we are big fans of the Google Tag Assistant Chrome Plugin: https://support.google.com/tagassistant/answer/2947093?hl=en
So, for your site tag assistant shows the tag assitant tag, the remarketing tag and the analytics tag (it even details that these are implemented within tag assistant).
Hope that helps!

If GTM is on all pages for the kontenta.co.uk domain, they will both be tracked. Both pages are on your domain so you will need to track them under the one account.
You can just filter the pageviews in Analytics for data inside /designroom/* and the index

Track buttons in Google Tag Manager
Hi! First question: I am wondering if it's possible to track two buttons with the same code in Google Tag Manager without changing the code? There are different page URL's.. Second one: My tags are displayed in Google Analytics as 'events'. When I put the events in 'goals', the number of times it fired differs from my events. Someone who can help me with this issue?

Conversion Tracking Setup; Is there a decent guide?
Ok, I'm looking into how to set up conversion tracking for our website, and frankly, I'm totally confused. In looking at Google documentation, I'm not sure if I need to use Tag manager, throw some code into the site with jQuery, or sacrifice a goat. I'd like to implement a variety of tracking goals / events / things on several websites, so I'm really looking for a comprehensive guide. I couldn't find any in depth stuff on google. Help?

Regular Expressions in Google Analytics
I want to use the Google Analytics landing page reports to look at the bounce rate of top level pages excluding the homepage. So pages with urls: www.example.com/example Does anyone know a regular expression that will allow me to do this? Just to clarify I do not want to look at the bounce rate of the homepage or any pages deeper than www.example.com/example e.g: www.example.com/example/example www.example.com/example/example/example etc Thanks in advance
