How does Google Home Services Ads work?
-
Hi mozzers,
I have a plumber client who would like to try the Google Home Services ads but I have not found a guideline on this just yet. Do you know how to set it up? Do I need to use adwords or is it under another google product?
The more details you guys have the better!
Thanks

Here is the information you need on qualification
https://support.google.com/ads/answer/6230381
Google will be performing a background and license check in addition to performing a "reputation assessment" of the business online. I would assume that if this business has good reviews on Yelp or Google that this would help.
A good overview of the program is here

The service just launched the end of August so it is pretty new
keep that in mind when taking your client through the process.

Hello,
In terms of setting up a Google Home Services profile, there is a screening process that Google has been very upfront about. You can find the requirements here:
https://support.google.com/ads/answer/6230381
It doesn't seem to require Adwords involvement, but does seem to be a fairly hefty administrative process.
In brief, the requirements are as follows:
Background Check
"All businesses shown in home service ads must require each of their in-home workers to undergo background checks byPinkerton Consulting and Investigations, Inc., a third-party risk management and security company."
License Check
"Pinkerton verifies the trade licenses identified by home service professionals during the background check process."
Insurance Check
All businesses being assessed for this service will need valid insurance.
Reputation Assessment
"We collect ratings and reviews from people who hired home service professionals through our home service ads, and use mystery shoppers—customers who communicate and hire professionals on our behalf without mentioning any affiliation with Google—to help us learn more about the customer experience. As described in our Policy Center, serious or repeatedly negative customer feedback may result in lower ad rankings (including your ad not showing at all)."
This seems to be the most nebulous of the requirements but it sounds like they are using online reviews from multiple vendors to establish a profile for businesses before establishing the 3 most trustworthy options.
Long story short, make sure your client is a legitimate plumber with all necessary licenses, insurance and background checks through Google's 3rd party partner and get them working on their online review process - preferably with Google-related review services (G+, Google My Business, etc.)
That seems to be all there is to it.
Best of luck!
Rob

I've 'lost' my Google Referral Traffic
We recently re-launched our website on a new platform, PrestaShop. Up until that launch, our website, based on the DNN platform, received several thousand clicks per month from what Google Analytics classified as 'Google/referral', and several thousand more clicks collectively from international Google/referrals, i.e. Canada, Germany, UK and France. When the re-launched site went live, these clicks all went to zero on Google Analytics. My question is: Did we actually lose this Referral traffic through an improper setting on our new platform, or is this Referral simply being re-categorized in some other Source category like Organic Search?

How to Tell Google About My Near Duplicate Pages?
For my Adwords campaign, I create a separate landing page for each Ad Group, but are similar enough to one another that they may be considered duplicate content. Should I use a canonical tag on the page to tell Google which page is priority? I don't care about any of those pages ranking in search, I'm just using them for my ads. I also don't want to redirect, clearly. Is the canonical tag the correct way to go?

Return of investment on spend on google adwords
Hi Running an adwords campaign for a builders/construction company namely double glazing what sort of return of investment could I expect to get on a return of £4000 per month? I know its a million dollar question but any insight or thoughts would be appreciated, especially on tracking ROI for example in this case it's just leads via a contact form on potential conservatory, windows or doors work which would be followed up via phone and an onsite visit.

Google Adwords Conversion Tracking - Recording Wrong Page
Hi Guys I have a problem with my Google Adwords conversion tracking. Basically whenever I check to see which page it is recording, it shows me the incorrect one. Now I probably checked a thousand time now and the conversion tracking code is not on this specific page, but is on the one that I really want to track. I have also checked that the code is correct and that there is nothing missing. But strangely enough when I look at historical data, it does show that is was tracking conversions on the correct page, but for some reason the past couple of weeks it's reporting conversions from another page, which is the incorrect one. If somebody could please give me some insight as to what could maybe be the cause of this, I would appreciate it. Thank You Dave

SIte wide links by google display / adsense
hey guys, I had a quick question about my back links that might be coming from adsense. I am trying to help my father our on his site and help him recover from penguin. unfortunately his company hired some shady SEOers to do "SEO". little did my dad know the BLs he were getting might be spammy, thats what I am checking now. When I ran a BL report on him ( i use two tools, SEO spyglass and OSE ) i found that there were many "sitewide" links, but i dont think there were placed there by the webmaster, i think they come from adsense. I know he has a PPC campaign where the daily spend is 3k/ day so I know its very possible that this might be the case. If my tool is picking up BLs from these sites ( which are niche related ) does google count these links for ranking purposes? and might this hurt my rankings if google just sees these as "sitewide links"
