I am doing some SEO work for a lawyer and I am wondering if there are good legal directories I should be using to help improve SERP's.

As amusing as Dmitril's answer is, you don't want to be looking at directories for any SEO perks - you won't find any. I would avoid directories for anything other than picking up clients who are actually looking.
Look more towards content and link acquisition. Make something great that people will want to make use of / refer to. Much more longevity in this route.

Lawyer versus Attorney... does it matter?
Having worked with quite a few firms and large partnerships I have always wondered a bit about how Google or Bing approach terms like attorney or lawyer, attorneys or lawyers. Having done a lot of KWA analysis I can tell you that in some states you will have a preference for one over the other and it is rather fluid. Even when you get into specific disciplines within the law, you will see searchers favor one over the other. So, for an example you might see in Texas that divorce attorney is searched more frequently than divorce lawyer but Criminal lawyer is more prevalent over criminal attorney. Does anyone know if search engines look at attorney and lawyer as interchangeable such that if you build a page and only use lawyer you would still be able to rank as attorney, etc? I have my opinions based on experience but just thought it would be cool to hear from others. Thanks

How do I remove bad web directory listings?
I am starting SEO for an E commerce website. I guess like 1 year or two ago they had another SEO company working for them. After looking in Site explorer I realized that they have like 2000 links (almost all from website directories) that have the correct anchor text but are all in the wrong categories, and most from countries like china and india. Many of the Titles are even in Chinese. This company sells packaging supplies and they are in categories like real estate, animals, and so on. I am changing the domain name, so I guess any links to internal pages will be lost, however I have to forward the main domain to my new domain, so any links to the home page will still be there. Does anyone know how I can remove these links??

Yahoo directory inclusion
Does anyone know what the odds are of a website getting rejected from the yahoo directory. I don't want to pay $300 to have my site declined. They have very basic inclusion requirements but I'm not sure how selective they are with accepting websites. From personal experience does anyone have any idea of how hard/easy/likely you are to get listed if you pay the $300?

I am working on patio umbrellas keyword to achieve top 3 ranking in Google. I have achieved top 30 ranking with help of on page optimization and want to achieve top 3 ranking with help of link building. Today, I was checking SEO web directories on SEOmoz. Now, I can't make any changes on live website exclude content. So, I have only one option to deal with link building. There are 3 sections over there including Web Directories, Social Directories & Local Directories. So, which is best one to improve my ranking on Google?
