Canonicals Url question

I manage a computer repair company website, www.callnerds.com One of our main marketing strategies are blog articles and press releases to newspappers.
Because of this, we have a subfolder for the author of the newspaper articles who is becoming well known, and we wanted a place for people to connect with her personally. on this site callnerds.com/andrea We only publish articles that Andrea writes.
Then on the blog we publish all of the articles, including articles that andrea writes, in addition to articles written by everyone else on our staff.
i would like suggestions on wether a canonical link on the /andrea site should be used. the canonical link wold point to our blog. Her site is starting to get high quality links from newspapers and magazines, however all of the content on the site is duplicate content of the same article on our blog. Any thoughts?

That would be desirable, so you do not get any dupe content penality. It is then a question of which way you prefer the juice to flow. If Andrea's page is more targetted and getting the links, then rel canonical links from the blog to those pages may be more benificial.

It does appear that some of the posts are duplicate content, so you should use the canonical tag on those pages. For example, you serve the same post under http://callnerds.com/andrea/understanding-verizons-tiered-data-plans/ and http://www.callnerds.com/blog/att-and-verizon-tiered-data-plans-7132011/. I would suspect you'd want the main blog to get the link juice and appear in search results, so you'd want to place a canonical tag on the /andrea/ version pointing to the /blog/ version. I would imagine all her posts duplicate posts on the main blog, so you should add it to all of them.
Andrea's page, http://callnerds.com/andrea/, doesn't appear to be duplicate content of the main blog page http://www.callnerds.com/blog/, so I wouldn't add the canonical tag to that page. I don't think the content between the two pages is similar enough that the search engines would respect the tag anyway. That's good anyway, because you want her page to rank when people are looking for her posts.

Reversing Canonical URLs?
A few months back, we set up canonical URLs on some pages with duplicate content to give some newer pages more link juice. Now, we need to do the opposite and give that same juice to some of the original pages. If we set up canonical URLs on the newer pages to point back to the original pages, are we losing the juice we've been building all along? Sorry for all this convoluted juice talk. Hopefully, my point is getting across here.

Shortened URLs Passing Link Equity?
Hi everyone, I was going through a competitor's backlinks, and I noticed they had a number of links from ow.ly and bit.ly that according to Open Site Explorer were passing link equity with PA in the 40 and DA in the 90s. How does that happen? And, how can I duplicate that? I thought those services just shortened your URLs for Twitter feeds mostly, and Twitter no-followed everything. Internal Linking Questions
Hello, here are my questions. 1:Should I be internal linking back to my home page from every subpage or lower page on my site. Or, is that going overboard? 2: If i'm internal linking back to a page with an anchor text that has no relation to the page, will that pass less relevance? So for example lets say the current page is about mazda cars. Then, I link to a page about ford cars with the anchor text Mazda cars that would pass less relevance, right? Thanks for your help

I have a seo company working on my website. should I create a page my www.website/keyword vs building links to website.com. Got a link building question here
I've been doing a lot of back link analysis on my competitors and noticed that a lot of links are coming from wordpress.com, blog.com, blogspot.com, etc blogs. These are free blogs in the format of http://www.username.blogplatform.com. These individual blogs seem to have product reviews and mentions for many different products (we are an e-commerce website). I would like to know if anyone has done any outreach to the owners of the third party blogs. This looks very different from guest blogging and I want to know if there is a way to reach out to these blog owners in order for them to write something about our products. Please let me know if anyone had any success with this, Thank you

A backlinks question
Hi all Could do with a second opinion on this one if anyone has a moment please. Recent Google updates have targeted overally optimised backlink profiles as they are clearly for seo purposes and not natural. The question I have is how does this relate to an ecommerce website? If I sell 'blue 1980 aged cheese' (I know nothing about cheese so perhaps not the best example!!) and I have a url on my shop domain.com/store/blue-1980-aged-cheese with the product name as the page title along with the domain name. If I were to get backlinks pointing to this page using the anchor of 'blue 1980 aged cheese' (and other variations of that, blue cheese, aged blue cheese etc) would this be considered to be too optimised? Given the page is about this item then surely it could be considered natural that people link using the product name, as well as using the site name and the domain url Any thoughts please Thanks, Carl

Same Page, Multiple URLS- Canonical tag? Redirect?
I just read this article about how google views multiple versions of the same page as different pages of duplicate content. My website, www.telikin.com currently has many versions of the home page. There is: www.telikin.com

www.telikin.com/index.php/ All of these seem to be their own URLS, If i use the open site explorer tool to search for links pointing to these URLS, the www.telikin.com domain shows about 700 links, and the www.telikin.com/index.php shows about 63 links. My questions: Is my SEO suffering as a result of having these different pages? Does google realize that links pointing to www.telikin.com/index.php should count towards the seo of the www.telikin.com page? If this is hurting my company's website, how do I solve this problem? I am not versed as a webmaster, so I don't understand what the best course of action would be. Should I request that our webmaster somehow redirects all traffic from the other URLS to the main www.telikin.com URL? Should I be using canonical tags on all important pages? If i do, for example, use a canonical tag on the www.telikin.com page, will Google then know to send all link juice from the www.telikin.com/index.php page to the www.telikin.com page? We also have a Joomla blog that seems to duplicate pages many times over, but that is a problem that I will have to address another time. Any comments/suggestions are more than welcome. Set a desination url to text that did not have it previously
I have the following question. Is it OK to set a desination url to text that did not have it previously? Can it cause SEO (SERP) issues? For example, I have this sentence: The tool you're using is great, but this template will help you. Say, the "this template" text has been just plain text for like a year. And now I want to add a certain destination url to the "this template" phrase. So, can it cause some SEO issues to me or not?
