Keyword Difficulty Tool
-
Hi Mozzers!
Randfishkin just posted yesterday a very nice important and helpfull post, about keyword difficulty.
I will be happy, if you can write here the metrics from reports of keyword difficulty, to know more about position of our website on SERP, and to know more what to engage if someone is ranking higher than me, with same metrics of the report of keyword difficulty.
It would be very nice, if we talk on this topic here about keyword difficulty how to's.
Thanks

Hi,
It seems you need some assistance with Online Reputation Management, the thing is if you have news paper websites or other very high authority sites which rank for your brand terms then they links up via huge networks it can lead to having some issues with out ranking these sites.
Something which may assist you is this post: http://www.seomoz.org/blog/our-online-reputation-management-playbook
If you do not feel confident outranking these sites then yeah outsource the work.
Regards,
James Norquay

Hi Egol, on my situation, im trying to clean the SERP for my brand name, working on my brand-domains doing link-building, to rank higher than negative result.
and i just maked an analyse with keyword-difficulty tool, and result is: 41%, and the domains is crashing me, is from DA:49 domain, and about 100coments,(ugc) 50% of comments from us, and 50% from competitors.
And for example for my situation, its good to know every metric of this analyse-of-keyword difficulty, to know more exactly what to engage.
Thanks EGOL

Excessive use of KeyWord?
Hey I have an Immigration website in South Africa
Technical SEO | | NikitaG
MigrationLawyers.co.za and the website used to be divided in to two categories:
1st part - South African Immigration
2nd part - United Kingdom Immigration Because of that we made all the pages include the word "South Africa" in the titles. eg.
...ers.co.za/work-permit-south-africa
...ers.co.za/spousal-visa-south-africa
...ers.co.za/retirement-permit-south-africa
...ers.co.za/permanent-residence-south-africa I'm sure you get the idea.
we since, removed the UK part of the website and now are left only with the SA part. Now my question is: Is it bad? will google see this as spammy, as I'm targeting "South Africa" in almost every link of the website. Should I stick to the structure for new pages, or try to avoid any more use of "South Africa". Perhaps I can change something as it currently stands? Kind Regards

After fixing duplicate pages problem - keyword rankings have fallen off a cliff!
We have recently signed up to SEOMOZ and found that our site had over 2,500 duplicated pages. We reported it the the web designer and they found links on the website to an old prototype version of the website and so they did a SQL run to get rid of them. Doing this got rid of 90% of them. However, this morning, moz has just done another crawl of our website and our keyword rankings have fallen off a cliff. Particularly, important one that we were at position 1 for. We are now on the fifth page. Can anyone shed any light on it? Will this be temporary? Thanks Stuart

Site (Subdomain) Removal from Webmaster Tools
We have two subdomains that have been verified in Google Webmaster Tools. These subdomains were used by 3rd parties which we no longer have an affiliation with (the subdomains no longer serve a purpose). We have been receiving an error message from Google: "Googlebot can't access your site. Over the last 24 hours, Googlebot encountered 1 errors while attempting to retrieve DNS information for your site. The overall error rate for DNS queries for your site is 100.00%". I originally investigated using Webmaster Tools' URL Removal Tool to remove the subdomain, but there are no indexed pages. Is this a case of simply 'deleting' the site from the Manage Site tab in the Webmaster Tools interface?

Keyword targeting by page, site, or both?
Hi, We recently discovered that a product we sell has a misnomer, and that a ton of people take to Google and use variations of that misnomer while trying to find us. Unfortunately we don't rank in Google for this keyword, and its costing us thousands in lost sales. I've been slowly building the misnomer into the content of our site in hopes that the spiders will pick up on it. It has started to work in the last couple weeks, but we're nowhere near the top (and we are #1 and #2 for most of our other prime keywords.) The site which sells the product is specialized, and only sells this specific product (in different models, but they're all the same product essentially.) With that in mind, I'm trying to figure out the best way to attack a new keyword. I know that normally you would dedicate a specific page (in an eCommerce store probably that product's own page) to employ your SEO tactics. However, because this site specializes in this product and offers different models and information about it I'm confused about the best approach. Does Google take into consideration the entire site a s whole, or are the pages within my site competing against each other for rank?

Keyword in Domain or not?
My on page optimization grade is an "A" with the following factors; Factor Overview

Critical Factors

4 / 4

High Importance Factors

7 / 7

Moderate Importance Factors

8 / 9

Low Importance Factors

11 / 11

Optional Factors

5 / 5

The main thing I appear to be missing is keywords in my URL. How truly important is that in today's SEO world and how much time or ranking would be lost if I do not have control to change the external links to my website if I decided to migrate to a keyword relevant url?
