Recommendations for Magento hosting
-
Any recommendations for hosting companies in the UK to host a large-ish Magento site?
Also is it worthwhile going after someone who specialises in Magento hosting or not?
Don't really want to go down a dedicated server root due to cost.
Hints, tips and advice much appreciated
Thank you in advance

HI,
If it is a largish shop I would probably go for a Magento hosting partner / specialist. Magento is a resource hog and specialists will have tweaked certain settings in the db / php / server setup to address magento specific performance issues. Costs a bit more but you can rest easy that it is setup the way it should be. Have heard good comments about nexcess but haven't any direct experience with them....

Found the link to TSO's magento hosting... https://www.tsohost.com/web-hosting/magento-hosting

Although I haven't personally used these guys, I hear TSO is good. Plus I think they even have a special Magento hosting plan.
Can you go with a VPS? We're not on Magento but are using Godaddy's (actually from a reseller) servers and it's been great.

Solved Recommended title length for Google search results
I read the recommended title length is 50-60 characters depending on alphabets, etc,.

Anyways, my question is, is there any harm of having longer title?
If all my important keywords are within the 50-60 characters that will show up on search results, I can still make the title longer, it's just that those keywords outside won't have any effect on search results?0 -
Any recommendations for an XML Sitemap for a large community website?
Hi all, Once of our clients is a large community website for parents/parenting. The standard Wordpress XML Sitemap plugin is throwing up lots of errors, etc, and is not ideal. Does anyone have any recommendations for either a tool that we could use to create a better one, or else a service that we could pay to use? Gavin

Magento product pages - should they have a .php or .html?
Hi all, I'm using a plugin to do some SEO work on my Magento site It says this is an error: Product pages should have a suitable file type extension such as .php or .html I removed .html when I first set up my store because I though it looked more aesthetically pleasing, but does this have a negative effect on SEO? I can't find much information on this matter in my searches. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thank you, Laura

Recommended Length for a Companies "Services" Page Content
I am in the process of revamping my company's website. I do WordPress Development, Design, and SEO consulting, and i'm running into a sort of writer's block when wring my services pages. For example, my page on WordPress Security has 388 words of "body" content, and I feel from a content perspective, it serves it's purpose, but from an SEO perspective it is considered a little light. I really don't know what the SOP is here, because, I've literally seen competitors sites have a page on "WordPress Security" rank on the first page of Google with absolutely no content, an empty page. I see a lot of the Moz posts are huge, thosands of words, and I know they perform very well (and they also have ton's of links / PR...etc) and I just want to do the right thing. I know sites like http://www.seerinteractive.com/our-services/search-engine-optimization have relatively short info pages as well. Thanks in advance for your feedback. Does hosting server location affect my local google page rank
Hi All, This is my first (of many I would say) questions. My clients site is in Ireland but the hosting service is in Canada. So when i use the MozBar it states that the IP is in Canada. Will this affect my page ranking in Dublin, Ireland? The company is a plumbing service so we would only want local Dublin customers. Thanks so much and I hope someone can help me out. cheers, Aidan

It has been recommended that we remove the number of links in our footer, should we?
We have a pretty user friendly footer with almost an entire site-map on it. It's similar to many e-commerce company footers, and I think it's useful to the user. SEO professionals have recommended that to reduce the number of links on any given page on our site we should compress our footer and only show the headers, thus removing many links. This in my opinion is a disservice to the user and makes the site not look as good, but maybe it's a good idea for SEO to get rid of so many links per page? What do you think?
