Which is better for SEO: blog.site.com or site.com/blog. In other words, is it better to have the blog running in a subdomain or as a director within the main site? Right now we are running as a subdomain, but want to be sure Google isn't considering that a separate site. The blog shows up separately on Google Analytics, which makes me think site.com/blog is better if for no other reason, it would give our domain greater traffic.
Not sure if this matters, but some site info:
- our site is a sharing economy tool for renting your stuff
- we are running the blog on Wordpress
- blog traffic is about 5% of total traffic

In my opinion, if you run an E-Commerce site or a site that is hard to build links to, I would stay away from a subdomain.
For example, product pages on E-Commerce sites are especially difficult to build links to. If you look at the product page link profile on sites like Amazon, you will find almost no links pointing to those pages. The reason they usually rank #1 in the SERPs is because of their DA. This is where blogs come into play. If you have a sound content marketing strategy that is bringing in links to your blog posts, these posts will pass link juice to your root domain and improve your overall rankings.
If you are using site.com/blog rather than blog.site.com it might help your SEO by passing more link juice and improving your root domain, but it certainly won't hurt it. There is a possibility it might help if you switch, so I would opt for that.

Subdomains can be seen as a seperate site altogether from the main domain. I would recommend keeping the blog on a directory within the main site.

Blog post generating irrelevant traffic. What should I do with it?
I have a blog post that has been generating more than 75% of my website's traffic month over month.-averaging about 1000 views a month. Awesome that so many people are finding and benefiting from this post, however it is really skewing my traffic. Hi There, I have my main site : example.com and a related blog https://blog.example.com/ My management does not believe frequent content posting on the example.com My Queries 1- Will it help boost ranking of **example.com **if we share frequent content on our blog https://blog.example.com/? Publishing on sites with greater domain authority
Hello, I had an idea, probably not original: While my website is still gaining domain authority, I was thinking about publishing articles in a website with great domain authority that allows articles from third parties. This way the article's relevance + domain authority of the site would result in a better position on Google for the article I write and with proper links, I can attract people to my website. This would be a temporary strategy until my website's domain authority increases. Any suggestions on how to do this? Where can I publish articles to attract people to my website (except blogs)? Index.html vs. default.html
Hi, I have a website that is about 7 years old. I had been using index.html as the home page. When I redesigned my site about 3 months ago I changed it to default.html. The old index.html page was still on my server. I just realized my mistake. All of my links to the home page lead to the new default.html. However, people are still landing on the old index.html. I have change the old index.html to the new design but that means i have 2 "home" pages out there. Should i delete one? Should I leave them both there but use the canonical tag for one so it is not considered duplicate content? What is best for my rankings?
