Keyword ranking - authority information
-
How can you explain that a website (not mine) appears on 1st place in Google (on the Keyword Difficulty Tool/Ranking Analysis) but the Page Authority, Page Linking Root Domains, Domain Authority, and Root Domain Linking Root Domains are much lower than the other websites on the list.
Even when running the On-Page Report Card, this website gets grade F comparing to the other (including mine) websites that get better grades.
I just want to understand which criteria I'm missing that can explain why a website appears on first place when it seems it's not well optimized. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Jan, thanks for your time and feedback. You are giving me some direction for further analysis.

Hi Yesenia I don't have time to look at it in much detail, but had another look, and I think it boils down to relevant links. jenzabar might have less PA and DA, but the links flowing to jenzabar must be more relevant. So I think datatel, probably has more trusted links, but not necessarily relevant,.
-
I understand your point. So, now a more direct question why datatel.com (position 9) is not higher in the ranking if that website is all about higher education software as well. This is not a new website and comparing content on both websites they have a similar structure. I assume rankings will change at some point?
Thanks for your time.

Hi Yesenia
The answer is quite simple. I had a detailed look at the first 5 sites and compared some metrics....as you said, the metrics you mentioned indicate that jenzabar.com should not rank number one. However, if you look at their website in detail you will see they are all about higher education services (and the other sites all have this as a sub product, it isn't their main product), so jenzabar (in terms of content) is by far the most relevant than any of these websites, and users looking for higher education software probably spend alot more time on their website than the other websites (so here user statistics metrics might be influencing the rankings). Google has clearly flagged this as the most relevant reliable source, and thinks its giving its users the best experience by ranking jenzibar no 1. Remember, Googles number 1 goal is to give the customer a good experience, and not show the website with the best ranking metrics....makes sense?

would it be possible to provide the example or an example? without more information it would be vague guesses at best.

MoZ & Other Keyword Tools
Hi There, 1- Does MoZ provide the data on “which keyword searchers are searching in a particular market”, so that I can make a better decision regarding my own keywords? If MoZ does not do this what other best tool is out there in market for this particular purpose? 2- Suppose I decide some keywords for my site and start doing optimization for them. "Does MoZ tell me “how much traffic my those keywords are receiving with the passage of time”. If MoZ does not do this what other best tool is out there in market for this particular purpose? 3- Does Moz give "data on competitors keyword activity also"? If MoZ does not do this what other best tool is out there in market for this particular purpose? Hope somebody with concrete knowledge and experience will enlighten me. Cheers Tanveer

Updating Meta Keywords
Hi I am going through the process of cleaning up the SEO on my blog www.shoottokyo.com. Someone recommended that I can use ScreamingFrog to find the location of 4xx errors and I noticed that there are Meta Keywords on about 200 of my posts but some of them are wrong such as it mentions my old city I lived in or my old camera I used to use. I want to clean these up. If I look on the post itself in Wordpress I don't even this this information. Where can I edit it? Is there a way to easily edit across multiple posts? I previously used All in One SEO perhaps these came from that and I need to reinstall that to clean this up? I'm new to all of this expect a lot of questions. Thanks Dave

Branded keywords
I'm trying to understand this concept a little further. Say if I create a branded keyword, "dc widgets" I then start to add keywords such as "maker" "toy" and apply the branded keyword to it. Does this mean that they then become "maker dc widgets" and "toy dc widgets" ? What purpose does branded keywords offer?

Domain / Page Authority - logarithmic
SEOmoz says their Domain / Page Authority is logarithmic, meaning that lower rankings are easier to get, higher rankings harder to get. Makes sense. But does anyone know what logarithmic equation they use? I'm using the domain and page authority as one metric in amongst other metrics in my keyword analysis. I can't have some metrics linear, others exponential and the SEOmoz one logarithmic.

Started my first campaign - keyword rankings do not match
Hello, I started my first campaign on SEOmoz and my keword position do not match the results I receive by using google search or by using another SEO program. For example - Ingersoll Watches should be on position 6 on google.com - SEOmoz shows me Ingersoll Watches is on 16. Why does SEOmoz show different results? Thank you for your attention!

Page Authority vs Domain Authority
I'm hoping this is a quick and simple question. Sometimes when using the open site explorer or the keyword difficulty tool i find that some pages have a higher "page authority" than the "domain authority." That seemed odd to me, is there a correlation between the two? You would think by default as you grow your page authority the domain authority increases as well? So i guess my question would be, what happens on a page to give it a higher page authority than domain authority?
