Wrong redirect used

Hi Folks,
I have a query & looking for some opinions.Our site migrated to https://
Somewhere along the line between the developer & hosting provided 302 redirect was implemented instead of the recommended 301 (the 301 rule was not being honured in the htaccess file.)
1 week passed, I noticed some of our key phrases disappear from the serps
When investigated, I noticed this the incorrect redirect was implemented.The correct 301 redirect has now been implemented & functioning correctly.
- I have created a new https property in webmaster tools,
- Submitted the sitemap,
- Provided link in the robots.txt file to the https sitemap
- Canonical tags set to correct https.
My gut feeling is that Google will take some time to realise the problem & take some time to update the search results we lost.
Has anyone experienced this before or have any further thoughts on how to rectify asap.

Thanks a million for your response.
Implemented both your suggestions, Screaming frog showed the previous 302 are now 301 so everything seems ok on that end. I have also updated Google My Places listing to reflectUsing site:mydomain.com has showed a mixture of https vs http so I am guessing I just need to wait & monitor - cross my fingers & hope for the best.

It sounds like you have done all the right things. I agree with Vettyy that you should use something like Screaming Frog to crawl all the old URLs just to double check there are no hanging 404 pages or missed http pages. Switching to 301 will take a few days to filter through, so you could run cache:domain.com in Google on your most important pages to monitor when they are being crawled. Also do you have a mix of http and https in Google in present? It may very well be something to just wait and monitor.
A good tool for sniffing URLs headers is Fiddler.

I normally do a fetch and render in Google Search Console (webmaster tools) and submit to index. It gives you the option of submitting an individual page but I normally fetch and render the main domain and then select 'crawl this url and its direct links'. Then if there are only a couple of important pages not being indexed or recognized by Google, fetch and render and submit those individual ones.
type in site:www.yourdomain.com" in Google to monitor manually which pages are indexed as well.
If you have the time I would pop a list of your original urls in screaming frog to see which page their redirecting to, or test a couple of pages using this http://www.wheregoes.com/retracer.php to see how many redirects are in place.

Is it best to 301 redirect or use canonical Url when consolidating two pages?
I have build several pages (A and B) with high quantity content. Page A is aged and gets lots of organic traffic, ranks for lots of valuable keywords, and has only internal links to this page. Page B is newer (6 months) and gets little traffic, ranks for no keywords, but has terrific content and many high value external links. As Page A and B are related to a similar theme, I was going to merge content from page B onto page A, but don't know which would be the best approach for handling the links going to page B. For the purposes of keep as much link equity as possible, is it best to us a 301 redirect from B to A or use a canonical URL from B to A?

For how long does Google honor a 302 redirect?
Greetings! I would love some recent experiences to support our experience which is +/- 1 year old on this question. Based on our experiences around a year ago, I believe that Google will only honor a 302 temporary redirect for a relatively short period - perhaps up to a month - and then it will begin treating the redirect as a 301 redirect and will remove the old page from the index. Have others seen this? Is there an update on what the max "safe" period to have a 302 in place could be? We have a domain that is soon to experience about 3 months of "downtime" with no content on it, but the content will be back after that time. Ideally we would 302 redirect the pages elsewhere just for that downtime period. However, I don't want to do a 302 redirect if there is a risk that the pages will lose all of their accumulated authority and indexing. Basically, is there any safe way to just put the domain on ice for a few months? Please share recent experience only. Thanks for your insights!

ISAPI Redirect in httpd.ini doc
Hi folks, Due to working on a site older than myself, I find myself in a position whereby I need to set up some redirects in the httpd.ini document. I had wrongly assumed this would be in the same way as I would in htaccess, but alas, no dice. There's nothing special about what I'm trying to do, but I think the expressions are what are confusing me. I'm trying to redirect this example page - http://www.example.com/subfolder/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=12345 to it's subfolder http://www.example.com/subfolder/. Here's what I have: [ISAPI_Rewrite] Redirecting old article to new locations RewriteRule ^/subfolder/DisplayArticle.asp?ID=12345 /subfolder/ [R=301,L] Can someone please point me in the right direction? It appears that Googlebot Mobile will look for mobile redirects from the desktop site, but still use the SEO from the desktop site.
Is the above statement correct? I've read that its better to have different SEO titles & descriptions for mobile sites as users search differently on mobile devices. I've also read it's good to link build, keep text content on mobile sites etc to get the mobile site to rank. If I choose to not have titles & descriptions on my mobile site will Google just rank our desktop version & then redirect a user on a mobile device to our mobile site or should I be adding in titles & descriptions into the mobile site? How long should a domain redirect take?
Hi, I know that this is a 'How long is a piece of string?' type question but at what point should the ranking value of site A pass over to site B following a domain 301 redirect? I have shifted a domain over to a new URL, same hosting server, same IP address. I haven't made any URL changes or any content changes other than to change the site logo to match the new domain name. Domain B is basically an exact clone of domain A. I have redirected Domain A to domain B using the following line at the top of the .htaccess file:- Redirect 301 / http://www.newdomain.com/ I have submitted a sitemap for the new domain via google webmaster tools. It looks like the original domain as been completely indexed by google following the redirect as all rankings have been dropped from the results and there are no results for a site:olddomain.com search. Surely the rankings should have switched over at this point? Any help would be much appreciated.

301 redirect help
Hey guys, I normally work in WordPress and just use a 301 redirect plugin. I bought a site and rather than maintain two similar ones have decided to redirect one to the other. I am having trouble with the .htaccess file. Here is an example. These are two redirects: redirect 301 /category/models/next/2

redirect 301 /category/models I want both of these URLs to redirect to the same URL of the new site. However, the /category/models is the only one working. It redirects to the new page just fine. The /category/models/next/2 is redirecting to nearly the same URL on the new site, only it is adding /next/2 to the end and that is bringing up a 404. Why is it adding /next/2 to the new URL? How can I fix this? There are several doing this. Help appreciated!0 -
Regarding 301 Redirect!
Hello, I heard that 301 redirect can be good for newly registered domain names can i buy a old domain name and put 301 redirect on it to my newly registered niche market domain name. Shall i buy only 1 domain name and put 301 redirect to my newly registered domain names or i can do this for more than 1 old domains i purchased?
