What the blog is going on?

A new client has the following domains:
- www.domain.com (on Shopify)
- www.blogdomain.com (on Squarespace)
It seems BOTH domains are using the same Google Analytics account ID. But they are essentially two different websites (as opposed to the blog being a subdomain or subfolder). I'm struggling to see what value this blog structure is adding to the ecommerce site.
Should these be set up as cross-domain tracking?

I'm going to agree with Chris on this one. I think migrating the blog & placing a redirect is the best solution in regards to SEO.
In regards to the customer/client's response, if I were in your situation I would re-iterate that while their concerns are relevant & likely correct, there are SEO & user flow implications that should be taken into account. If the only concern is styling, I would have a designer re-create the existing css for the 'new' blog.
As far as analytics, there needs to be cross-domain tracking setup if it is not already or it will cause issues in your data if it hasn't already. The change is rather minimal, but will need to be done to all tracking tags.

I agree with you on this one. However, the client feels (rightly or wrongly) that the Shopify blog looks 'ugly' which is why she is continuing with the Squarespace blog.
So my plan is to use data to try and highlight the shortcomings of this strategy (ie. that it isn't generating any traffic or SEO value or conversions), then hopefully persuade her to move to domain.com/blog as you suggested.

Personally, my plan for this layout would be to have the old domain, www.blogdomain.com, redirect to the new blog at www.domain.com/blog. Having the blog on your primary domain allows for new content to be added to your primary website. You want visitors on the site where they convert, instead of leaving blogdomain.com to find domain.com then convert.
It's fine to have the same analytics setup, it will probably make things easier to track as well. However, if you're marketing for both sites it would be easier to have two separate accounts.

Why are my positions going down?
Good afternoon! I would like to know, what could be the reasons for a random decrease in positions of our online casino? A lot of pages appeared in Google Search at the end of June and after a few weeks most of them dropped to >100, some are still ranging but in TOP 70-85. As far as I'm concerned, there were no algorithm updates last two months, our website works fine, both internal and external optimazation is being performed.. The strangest thing is that the rating of the website is growing, but the positions are not 😞

Losing referrer data on http link that redirects to an https site when on an https site. Is this typical or is something else going on here?
I am trying to resolve a referral data issue. Our client noticed that their referrals from one of their sites to another had dropped to almost nothing from being their top referrer. The referring site SiteA which is an HTTPs site, held a link to SiteB, which is also an HTTPs site, so there should be no loss, however the link to SiteB on SiteA had the HTTP protocol. When we changed the link to the HTTPs protocol, the referrals started flowing in. Is this typical? If the 301 redirect is properly in place for SiteB, why would we lose the referral data?

Longterm wordpress blog not providing seo benefit to main site - help needed please
Hi I have a bigcommerce ecommerce store, with a Wordpress blog on a subdomain. The store and blog have been active for four years, the blog is regularly updated with original content, has many links to the store, is promoted regularly via my brand's social media channels and mailing list, and has the simplest SEO basics covered via a Yoast SEO plugin. But the store sees very little, if any, SEO benefit from the blog. My question is: based on this information, and the details below, is there an issue with the connection between the blog and main site in SEO terms? And if there is, how can I start fixing it? Further info: 1 In my Moz dashboard for the store site, the blog does not show at all as providing any inbound links or linking domains 2 Google Analytics also shows zero referral traffic to the store site from the blog since April 2015 3 Moz crawl issues is flagging ‘duplicate page content issues’ for pretty much every page of the blog, and the analysis provided suggests this may be related to tags but I have only basic SEO knowledge and am fast getting out of my depth here. 4 I have today altered the settings within the Yoast plugin on the blog to ‘noindex’ for Tags, Meta Robots, based on advice I have found in this section but am already well over my head and unsure even this is correct. An agency have been running SEO for the store since 2012 but since uncovering how little they have done in this time for the money paid, I am now taking matters back into my own hands. However I am on a very steep learning curve and this one is beyond me right now - please does anyone have any suggestions where I can start looking to uncover the root issue? Any guidance or advice would be greatly appreciated Thanks very much and hope to hear from someone!

Looking for a good GA plugin for Wordpress blog
We're looking to install a plugin for our Wordpress blog, to be able to receive analytical data right in our wordpress dashboard. Can anyone suggest a good one that is working well for them? We are looking for one that is either free, or fairly inexpensive. Google Analytics Dashboard for WordPress appears to be a front-runner for us, has anyone had any experience with this plugin? Google Analytics: How to Track Blog Traffic that Enter the Purchase Funnel?
I've been trying to figure this out for awhile, but I have had no luck. The current ecommerce store that I work for is trying to find out how to track how many people coming in via the blog are converting/buying. The site lives on Magento and the blog is on wordpress and they both use the same Google Analytics code. Site URL: http://website.com/ Blog URL: http://website.com/blog Is there anyway to do this so you can see which landing pages are driving conversions? If not, Is it possible to set up Google Analytics to show conversions and revenue coming from people who enter through blog directory?

Blog posts not appearing in Search
http://www.themorrisagency.co.uk/blog works well to index my niche terms. Looked at webmaster tools today and since today it has put my indexed pages from 900+ to 11 ??? I have recently added a new site format via a web designer and was all working fine. Now none of my posts are appearing.I have resubmitted site map for 993 pages Is there anything I can do to stop/ prevent this from happening again? and what do you think was the cause? How do I measure the most popular article on a blog?
Just want to get peoples idea on how the best way to measure the success of the best articles on a website/blog. I'm looking at a few different options that can give each author a fair chance without being overlooked. For instance if we just look at the most clicked on article then its not fair on articles published in months with slower traffic like January. So should we measure the success by a)most page visited after an article view b)most clicked on article by month(this would be unfair for slower traffic months) c)most shared via Social d)article with most new visits It would be great to get everyone's expert opinion on this.
