MozRank and mozTrust computations
-
Are there any details on the computations involved with mR and mT?
I am specifically wondering about Google.com. The DA and PA is 100. If that page does not max out on the other factors it seems that no internet page or site would.
The page has the following stats:
mR 8.68
mT 7.95
DmR 9.29
DmT 9.36
Until now I have only focused on DA & PA. I would like to better understand the mechanics of these other measurements.

Hi Ryan,
You can learn more about MozRank and MozTrust at the following pages:
http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/mozrank
http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/moztrust
The most basic reason why google.com doesn't have a perfect 10 for MR and MT is because no site does. Mozrank is the global link authority and importance of a site independent of a specific query. Those sites with a higher MozRank are likely to rank higher than their lesser ranking counterparts and not even google.com ranks #1 for every keyword possible in a search engine. PA/DA are directly related to how well a site will rank in Google.com using a variety of different metrics.
Read about Page Authority and Domain Authority here:

Definitely, check out those links though to learn all about these different metrics.

I'm flagging this one for the help team to come in and take a look at when they get a chance (though they're a bit busy right now with some other issues so it might be a bit). I don't have an answer for this one myself.

Ryan - Thanks for asking this question. Now I don't feel stupid for wondering how MR and MR (or even the Google equivalents) work.
As another comparator, the Library of Congress's MR & MT :
Page MR 7.27
MT 8.39
Domain MR 7.61
MT 8.92
Perhaps Rand could address this in a White Board ?

MozTrust
One of our clients competitors are showing similar MozTrust numbers even though Open site explorer is only showing 10 in-bound links for them and our client is showing 70 or so. The competitor’s in-bound links are not showing any more quality to them than our clients so one great link pulling their numbers up does not seem to be the answer. Where else can I look to try and determine why the competitor would be pulling in similar MozTrust Numbers? Our client has a DA of 27 and the competitor is 15.

6 Months Data = Domain MozRank and MozTrust still 0.00
I have a domain with six months of data in my PRO account. The MozRank and MozTrust is still 0.00. Is this normal? If not, what on Earth am I doing wrong?!?

Some thoughts on MozTrust based on OSE Findings X ref'd with SERPS
I've been doing a bit of competitor analysis for a client using OSE. There are a group of about 4 websites (our clients website included) that all dominate the sector with none of the 4 clearly out in front (call this GROUP A). Then there are another group of about 5 websites, which come lower in the SE's consistently than the top 4 (Call this GROUP B) **I've been doing some analysis in OSE: ** ALL GROUP B Websites outrank all of GROUP A websites in the OSE Metrics (Including Trust Rank). I did some analysis on the backlinks in Group A VS Group B Group A - Generally a mixture of ok links from blog posts, sponsorship, and ok directories. Group B - As A, but with fewer numbers of links from quality blogs PLUS A high level of spammy links ( .edu and .gov spam filled pages), very low quality, almost non legible blog posts on MFA sites (think Digital Point sellers). From the above it is clear that the OSE metrics are out of whack with the real SE results. Clearly OSE has a few problems with working out what are spammy links and what are decent. Obviously google also has issues with working this out, so I am not surprised that OSE also does - but that doesn't solve the issue. This is a general discussion - so I would just throw in a few thoughts on how OSE may possibly try are overcome some of these issues : 1/. % Trust Links vs Non trust Links:

Add in a metric to Trust Rank where the number of links close to trusted sites are also compared to the number of links not close to trusted sites. If you see a very high ratio of links from sites that are not close to trusted sites, it is a strong indicator of spammy links. 2/. Use seed "Non Trusted" sites to create a negative Trust Rank
Use something like a reverse of the "trusted sites" theory, but taking a load of very clearly spammy / link manipulative sites and work out in terms of links connections how far the site is away from these sites. Thoughts???0 -
Gained Links but MozRank drops. Why?
I'm working with a client whose external followed links rose from 897 to 2792 in about a month. However the client's domain MozRank dropped from 4.52 to 3.82. What is a possible cause for this drop?

How to Calculate % improvement in Mozrank and Domain Authority
I understand the concept that mozrank and Domain Authority are measured on a logarithmic scale . http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/mozrank I'm trying to determine the percentage improvement in the Logrithmic value. For example Original Domain Authority 60 Original Mozrank 5 End Domain Authority 63 End Mozrank 6. So 5% change in DA and 20% change in MozRank. How do we convert these numbers to the real logrithmic change?

MozTrust VERY low
Our mozTrust number is just 1.06. Looking at the rankings for important keywords for us, the sites around us all have over 4. However on closer inspection, even some with a mozTrust of over 4 don't really have much of a different linking profile than our site. With one competitor, I've looked on OpenSiteExplorer comparing link metrics, and we get tickmarks for everything other than mozTrust (1.06 us, 4.5 them). What could posssibly be causing such a low number, and how important a factor is this in SERPS?

Metrics from Linkscape - DJ Passed, URL mozRank Passed and funny numbers
Hello, Hoping someone can help me understand the difference between the Domain Juice Passed and some interesting numbers found in the exported CSV file. I ran the Advanced Link Intelligence Report and focusing on the Links to Domain metrics. It looks like the report is sorted by mozRank passed but next to each link we are given the DJ Passed instead. Why is that? My confusion is compounded by the fact that when I export the CSV of this report it no longer includes the DJ Passed numbers but does show URL mozRank Passed instead. For Example, on the web version of the Advanced Link Intelligence Report the top link is: http://www.holdenouterwear.com/shop.php with mozRank: 5.56 mozTrust: 5.95 and DJ Passed: 4.49 In the CSV file we don't get the DJ passed but get the URL mozRank Passed of: 0.00051 Looking at the CSV file further some links have URL mozRank Passed of 4.00E-05 Anyone has a clear explanation of why DJ Passed is not in the CSV file and how the mozRank passed is calculated? And what the 4.00E-05 mean? Thank you.
