We´re in trouble with our on site internal link optimization - please help
-
Dear Moz community,
We have made a great mistake. Looking at keyword search volumes somehow Moz showed volumes for two keywords which only differentiate by an '**s (plural) as same. **Now we optimized our internal links (all links have the keyword) for the singular word.
Now looking at other search volume estimations from competitors we see, that the plural has 5 times bigger volume.
Our issue: If we change some of the category links now to another keyword, we will loose our ranking with the singular word. Correct?
If we do not change any of our internal links, we will never rank in top 6 with the keyword. (currently singular is 6 and plural is 15)
What would you reccomend?

Hi AdvertisingCloud -
Thanks for your question. It's definitely one that gets asked pretty often.
Honestly, you should do what is right for the user. Do you have multiple of the keyword (eg widgets) and not just one (eg widget)? If so, use the multiple because it's what the user who is looking for multiples will want to see. If the latter, use the singular.
If you're really concerned about losing rankings, build more good links. That'll help out across the board with your rankings.
Hope that helps!
John

Sitelinks to internal pages
Hi Moz Community, Is it only possible to get sitelinks to your main domain in the SERPs or can you also get them to internal pages in the SERPs? i.e. if this were to pop up in the SERP: www.mysite.com/page1

Site Wide Link
I have just run up the link explorer on my site and discovered that every page home page link points back with the text home - I assume this is bad in terms of SEO , my site name is ccie and I assumed that it put the site wide link of ccie to the entire site, however it seems to be the breadcrumb default of home which is doing it/. www.rogerperkin.co.uk/ccie Should I be looking to change this so my top keyword points back from each page to the home page. I am running wordpress and assumed the site name was the home link on all pages. Can anyone advise the best practice? Thanks

SSL sites and SEO
I'm seeing a lot about how SSL sites can negatively affect SEO from the analytics perspective, but if duplicate content issues are addressed and load times are OK, what else is there to worry about? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you!

Limiting On Page Links
Right now, we have about 160 or so links on the home page. It's been recommended that we keep it to under 100, though that's not as big of a deal as it once was. Is it helpful to make a bunch of those links "nofollow" in order to preserve link juice? Is it going to make a difference, or be at all helpful? I assume it won't be harmful, especially as a bunch of them are to the same page but on different sections of the page. Would live your advice and thoughts! Thanks!
