How does Shopify attribute conversions?

I'm trying to resolve a number of conversion discrepancies found in Google Analytics. I discovered that Shopify also provides its own 'conversion details'.
In some cases they correlate, which is awesome! But in many cases they do not. Anyone know why this is?
And which is more reliable (remembering that Shopify is an actual, real order)?
Does anybody know how Shopify attributes conversions (ie. last click, first click, or some hybrid of the two)?

I can confirm that Shopify records the source of the FIRST click to the site and does not update it.
I can also confirm that (by default) Google Analytics records the LAST source in a session which results in a conversion (ie. Last Click).
So in some cases it will be the same (eg. the user first comes to the site from a Google organic search and decides to place an order during the same session).
But in other cases, the user may first come to the site from (say) a Google Ad, perhaps sign up for email, then return some time later via the email, or direct, or from an organic search, or whatever. In this case, Shopify will have recorded the initial source (Google Ad) and Google Analytics will have recorded the last source (or Last Click).
There are a few edge cases where GA does not capture the conversion (eg. if the users transacts on Paypal, but does not return to the site, therefore does not trigger the 'thank_you' page or the conversion tracking).
I find it useful to know BOTH:
- which traffic source initially acquires the customer, but also
- which traffic source results in a conversion

Facebook Connect login preventing traffic source conversion data. Any solutions?
We're buying traffic to the website via Adwords, and when they hit the website and go to sign up for an application (enter into our conversion funnel), the session concludes as a bounced session, a new session starts and that session now has a referral from Facebook rather than the original referring source. This means we can't monitor adwords conversions properly (or any other traffic source conversions) this seems to be quite a common problem with Facebook/Google account logins, in the case of Google, people block account.google.com but we can't afford to block Facebook outright as we're wanting to see other Facebook referrals. Has anyone come across this problem? Any suggestions of how to fix this?

Late last year we did an overhaul of our website. We didn't change we did or what we sell just the format and overall look. What used to work for Adwords and Adcenter conversions doesn't seem to work as well on the new site. Any suggestions on where I should start to turn this around?

Tracking Adwords Conversions for eCommerce ROI
I'm working with a rather large eCommerce customer who needs to be able to track their Adwords conversions for the purpose of determining the ROI of their Adwords campaigns. I've installed code from Google Adwords Conversions on their eCommerce page, but it doesn't seem to be calculating values correctly. OK Mozers! Here's the situation (my parents went away on a weeks vacation...) • I am managing an online furniture retail website Infurn .com • Our budget is 500 euro per day and we need basically 20% cost per sale and im hovering at 30 - 35% • I recently was given the opportunity to participate in The Conversion Optimiser which allows you to set a desired CPA and Google works its magic geting you that target by adjusting your bids accordingly using historical campaign data. • Is this something I should use?
