Has Anyone Seen A Correlation Of An Increase/Decrease in Organic Rankings After Becoming BBB Accredited?
-
This question pertains to local SEO, and businesses that want to rank for a certain city, service area or metro.
In looking at Ahrefs, it appears businesses that are BBB Accredited will get multiple "nofollow" links and possibly 1 "dofollow" link (on their actual profile), however businesses that only have a free (non-accredited) profile, only got a "nofollow link" and no "dofollow links". While it is definitely not a silver bullet and this is not always the case, in examing hundreds of local SERPS throughout 4-5 years in the SEO biz, there does seem to be some sort of correlation between businesses that are BBB accredited and also have their "BBB accreditation" badge with a link on their website.
Has anyone seen similar results or correlations for local SEO where they live? Is this a coincidence/anomaly?
-
Correct, and yes the trust factor definitely makes sense to me. I just didn't know if anyone had a case study or experience of a business that wasn't doing much SEO, decided to get BBB Accredited, embedded the BBB badge on their website, and then saw a change in rankings due to it.
I have never used the BBB to search a business either and think that it may be more of a correlation than a causation, as a business that decides to get BBB accredited is also probably investing in SEO, a blog, other high DA directory listing, content marketing or a combination of marketing efforts that could be leading to high local rankings.

Hi Nicholas,
Interesting topic! If I'm understanding this right, you're hypothesizing that local businesses with BBB accreditation and a BBB badge rank higher organically. Is that right?
To be totally honest, the BBB has always been a bit of a mystery to me. It could have something to do with my age (40s) that, despite my association of this brand with business ratings, I have never, ever personally looked up a business on the BBB. It could be that older people rely on this more as a trust signal.
What I do wonder about is whether what you've observed might be that a business which is taking pains to get the BBB accreditation and put the badge on the website might be making more general SEO efforts, as a rule. Maybe they are more active in their content publication as well. Maybe they've earned more links.
On the other hand, we do know the emphasis Google places on the thing we call "trust", so while I'd be leery of saying that BBB accreditation correlates with higher rankings, it would be shortsighted to claim that I or anyone else knows all of the exact factors from which Google derives trust. Could BBB accreditation be among them? Sure!
But, that being said, I really hope we'll receive more input from the community here. Maybe someone else will have noticed what you have. I hope so!

SEO issues with Physician and Practice not ranking for their own names
I've inherited an SEO client who's got all kinds of ranking problems. Currently his name Dr. Laddis shows up for his old practice, Saratoga Cardiology Associates (http://saratogacardiology.com/) instead of his current one Cardiology Specialty Services (http://cardiologyspecialtyservices.org/ ) He's also showing up with a G+ for the old practice that's listed as closed. The 2nd listing is for his bio on the hospital page.(<cite class="_Rm">https://saratogahospital.org/doctor/theodoros-laddis-md-facc/ )</cite> Then come the usual Dr directories. His YouTube channel shows up. But his actual website isn't until the middle of the 2nd page. I'm also having similar issues getting the practice to show up in search (http://cardiologyspecialtyservices.org/ ). As I was coming on board, they also had a name change from Saratoga Cardiology Specialty Services to Cardiology Specialty Services. Their G+ local business page has the custom URL for Saratoga Cardiology Specialty Services but the name on the page is Cardiology Specialty Services. Their website is actually part of the hospital multisite with a URL redirect. While the site shows up for "cardiologist Saratoga" their G+ page doesn't show up.(https://plus.google.com/+Saratogacardiologyspecialtyservices/about ). I've also done on-page SEO and am still in the process of submitting to directories. Any thoughts on what the hangup is or what I can do to clear up this mess would be appreciated.

Problems ranking in St Louis
Hello everybody We have noticed that when tracking several keywords across the United States, the keywords in St. Louis are almost always ranked the lowest. We rank on the first page for 46/47 locations for several keywords, but St. Louis ranks on page 4 or later. Any ideas? One thought we've had is the different spelling of the city name, St Louis, St. Louis, Saint Louis. Should this have any bearing on the problem? Thanks in advance, I look forward to any insight you can provide!

New website no ranking, due to 2 duplicate websites . Please help.
Hello Everyone, We have a client that has 2 of the same websites, that have the same content, different phone numbers and different content for the Homepages however, there are a few differences that has been done to both with different functionality. For the last 3 weeks, we have been trying to rank "1. www.websitetoronto.com" as this is the branding of the company, and is for 18+ content. We also have "2. www.websitetor.com" that is PG13 content which is for google places for business aka google+ for business (which is still in pending mode, and is the older site about 7 years old, and was ranked before. The reason for both the sites is that Google Places for Business Listing does not allow any adult content, and our main branding "**1. www.websitetoronto.com" is for 18+ content. Here are the specs for both the sites. ** 1. www.websitetoronto.com New Registered site to be ranked organically (however this is no where in the SERPS) as its serving the older site previously No Google Places for business listings.

How To Rank Individual Pages Locally?
Hello, A fellow business owner recommend that I signup for Moz to ask questions about local SEO. I just have a few questions, but please excuse my ignorance since SEO isn't something I'm very familiar with. My company has locations in 3 different cities in the state of Arkansas. I've noticed that when I type in certain keywords on Google such as "web design", I see a lot of organic listings from web design companies in my local area - but if I were to search from another city, different listings show up that are related to that city. I have 3 different pages on my company's website for each of our locations that gives a little bit of information about them - such as the general manager, storefront photos, and the employee of the month. What can I do to get each of the pages to rank higher on Google in their respective cities? I've heard a lot of different things mentioned such as having the name, address, and phone number listed. Including Google Maps on the page with our location. And some other stuff such as including stuff such as a "KML file" and a "schema markup". If anyone can give me a list of definitive suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.
