AdGroup by Match Type or by Keyword?
-
Hi,
Will someone please tell me which AdGroup structure makes the most sense?
Grouping Keywords by Match Type? i.e. [pizza store], [pizza restaurant], [pizzeria], etc.
or by Keywords? i.e. pizza store, "pizza store", [pizza store]
We're basically trying to figure out which structure makes the most sense and which will allow us to earn the best quality score.
I've heard of people using both strategies. Personally, I think it should be grouped, more often than not, by keyword. This enables one to tailor the ad and landing page to the specific keyword. I am curious to hear some reasons for grouping them the other way.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Hi,
Generally the advertisers tend to follow different strategies and stick with the one, which gives them higher Conversions, high Return on Investment (ROI) so some advertiser grouping keyword by match type and some uses all match types in a single ad group.
When working with broader matches changes in Ad copy can be very important so it may be that you'll want to split these different match types into their own Groups to allow Ads better suited to those terms and then add embedded negative match type keywords to streamline the traffic. Now, once you accrue data, you can pause the match types which are not proving worth for you and optimize the rest of the keywords.
I wouldn't suggest going with too much of the Broad match type keywords because that would tend to bring in lot of irrelevant traffic and your much of the time and efforts would go in adding the negatives, analysing the Search Terms frequently and checking which terms are relevant and which not.
BMM & Exact are definitely good option to go for.
Hope it helps.
Thanks

I believe if you are just building out the campaign structure that keeping them in the same (grouped) by keyword theme is a stronger approach for the same exact reasons that you have pointed out.
Once you start to generate some significant data in there, you can always pull those exact match keywords out and place them in their own adgroup for further testing if you will. Intent could potentially be different but without some level of data to review, it would be hard to make the case.
I would go the route as you have outlined and go from there.

Special Characters in Negative Keywords in Ads
Howdy, fellow mozzers, I came across this weird suggestion in my Bing account (screenshot link: https://dmitrii-regexseo.tinytake.com/tt/NDY3OTc5NF8xNDgyMzY4OA) It almost that the dollar sign in the negative keyword is acting like a wildcard character, or being disregarded completely. I did some tests, it seems that in Google Ads that is not happening. Does anyone have an idea if this is normal behavior? I have never seen this before.

Arabic Keyword Research
Hi All, Can anyone recommend good SEOs who specialise in Arabic? I've had my client's website translated into Arabic but the translation company do not specialise in local keyword research. They've translated literally I think (obviously not being an Arabic speaker, I can't confirm this). I need someone to review the translated site (only 4 pages so far), with a marketing head on, and ensure it includes the relevant local keywords used in UAE countries. Will also require deeper keyword research for a Google.ae PPC campaign and Ad copy written in Arabic. If I fail to find someone here in the moz community I'll head over to oDesk, where I'll find everyone and their mother-in-law proclaiming to be the worlds best Arabic SEO 😕

Negative Keywords
This will end up being a two part question: We have been running a search marketing campaign for about 45 days. It seems no matter how many negative keywords we add (over 300 right now), we still are receiving borderline relevant traffic to the broad match ad group. We are in the printing industry and I think this in itself presents a challenge since there are thousands of competitors in our market, national & local. People also search for a variety of items, most of which end up having nothing to do with our business (i.e. animal prints, zebra prints etc.) We are running several different ad groups: one exact match, one broad and one phrase match. Does anyone have a resource or links they are willing to share that has general negative terms they use before creating any new campaign? I have ones I have found, but wondering if there is a very good master resource out there. How many key phrases do you typically add to an 'Exact Match' ad group? Thank you!

Does anyone know of an excel template for creating keyword combinations?
I am looking for an Excel template with Macros that would allow me to drop a column of keywords next to a column of modifiers and it would build out thousands of keywords with a Macro. Can anyone drop their best SEO/SEM Excel template spreadsheet links in the comments?

PPC Keyword Ranking
The SEOmoz PRO tool shows how keywords rank in the organic part of the SERPs. Does anyone know if there is another tool out there that shows the same thing for ranking in the ads section of the SERPs? Also, does anyone know the winning lottery numbers (any lottery will do, I'm not fussy!). Thanks Neil

Keyword domains for AdWords - duplicate content an issue
Hi guys, A client of mine has bought a raft of keyword domains for use in an AdWords campaign. This isn't my area of expertise, hence the question. They have a hosting account which can host an unlimited number of domains. Can they set up the domains with the same content on each site and then use AdWords to drive traffic to the sites? I've suggested they can use rel="canonical" to specify that the preferred site is the main site of the company which should bypass the duplicate content issue. Is this the best way to host the sites or is there a better alternative? Thanks in advance, Brendan.
